This isn't about a weighing of opinions. This topic is about the offer of a free copy of ME2 for DA2 owners. "DA2 SUCKS" does not follow from that. This is a violation of logical progression, not just my "opinion".
So yes, I certainly question someone's use of time when they apparently have to drag their grievances into every corner of the forum. You're right, I can't stop someone from proving John Gabriel's Greater Internet Dickwad Theory. But neither can you stop me from pointing that out, either. No apologies, sorry (huh... inadvertent oxymoron).
What is it about then ? Defending EA/Bioware, DA2 ??? What exactly ?
Sure this topic is about free copy of ME2 for DA2 owners in celebration of making 1 Million sales. I am not denying that. However people are free to express their opinions how they take it.
Some may believe it is truely Celebration of Success.
Some may see it as WIN - WIN for both gamers and EA/Bioware ( I do agree with that thought )
Some may think of it as smart strategic move for the mess up of DA2 ( cant blame them, they do have a valid case here )
Some may absolutely reject or abhor it because they paid for ME2, dont like DA2 or worst case they bought DA2 didnt like it and are not a fan of ME series because they dont like shooters...
So everyone has its own take on this event/announcement by EA/Bioware ... you are not the only one here to express....
You do know that .... I am quoting your own quote " I can't stop someone from proving John Gabriel's Greater Internet
Dickwad Theory. But neither can you stop me from pointing that out,
either. "
Your own posts if anything else are ironical, contradictory.

Alright, I do have better things to do than get into an argument with someone who is tangential at best to the poster I originally addressed.1000questions wrote...

I'm not really sure why you feel the need to engage me, but it certainly isn't mutual. I stand by my original post, which wasn't directed at anything you wrote. If your intent is to white-knight, don't bother; I'm not changing my stance. Have a good day.

Why you would make a reward that you know a good majority of the recipients already have. But oh yeah, you can gift it. It's like they're just using their loyal customers to bring in new customers and promote the ME line.
Oh wait, nevermind, I do get it.

Sounds more like a marketing ploy to get me to gift it to someone new and get Bioware another customer. What do I get exactly? Uh huh.

It's the Loyal fan part that kind of gets on my nerves. Who is more loyal than a fan like myself that pre ordered both ME2 and DA2? Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed DA2 and ME2, but if you're offering a "boon" to your most loyal fans, you could have considered alternative rewards like Bio points or a 15% discount on your next purchase or something along those lines. Seems to me most loyal should be an easy math equation. I piad full price for both games totalling about 110.00 dollars vs I could have waited till now, bought DA2 for half price and also gotten ME2 the same way. I put way more money into Bioware's pockets by preordering, which is having trust in them as a company by doing so. Making me one of the most loyal fans in my book. So all I'm really getting is a thank you since I own both games. I have no desire to obtain one to give to a friend. As I said, if you truly want to reward the most loyal fans, offer us a discount on our next purchase or let us upgrade to the collector edition for "free" or something.
You are thinking about your costs, where as your proposition to EA/Bioware may not be that beneficial.

Also, hah, it doesn't even come with the Cerberus Network. That's pretty low.
Oh well, still a good offer, though I would've prefered that BioWare had released a non-craptastic game than trying to bundle it with one that has already sold pretty much all it's going to.

More like desperate to move some more DA2 because of how much of a pathetic failure it is.

Unfortunately all big name devs and publishers only care about the money. Maybe when we stop buying their games all together they will go back to making decent games instead of the crap they are shoving down now.abnocte wrote...

So to "celebrate" DA2 faster than DAO "success" loyal fans get a free copy of a game most of them already own.
And since we can give it away, we get the marvelous possibility of promoting ME franchise for you for free.
Clever way to boost DA2 and ME sales and attrack new costumers. Win-win situation for you I guess.
If you would excuse me, I better leave before I start projectile vomiting
Of course it's a way to boost sales and atract new costumers. What did you expect, charity or something?
Regardless of what the intentions are though, they're still giving away an amazing game for free.
I didn't expect anything.
What annoys me is the underlying concept of how Bioware is promoting itself.
Instead of creating quality games, we get a half-assed game and to cover it up they offer a totally different game that can be found in the bargain-bin for 10€
I guess I'm naïve enough to think that a quality product + word to mouth is a better way to get new costumers and boost sales...

Give me a break! "Dragon Age: Origins was a success in its time, but DA2 is ultimately the superior game and everyone needs to accept that." - This is the message I got from the load of garbage I quoted above, and it disgusts me. Bioware has not only completely abandoned DA:O, but they downplay it in favor of DA2 every chance they get. I guess mediocrity breeds success nowadays.

Anyhoo, so Dragon Age 2 comes out, despite what you guys believe it's selling well enough. But you guys are right it is stupid to try and sell a game by combing it with another game. Thats not what this is about. This is about trying to get Dragon Age users to give Mass Effect a try. Also if you have both already you probably know a friend who doesn't. Either way it's generating interest for Mass Effect, not Dragon Age.
If I'm right about this you can expect an announcement of some sort about Mass Effect 3 near the end of this promotion to keep the Mass Effect momentum building.

The hilarious thing is the fact that if things keep going the way they're going, DA2 will never sell as many copies as DA:O.
It was a clever bit of fancy astroturfing, but ultimately futile.

I also just want to point out that, from what I can tell, this isn't some sort of incentive to buy DA2. It's a reward for people who've already bought it. If you bought DA2 and liked it, then you're getting a bonus (which you can give to a friend if you already have it or don't want it). If you bought DA2 and didn't like it, or didn't think it was worth the price, BioWare's giving you a game that's worth about $20 retail. I think it's a good deal.
