This is nothing but desperation to atone for the dramatically-below-expectations sales for DA2 before they have to hand out what will undoubtedly be an embarassing earnings report.

So how are those Quarterlies coming, Chris? You guys are obviously desperate to jack up sales for DA2 right before they get delivered to investors. That conference call not quite as glowing as you hoped it would be?

Indeed. At the end of the day, it only serves to highlight those who are - at best - lacking in maturity, but it's still dismaying to see just how many there are.Embargoed wrote...
Also, coming into this thread to whine about DA2 when there are TONS of other threads available for that is just plain annoying. 12 pages of pure hate over a promotion that doesn't hurt anyone is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever had the displeasure of reading.
I think the issue is that many of them are a bit irked by Bioware seeming to claim that DA2 is a better game than DA:O, and seeming to promote DA2 by stepping on DA:O's corpse.

Its a public relations stunt. Since critical and diehard fans have been comparing "DA II" to "ME II", BioWare/EA thought they can buy fans over with this 'special' offer. Its their way of trying to silence the negative comments, so they can sell more units of "Dragon Age II".Warheadz wrote...
Well, that's pretty neat... BUT!
Don't get me wrong, now: I'm not being or trying to be ungrateful, but this REALLY has this strange feeling to it. Both "Buy DA2 now!" to sell DA2 and this "Here's a free ME2 for our fans, please love us again/more" feeling. Just might be me, though.
BioWare should be giving away 'high-quality' and 'robust' dlc instead.
Offering people "Mass Effect II" for free doesn't do anything for me.

What about us console gamers who play on the console because we don't have a PC that can run modern games? Do we not have a right to feel like this is just a "publicrelationsdamagecontrolpromotethe****outofME3" thing and feel shafted?
Go buy a good PC. Believe me, you'll never look back.

ME and DA catered for two different groups, so it is a good way to entice people like me (who don't really like either shooters or sci fiction) to try and perhaps like it so much, that I will buy ME3...
marketing technique - DEFINITELY
but Bioware is still a company, and a major one at that (not independent), their main concern is definitely making money.. so I don't see why people can complain about this so called marking technique (enticing more people to buy DA2).. yes, maybe DA2 is really 'bad' when compared to DAO but people should stop complaining and look at the future (patches etc.).... and if Bioware/EA continues to make games that disappoint, they can just stop buying their games and be done with it...
no point making a joyous event sour...

If only my computer could run ME2Ah well, should be fun when I get my next P.C, which should be soon. Anyway, cheers BioWare.
I read the offer was only until April 30th. http://techland.time...-effect-2-free/
You have twenty-four days to get your new computer up and running.

That's a very useful EA feature. Since this is all about PC being rewarded and not the xbox ps3 players, who have the majority of the platform sales,...I wonder if this is all about the securom issue?

I played ME2 on my friend's PC. So which means if I buy a new copy of Dragon Age II, I will get a free Mass Effect 2 game! Alright!! But what's The Black Emporium?
It's a free DLC component that comes with every new copy of Dragon Age II. The code to activate it will be included in the documentation that comes with the game.

Buy ME2, get a free copy of DA2.... but we'll count it as a DA2 purchase.

Reversing the purchase to try and make some kind of point about DA2 makes no sense.
You want ME2, you pay $15. You want DA2, you pay $50-60. You pay $50-60 for ME2, well, you've just made some Gamestop clerk very happy.
