You are obvious hater who cant do anything but complaining. Bioware did everything right, more than we could have hoped for.

But on serious note... I agree.

You had me going at the end of your second sentence.

It comes with the Cerberus Network, so it is just like buying a new Mass Effect 2.

Are we able to register it?

I think so, the code for the download is a product code, so it should be able to be registered.

I see. That worked.

Good idea for BioWare to do this. Makes me happy that I bought DA2.

Of course they're not going to admit that its doing bad. It's quite obvious however. Biowares doing this in order to boost sales for da2 by attaching a game the shooter fans might like. Oh the smell of desperation......

I don't know...if I didn't buy DA2, I would've bought it now. They should include ME1 in Origins...boost sales up for Origins.

If that's the case why did they give me a code for ME2 when I pre-ordered my copy of DA2 in January? It seems more like a loyalty bonus rather than attracting more customers.

*Edit* I forgot to mention I have a code for ME2 if anyone wants it. Just PM me.

*Edit* Code is gone

If you were a loyal Bioware customer, wouldn't you already have ME 2 in the first place? And why not include a cerberus code with this loyalty bonus?

To everyone who thinks it's doing bad, no it's not, I don't care if you don't like the game, I personally did and did not like it at the same time but looking at sales it's not doing poorly or anything that 90% of all games do.

Week after week 1 sales are usually 20-30% of week 1 sales if that. It drops again when you get to week 3 and usually holds at around week 3 or a bit below week 3 sales for a while. It happened with pretty much every Bioware game since Kotor, DA:2 is no exception. The only game it didn't happen with was Origins which went steadily up until like Week 8, Origins also had a weak launch and then went down to the usual post Week 1 sales, after Week 8.

So sorry to everyone who wants DA:2 to be a financial failure. Oh and once again not meeting EA's 4.5 million figure is not a failure, EA has had a long, long history of over estimating sales even on critically acclimated games. ME2 shipped a million more copies than it sold opening week and still hadn't sold them two months into its run. (EA shipped 2 million copies, the game had sold 1.6 million after 8 weeks)

ME2's sales dropped almost 75% from week 1 to week 2 so the sales drop is not a sign that the game is tanking.

Also

most sales in week 1 were due to pre-orders and the special edition

Welcome to almost every game ever made ever.

Good question and I think the answer is why they are really giving away the code. They know that most DA2 owners already have ME2.  I'm sure they want us to give them away and expose more people to the franchise. Not necessarily a bad thing.  And I think the Cerberus code is in there.  Don't know for sure though.

I thought that, too.  It's been selling poorly on PC.  Smells like desperation.

The event is (in part) because we reached 1 Million sales faster than Dragon Age Origins.

How is that desperate?

Clearly desperate for more love from the fans :D

EDIT: Checked the FAQ and yes, it comes with the Cerberus Network as well as the same DLC that comes with any new copy of ME2.

Just for a numerical comparison.

ME2 - Week 1 sales = 893,352
ME2 - Week 3 sales = 141,051

Week 3 sales ~15% of week 1 sales

DA2 - Week 1 sales = 669,748 (525,918 without PC sales)
DA2 - Week 3 sales = 123,355 (97,190 without PC sales)

Week 3 sales ~18% of week 1 sales (~18% without PC sales)

ME2 HAD A LARGER DROP OFF THAN DRAGON AGE 2

Suddenly not a single **** was given...and Bioware laughed all the way to the bank.

Coming in 2012.
Dragon Age 3
1 class
3 skills
1 NPC copy and pasted 3000 times
1 city? Too complex, now it's streamlined down to 1 area!

I'm only disappointed that it's ME2 and not ME1. How many people are going to skip ME1 now? All the PS3-only players and a lot of these newtimers coming through this promotion.

Is this not a triology? Shouldn't we be giving people the first game?

Most have played ME1 but you have a point.

Meh, Bioware fail. I'm a bit baffled by this promotion anyway - hey, let's reward our medieval-themed RPG customers with a futuristic sci-fi shooter! Wait...

I also find it interesting that Bioware can give away free copies of ME2, yet STILL CAN'T GIVE ME2 PC USERS ANY DLC SALES!

Good one Bioware.

Yeah, that's right, I only like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Dragon Age. To hell with that Knights of the Old Republic or Mass Effect.

My real opinion on the subject. Not that it matters, but anyway:

1 - They wanna grab some cash of DLC from ME2 first players through that offer.
2 - A way to make some damage control over DA2 big controversy.
3 - A way to introduce Mass Effect to new players that have just got into Bioware from DA2 and this way market ME3.
4 - It's 2010 GOTY free, so hell yeah it's nice lol.
5 - This makes not much sense for what they say actually. It's a little dumb to please "loyal fans" like this, because most "loyal fans" already got Mass Effect 2. A more intelligent way to please "DA2 Bioware loyal fans buyers" way would be free DLC to DA2 and patches to correct most fan's issues with the game.

Very true. A free game is never an issue.. although I already have it, multiple times over. Can I however give my product code to a friend? That's what I'd like to know from BioWare. That would be a good way to get a new customer, if we can give the download to someone who doesn't have it.

So if I buy DA2, I get a copy of a game I already have for a platform that I can't play it on? Spiffy...

Apparently, you can give your code to someone else. Source.
