This has been asked before, but can I give my code to a friend who doesn't have DA2 registered to his account?
Yes, if you want to. Once they have "your" code, they just complete the remaining steps.
Thanks. I think it activated the Cerberus Network for me, though. I already have it. Hopefully it'll give it to my friend, because that's an expensive DLC.

It also "don't change the fact" that it's incredibly petty to bring your whining into this thread.KalDurenik wrote...
Maybe... maybe not. It dont change the fact that DA2 is a halfassed game from the devs made get a quick cash in from the original fans from DAO and they even tried to expand their fan base but failed so hard that they will be lucky to get 2m sales even with this.
Surely, surely, you have better things to do with your life. I hope so, for your sake.
Discussions about a topic should be kept in one topic.
This topic is about the promotion of a game selling badly. Im saying that i dont agree with it as i would rather have a fix for the game then a free game that i could get from the bargain bin for pocket money.

On the contrary they are celebrating DA2 .... and you guys feel that they are sorry ????? what is wrong with you guys.
This is a smart move by EA/Bioware. This has manifold advantages for them. At max you are saving $5 on ME2 as it is available for around $15 to $20 in stores WITH CERBERUS Network.
1) They are trying to woo , disappointed gamers, fans back
2)You need to download it from EA with their version of DRM coming with it. It has its own advantages.
3) Since you are downloading the digital plain vanila copy from their website, The real cost they have to incurr now is just the bandwidth and that too till April 30,2010. Their able to give a 15 months old game with almost no costs. This is the smartest part as ME2 has not only made huge profits , reputation, awards from them but is now a property for them which doesnt cost anything more.
4) In order to get this game you need to Register your DA2 , many may have backed out of registering the game after the episode of " EA/BIOWARE banning people to play legally bought copies". They are getting back the control and things in line where they want.
5) The games registered in this process are less likely to be re-sold at decent price and after seeing DA2 response people will hardly be interested in buying second hand copy. Moreover only those people are able to get decent price who have not registered the games on the publisher's site. That may push the sales of DA2 at discounted price from the stores.
6) Alot of people agreed to the fact that DA2 wasn't worth $60 price level, this offer sweetens the deal and can prove to be a deal breaker

When does DA2 open beta-test end though? When do we see the patch?

You can get ME2 for 5-10$ (including shipping) + cerberus network. And you wont waste all that money on DA2.
You could also get ME1 if you have not played it at the same time for 5$.

Looks more like a marketting stunt to artificially increase DA2 sales and make it look like a success.TRUTHMACHINE wrote...

One thing bothers me. It's been 4 weeks after DA2 release, right? Biowre claims than they sold 1 mln copies in less then two. Yet they annouce it now. 2 weeks delay in claiming something that significant for them (judging by the hype their doing now)? Why the delay?
Takes time to get the figures.
Real reason though is the sharp drop off in sales over the weeks not reaching 1 million. If DA2 can't even reach DA's numbers after everything that was said in those interviews, a lot of people are going to be under scrutiny by those higher up the foodchain.
Trying to get people playing ME is a no brainer with ME3 coming out later this year (maybe).

Agree with Bobsmith101 here alot. After seeing the whole DA2 episode since the day of announcement, going through debut trailers, so many campaigns/events by EA/Bioware , marketing spin offs and the reaction the game got . There will be alot of who would be underfire right now. DA2 has raised alot of questions and alot of Bioware fanbase is responding by their wallet and bad mouth publicity isnt going well either.
This is more strategic smart move by EA/Bioware.
Give freebie always helps as people to suck up free items.
Improved sales will help them meeting people in boardmeetings and answering.
They are broadening the fanbase for launch of ME3 .
There are alot of theories and many reasons why they are doing this.

11. Does my copy of Mass Effect 2 include the Cerberus Network content?
Cerberus Network is included and will be entitled to the account used to redeem your Dragon Age II Online Pass. This includes Zaeed - The Price of Revenge, Cerberus Weapon and Armor, Normandy Crash Site, Cerberus Arc Projector, and Firewalker Pack. Visit the offer page to download the necessary files.
And yes, if you have already redeemed your code, all you need to do is visit the redemption page again [http://social.bioware.com/me2offer/] and you'll get a new note will appear:
Cerberus Network: Activated
Click here to download your Cerberus Network content.
As far as why this is being done? I tend to believe that the motivation is to broaden the ME2 base before the ME3 launch as well as another attempt to "lure" the old-style (BG2) part of their fan base to the more action oriented design space that Bioware is moving towards. This segment of their fanbase (which I'm part of) simply didn't buy ME2, and had no intention of purchasing it in the future, so if you can get them to try it, then maybe...
I really doubt this offer is going to have any signficant impact on DA2 sales, simply because it isn't likely to be marketed anywhere except on EA / Bioware's website. Other retailers (including download only retailers) aren't very likely to say "Hey, you can either buy ME2 from us, or you could buy DA2 and download a copy for free (from someone else's website)!" -- it would be canabilizing their own sales. Now, if it was a physical bundle, or if the bundle was offered through (e.g. Stream bundles) the vendor's website, maybe... But as an EA only offer? Just don't see it happening.
Also weighing in against the "desperate attempt to boost DA2's sales" -- speaking as a sometime web developer, this took a fair amount of time and effort to setup, test, and provision resources for. I'm sure that this took at least a month to develop (from concept -> completed, tested, deployed solution), and likely longer than that. In other words, the developement effort had to start before DA2 was even released. So either they knew (or suspected) that DA2 would sell poorly (in which case, why would they be suprised / horrified at the reaction), or Bioware / EA's motivation is something other than "Oh no, let's artifically boost sales of DA2 so that we don't get yelled at".
And thanks to Bioware -- whatever the motivation, free stuff is always good...

Ok , now this is interesting. They have added Cerberus Network. Well it definitely would appeal to many who thought this game is ok but not worth the cash and have not bought ME2

And secondly they are worried that all the negative publicity will reduce sales of DA2 itself.
So they give away something that doesn't cost them "anything" (not that many ME2 beeing sold anylonger) to please the fanbase and make a better DA2 offer.
Smart marketing move. But we already knew that that part is BioWares strong suit.
(I'm still expecting to find out that this is only for American customers..........)

Well this tells us 2 things, They have notized that at large part of their fanbase are dissipointed with DA2 and they are worried that this will lower sales of the expansion and DLC's.

The original post was from a Czech site, so it's not.
It's pirtate logic in reverse.
Pirate - "I was never going to buy the game anyway so it costs them nothing".
Marketing - "This game costs us nothing anyway , so give it as a sweetner".
