Good to know im not the only one who found this amusing.

Ogrepuppy; hate to say it but that post just then you totally come off as a silly fanboy.

Finding this offer ridiculous and self defeating does not mean you are rude; or lack manners. Its actually really rude of you to say that as you seem to be operating under the belief that we should be grateful for whatever crap Bioware foist off on us and never express any sort of dissent.
That is a stupid attitude to take; and Bioware themselves have said its not an attitude they like or want to have in their fan community. They like the sometimes too brutal honesty of their fanbase.

And as to what Sunac said specifically; its fairly clear that he was JOKING. Having a laugh. Being facetious. Not being serious.
You might say you werent targetting him for criticism but you clearly were. Its like saying to someone "Not trying to be rude but..." and then proceeding to say something rude and offensive and acting like saying ur not trying to be rude excuses it. Laughable.

Honestly next time think before you jump down someones throat for having a different opinion than you.

Ok I am targetting you for criticism here, have you heard the phrase "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth?" Google it. This free copy of the game's purpose is for boosting sales (if it waddles like a duck, quacks like a duck and tastes like a duck, it is a duck), it has nothing to do with if you like or dislike DA2. I personally dislike DA2 myself but I know the difference and as an adult you should too (presuming you are one).

They did not have to give any previous owners of DA2 a copy or code just like almost no other companies back date their 2 for 1 offers to people who may have bought one of the titles in the offer in the past.

If you hate or like DA2 fine there is a place for that both in the CC and the option of making a thread yourself about what it is you hate. They owe you or me nothing more than fixing the bugs in the original game of which they are working on. This does not include free copies of other titles they have developed.

This hatred towards a free copy is not a constructive criticism of the game(s), it is not what they asked people for and praise them for. Making posts and replies about ways to improve their game(s) is what they promote not attacking their business decisions about what to give away and what to sell or for how much.

If you already own the game you have lost nothing, even if you bought a copy of ME2 previously. You have the option of either taking the code and giving to a friend or family member, you even have the option of selling the code off via ebay for probably just enough to buy an extra DLC for a title. You do not have the right to demand alternative offers. This is not a pick 'n mix store, you don't get to choose the freebie, they do. You have the right to complain about the bugs and glitches you do not have a right to demand compensation because you did not enjoy the game. You cannot apply the logic that if bought the game even a day before the offer came out that you deserve a refund as thats timing same reason if you choose to invest in IBM just as their share prices are about to fall you don't get a refund on your shares because of your timing.

If you have an issue with the gameplay post it in the CC thread or make one. If you have a problem with bugs/glitches either return to store, sell your copy or wait for patches which are being made right now. Unless you are a shareholder which I think you are not (owning a game does not make you one) then you have no right to dictate their business practices. Like I said I too dislike DA2 but even I have enough common sense to know what is and is not applicable in this case.

Okay firstly you are making a lot assumptions about my motivations here.

You are assuming I am one of the DA2 haters (amongst other things); which I am not.

I don't get where you think I am making demands here but I haven't once. I merely expressed my amusement at what is clearly a cynical marketing ploy to shift copies of a game they arent selling.

And as to what i said to ogrepuppy was true; he shouldnt be jumping down someone's throat for having a different opinion from him; and for that matter neither should you.

Nor should you be making stupid ASSUMPTIONS about the motivations of a poster when you have no idea who they are, or what the think of the product in question (DA2). Assumptions that come from nothing that I can see, because I never said anything that you are having a go at me for.

The only thing that might have remotely been seen as negative is where I said that i wasnt going to blindly swallow whatever Bioware/EA said or did without question because some silly little fanboy thinks we should be "grateful" that Bioware are even giving us the time of day.
Ridiculous.
We are customers. We pay for a product, and we expect a certain level of quality. It isnt wrong. If something falls short we have the right to express our disbelief, or displeasure, or dissatisfaction with it as long as we do it in a measured and constructive manner I do not see the problem with flagging up any issues we may or may not have.

If I am wrong I apologise, but you and ogrepuppy seem to be of the opinion that we shouldnt ever disagree with Bioware because we should be grateful that they are even doing anything for us at all even if it is largely considered to be a wrong move.
But even considering that, I still dont see where most of what you are having a  go at me for is coming from. It's come off as a childish over reaction based on things I havent said.

If thats the case, then you need to grow up mate.

I am one of those rare idiots that bought ME2 in Eastore for 12,5 € and thought I got a bargain. Now I see what an idiot I was :)

Gamers who bought the game new from the shop (me included) don't need to feel ripped off or anything. Look at it this way: People buying new games from the shop keeps the video-game industry afloat. If everyone was just given free games, the industry wouldn't exactly last long. Just be happy knowing that by buying the game, you've helped the industry, in whatever country you live in, which in turn helps us enjoy more games.

It's almost like he's straight out of the 1950's sitcom Leave it to Beaver (shush you people with a dirty mind). Wide eyed naivety with a few gee wizz and golly's thrown in.

I hadn't purchased ME2 and now I understand better why so many fans hated DA2. ME2 is really impressive, many improvements from the origninal. Im only partway through a first play through and it just feels like a ton of effort was put into this game. DA2 even though I enjoyed it, doesnt have that feel. If you purchased ME2 your expectations for DA2 would have been really high. It makes more sense why so many fans went ballistic.

I don't understand the criticism. Yeah, it's a "marketing ploy" or whatever. And. . .? What's the problem with throwing in a freebie to entice the unconvinced? It's no more or less ridiculous than any other marketing tactic. "Gee, Bioware! Advertising your games? That's low!"

Is it necessary to actually DOWNLOAD everything before April 30th?
Or simply activate our codes and stuff so it shows up as available through EA Download Manager (which I already did) - but I don't want to download or install anything right this moment because I'm re-installing Windows in about 2 weeks.

Wow. One out of like 50 people actually said thank you without adding a "I'm not gonna use it though", or weren't just being ungrateful ****s. Take a lesson from your parents/ TV: If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all.

OK, sure -- I'll give it a try.

EDIT: I can't say that I think much of EA's download manager so far. I asked it to download ME2, and after it finished it went on to install it -- which I emphatically did not want it to do. After I uninstalled it and cleaned up the mess, I found that it had also deleted the installer -- even though I'd configured the EADM settings to keep it. So now I have to re-run a 90 minute download all over again, and babysit it all the way through to manually stop the auto-install just before it touches off. A "download but don't install" option in the settings would make it a lot more user-friendly.

Maybe the offer ended before you decided to take advantage of it?
