yes. Console owners of DA2 get a free PC copy of ME2 as well. I'm downloading ME2 for the PC right now.

Perhaps it is a marketing ploy to get people interested in the previous games. Just wait, the next game will come with a free download of NW or perhaps KOTOR. It is like drugs, perhaps smoking pot will then make you wanna try meth and so one and so forth thus beginning a never ending spiral of purchasing video games made by bioware ha ha ha!!!!. $20 says that the old republic comes with KOTOR download.

How about a discount on Mass Effect 3 when it comes out?

So this was a real offer. Hm.

That video advertisement about this, about 'for loyal fans'; Wouldn't a loyal fan of Bioware's games be the people who had trusted the company enough to have pre-ordered DA2 months in advance, as well as likely have bought ME2 already....so why that phrase? It is as if asking fans to buy a second copy of the game, or could even be seen in a harsher light as Bioware being sarcastic over just who their most loyal fans are.

It's just such an odd phrase to add considering the... forum climate and just asking to be taken negatively, even if the offer was simply genuine good will.

The offer applies to people who preordered as well.. and if you have ME2, you can also gift the code to someone else.

Yay clarification.  Thx

And don't forget to download any addons that were cross platform like the Dr. Pepper promo gear and the Blood Dragon armor. Although I rarely used the BD armor in any game other than DAO.

ME2 is available for download on PSN so what is the reason for not extending it to the PS3 ?

haha I am actually curious to see the difference between the Xbox and PC versions of the game.  I don't believe I have ever played a PC Bioware game.  Should be interesting.

Hey, I can play the analogy game too.

Let’s say you bought a car from a salesman.  The car ended up being amazing and much
better than you had hoped it would be.
So when the time comes to get another you go back to that same salesman
and purchase a new car.  Only, this car
is not like the previous one.  This one
is a lemon and has pieces of it held together with duct tape.  The floor boards are rotted out on one side
and it smells like a small animal vomited somewhere on the interior.  But it’s all good, because the salesman just
sent you a free spare tire.

It’s not entitlement.
It’s seeing things for what they are, a marketing ploy (albeit a genius
one on their part it’s all win/win) for a game with slumping sales.

I have actually enjoyed DA2 more than DAO, so while the average review scores are lower, it doesn't mean I got a lemon.

And anyway, it could very well be due to bad sales for DA2. It could also be that Bioware's marketing department found poor cross-product sales between the ME gamers and DA gamers.

In the end, I would imagine this will get more people into the ME series and boost sales for ME3.

I have DA2 on 360 and PC. I like the PC version better because of autoattack and the mods available. If I knew console would ship without AA and with Gibbed doing the import save creator for PC, I would have done that route first. I just got the PC one because it was cheap on Amazon that week and I had a credit on my Amazon account so was almost free. lol

Now some of those ME2 mods I saw I can try those too. Plus I think the PC version had more faces available by looking at that site masseffectsaves.com

Duh, well of course it is.

Same as in "free" preorder/day one DLC or "free" if you visit register/like/visit facebook/pennyarcade/twitter/whatever place DLC i.e. there is no such thing as free for the sake of being free. DA2 is out and whatever the reception was they are done with it.

This has more to do with convincing people on checking out ME3, repairing community ties for the recent release of an awful game and selling you on their store and DLC options. This is not exclusive to EA, Valve gave away Portal for "free" just to have you install steam on your computer, Microsoft gives stuff "for free" if you pay them $60 a year for playing online, Sony gives you games for "free" as long as you are subscribed to PSN+, etc.

But yeah, let's all celebrate how dumb we are good DA2 sold! Bioware, believe me, I could not hate you more lately. How the mighty have fallen indeed.

2 reasons

1) the PS3 version comes packed with all the DLCs except Arrival, this one is just vanilla
2) the PS3 version is selling for about 3 or 4 times as much as the PC one, so of course they wouldn't give it for free

I suppose this is a nice gesture, but really most people already own ME2. This seems more directed to new arrivals than to old followers of bioware games. Well i guess this will help to sell more copies of DA2 so kudos to Bioware, but this is no way to show appreciation to the fans that buy all your games.

Thanks Bioware.

I already own both games (ME 2 twice actually), so I gifted away the code.

It's still not a bad way to get some extra sales though. No one is seriously going to buy the PSN version priced at £47.99 when you can get in Asda for £22.Dropping the price of the PSN version is certainly not going to hurt as part of an effort to shift copies of  DA2.

There's no one I know that actually LIKED ME2.

In fact, I just heard one of my friends tell me how they found the graphics horrible.

Imaginable though, since he's a bit of a graphic you-know-what.

And this:
When you press the button to get the code, SOMETHING AWESOME HAPPENS!

EF YEAH!

Laidlaw was right: button = awesome.

I'm not complaining. I'm just pointing out that ME2 is already on PSN at a very stupid price compared to the high street and online retailers and some sort of price reduction for owning DA2 would be useful.

While a Discount on ME3 would be nice I wouldnt want that as I wouldnt be able to get the Collectors Edition (if there will be one) with the discount anyways -- or most likely not anyway.

Bioware points would be nice though ;)
