This is awesome, personaly i have ME2 already. But this is a superb gift for my brother who does not have it. For those who complain about this... im speachless. Even if it is marketing, who cares! its free stuff. This is how developers should market stuff. So thank you Bioware.
Precisely.
This isn't some cheap $5 phone game either. It's their most lucrative franchise right now. It was probably the best game of 2010.
Would Activision give away free MW2? Nope.
Thanks again, Bioware.

Also, coming into this thread to whine about DA2 when there are TONS of other threads available for that is just plain annoying. 12 pages of pure hate over a promotion that doesn't hurt anyone is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

Give me a break! "Dragon Age: Origins was a success in its time, but DA2 is ultimately the superior game and everyone needs to accept that." - This is the message I got from the load of garbage I quoted above, and it disgusts me. Bioware has not only completely abandoned DA:O, but they downplay it in favor of DA2 every chance they get. I guess mediocrity breeds success nowadays.
Ah, I thought it was just me. It seems very "See?! It sold more so that must mean it's better!!!!1!" to me. Lately it seems when anyone from Bioware speaks of DAO, there's always a negative undertone. It's honestly a bit....disheartening to see. DA2 was a fine game; there's no reason to tear down Origins in an attempt to prove that.
With regards to this promotion, I actually think it was a fantastic move. Regardless of motivations, they are still giving away one hell of a game and I do appreciate it, even though I bought ME2 on release day.

Maybe I missed answer to this question...but since I already own ME2, can the code be given to another? Or is it bound to my EA account?
its been said by Chris Preistly its transferrable to others.

Indeed. At the end of the day, it only serves to highlight those who are - at best - lacking in maturity, but it's still dismaying to see just how many there are.Embargoed wrote...

I prefer RPG's, but I also enjoy some of the action/shooters/hybrids. However, after reading through this thread, I doubt that I'll take advantage of this. I am one of those people who suffered through the DA 2 DRM, and I'm still suffering from it. Now I read that the EADM has its own DRM, and that serves to scare me off this offer. I will definitely research games from now on, and if they sport a DRM, then they won't get my money. No more blind faith from me, ever.
Other than that, this is a good business move. It appeases many disgruntled/disappointed customers, it promotes ME 3, and it pushes the PC in the fore-front, giving the console gamers the opportunity to play it on the computer. It also serves to take the sting out of the 55.99 euro price-tag of DA 2, which is my main disappointment - aside from having my expectations for DA 2 crushed, that is. I know I am to blame as well, as an adult, I should know better than to blindly buy something, so lesson learned.
I'll definitely follow this thread for news on the DRM, if it becomes available. I don't download games, because I usually prefer disks. I'm one of those people who uninstall games once I'm done with it.
Well, usually I uninstall. However, BG 2, NWN 1, Morrowind, and DA:O are games that will be the exception. They have a perma-home on my PC. No matter how many times EA/Bioware tries to tell me that DA:O was utter crap (I know, it's an exaggeration) compared to DA 2, it still is the far superior game, imo. I'm more or less done with DA 2 and I'm looking forward to playing DA:O again for the umteenth time. I will happily endorse DA:O, but I'll not do that with DA 2.
