Plain daytime robbery for XBOX 'fans'.

How so? This offer is open to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 users who purchase or have purchased Dragon Age II. Yes, it is for a free PC edition, but it is open to everyone. :)

Yes but did you guys ever think that not everyone has a computer that can run ME2? Really now. Mine can and I bought it a year ago but even I'm aware not everyone has a gaming PC. If I was one of these people I'd be pretty irked.

I would be, but I already have 2 copies of ME2.

Still can't see why they don't do a code for PSN though, the game is already on there.

Somebody is always going to be irked. The PC/Xbox crowd, which is arguably the larger portion of the ME2 fan population since they've been playing the games for years before the PS3-only crowd saw the franchise, might very well be irked by the PS3 crowd getting the game for free even though it's been out for the system less than three months and is still retailing for full price.

Every deal won't work for everyone. The irked are just going to have to get over it.

But saved games don't carry cross-system. The only reason someone would have waited that long for it to be on PS3 is because that's all they have to run it. It's completely stupid to only offer a free PC download to "fans" who are across several platforms. Seriously, I would have taken the points for some free DLC instead. I'm not going to introduce anyone new to Bioware. I'm not that cruel.

LAWL I highly suggest people not buy into this until Bioware is forced to actually think twice about releasing a subpar game.

So how are those Quarterlies coming, Chris? You guys are obviously desperate to jack up sales for DA2 right before they get delivered to investors. That conference call not quite as glowing as you hoped it would be?

This is nothing but desperation to atone for the dramatically-below-expectations sales for DA2 before they have to hand out what will undoubtedly be an embarassing earnings report.

Amazingly I sold my EA shares

EA/Bioware suddenly became very generous and altruistic. I just wanna cry seeing such a noble deed. DA: O didn't need free Mass Effect 1 in addition.

Game save formats have nothing to do with anything. It has to do with money.

If you went with players getting a copy on their native platform (which I'm sure wouldn't make everybody happy, either), PC fans would be getting a year-old $15 game for free, Xbox fans would be getting a year-old, $20 game for free, and PS3 fans - the latecomers - would be getting the best deal of all, a three-month-old $60 game for free. I can't imagine the kind of melodramatic hysterics that would be erupting on these boards if that had been the plan.

Right now, everybody who bought DA2 has access to the cheapest version of the game, period. It might not be a deal everyone can use, but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Worst case, someone is in exactly the same place they were the day before yesterday: Nothing lost, nothing gained.

Going by the number of people in this thread who didn't have it before and have it now, no, it's not completely stupid. Some people are clearly benefiting from it. I gave away my code and could probably give away a few more if I had them.

Can't use it? Ignore the deal and move on with your life.

Then I'm glad Bioware doesn't make decisions based on whatever chip you have on your shoulder.

Ive finally downloaded the great gift, but i want to buy and play ME1 first. The problem is i would like the game to be registered on steam! I went through the steps to register the game, then it asks for my product code, so i checked the my games list on EA download manager, there was nothing, so i thought to try to the black emporium.... I enter it and steam says its a invalid code!!!

So please peeps tell me how to register this game on steam!

I'm on a mac, and I run some PC games with Crossover Games http://www.codeweave...oducts/cxgames/

However, I'm not able to get this EA Download Manager running with Crossover...So I guess I'm out of luck :(  Otherwise I'm pretty sure Crossover can run ME2.

You know another way too look at this is "Buy Mass Effect 2 and get Dragon Age 2 for free."

What's that say about Dragon Age 2?

Your mind = blown

Reversing the purchase to try and make some kind of point about DA2 makes no sense.

You want ME2, you pay $15. You want DA2, you pay $50-60. You pay $50-60 for ME2, well, you've just made some Gamestop clerk very happy.

You're making my point for me.

Here's a question, it may be a dumb one, but here goes....let's say that I want to sell off my retail copy in favor of the digital copy. My account currently has access to the Cerberus Network and I've bought downloaded all the available DLC. If I installed the digital copy onto my computer, am I going to retain use of all the DLC I've bought?

There was a way to make the deal work for everyone. They just didn't want/think to do it. You give all the owners of ME2 the option to opt in for 1600 BioWare points (the price of ME2) or an additional copy of ME2 that they can keep or gift. That way Xbox and PS3 users can get points to put towards DA2 DLCs or ME2 DLCs if they don't want a PC copy and PC users that own ME2 can have points. It keeps people spending and exposed to BioWare's material. And even if someone is maxed out of DLC already, they can save the points for the next title or any future DLCs while keeping their interest in BioWare's games.

There would be few people irked by that kind of deal. Those that would be, probably would be irked if BioWare gave them their whole catalog in whatever version they wished.

Anyway, congratulations to those who are getting a free copy and have never played Mass Effect 2.

I don't see myself buying DA2 in the foreseeable future, but it would be nice to have some BW points to buy DLC, or maybe a discount for ME3 in EA Store for those of us who already have ME2. Right now it looks like loyal BW fans are getting punished for buying the game instead of waiting for a promotion.

Just saying.

They should have said, and basically are saying, "Buy Mass Effect 2 and get Dragon Age 2 for free". DA2 is only a $20 product at best.

Seems like Bioware is getting desperate to get their reputation back up again.
And why specifically mention that it sold faster than DA:O? Might it be that they want to counter all the "DA2 is selling bad" discussions which are backed up by data?

Does BW really think that we don't notice that hald of the sales of DA2 came frome preorders which were more a result of DA:Os popularity than of teh quality of DA2? And that we haven't noticed that the sales after release are very poor?

I'm sorry what sequel? Because I know you can't honestly think DA2 is a sequel. And if you think it's a sequel to what is it a sequel? I'm sure no one will say DA:O, because Star Wars is more of a sequel to Lord of the Rings than DA2 is to DA:O.

I wondered too if it was that necessary to include this "faster than DA:O". Almost in every interview they bash DA:O one way or the other, trying to show us just how much superior and "evolved" DA2 is. This somewhat starts to irritate me.
