It's a very nice gesture that's much appreciated.

It's just like when they gifted ME1 to those who purchased DA:O!

That did happen right?

Obviously trying to get people interested in ME3. Believe it or not, some people buy DA2 who never played any ME game before. ever.

Kudos to Bioware for the smart move.

we can gift this to friends right? I already own ME2 with everything so I have no use for it but it's kind of a waste since MOST people already have ME2 anyways.

So yea, if I give the code to someone else they can redeem it ?

I swear it feels like Dragon Age 2 killed someone's dog from the vitrol it gets. I suppose I can see the "free game give-away" counter-argument, but I thought it was cross-promotion (i.e. they have it on authority that most of the DA2 crowd didn't play ME2, so they're trying to get them hooked on ME2 for ME3).

Given that DA2 took about 1 1/2 years or so (2 at most?) to be made versus 5, even with 1/2 of the DA:O sales (which seems to be the case) EA might well be pleased.

While some of the backlash (i.e. Act III being far too rushed; retread locations & NPCs amateurish) is well justified, I don't think hate for design decisions (i.e. PC VO or no origins) is really at all justifiable.

Unfettered bile is never justified. It's just rude and obnoxious, but dislike of gameplay changes such as the voiced PC, third person view cinematics, limited interaction, lack of inventory control, unrealistic combat, etc. is perfectly justified when it drastically reduces ones enjoyment of the game. Doesn't mean they have to listen to complaints, even ones that don't sound like threats or schoolyard taunts. I suspect they won't. They seem happy with the game they released regardless of fan reaction. I think that's unfortunate, but there ya go.

I find it amusing that they're "celebrating" when this game has been so negatively received. Obviously this is just to boost DA2 sales by attaching a game that DA2's target audience, the CoD fanbase, will find appealing. This is so transparent it's not even funny. If you were to really celebrate with your fans, wouldn't you give us something that we don't already own? Logically, one would assume that a Bioware fan would already own a copy of Mass Effect 2.....

I Played Mass Effect 1. I have not played mass effect 2. I will not play it even though it's free. It's incredibly simplified and a complete step back from the game that ME1 was (just like DA2).

I have INCREDIBLE buyers remorse from my purchase of DA2. I'm sorry bioware but you can't buy me back with 20 cents worth of bandwidth.

To all the lemings eating this PR crap up: When you regain your dignity several years down the road, gimme a call before you sell it again, I've got a spare quarter or two I could toss your way.

Oh yes, so VERY nice of them to try and fluff up their sales RIGHT before they have to give quarterly reports to EA for the investors.

I'm sure they just did that out of the kindness of their hearts.

It's in no way because this pile of **** game is selling poorly. Nope.

Just wanted to say thanks as even though I have ME 2 for the Xbox I have always wanted it for the PC. MY Days are happier. While DA 2 is not my favorite Bioware game it is still great. Who cares if you think Bioware is trying to fluff up sales take your carrot or don't.

If you haven't played ME2 then how do you know its a complete step back...
I thought DA2 was a step back, though a good game
ME2 I thought was an AMAZING game though still had its faults (ME1's RPG elements were awesome...)

So really comparing ME2 and DA2 is not right. It's free, go play the damn game, and after you are done, if you still hate it, then complain, but complaining without even playing is just not right.

So, why didn't they have a loyal bioware fan giveaway when DA:O came out? You know, bought DA:O and they give you ME1 for free?

Oh right, bad PR and sales for DA2. Gotcha

They'd probably have more success with this if they billed it as "Buy Mass Effect 2 and get Dragon Age 2 for free!" because everyone knows Dragon Age 2 sucks by now, why insult the ME name by giving it second billing?

NO THANKS Bioware. Keep your regurgitated game and its inspiration.

How about you spend time releasing quality products instead. Some of you might have forgotten the DAO DLCs that were overpriced and buggy... Well it happened again with DA2!!

Here's my thank you to you Bioware to celebrate not buying it...I will go purchase crysis 2!!

Thanks for that!!!

The fact that Bioware has to attach one of it's most succesful games along with one that has recieved such bad attention does not show it is of to a great start.
I'd rather go buy Portal 2.
