I don’t know if this is the right forum to put this is, but, since it contains spoilers, I figured this would be best.

I was doing another run-through of DA:O as I wait for the patch for DA II and I had a thought as I was stuck in the Fade during the Broken Circle line. I suddenly wished that the character’s initial nightmare – Weisshaupt – was more personalized to your origin.

Weisshaupt makes sense for all warden characters to some degree… but, for the first time, I was RP’ing a character who wasn’t all that crazy about being a Grey Warden.  The Gauntlet in the Sacred Ashes does personalize it, but it seems like this nightmare (especially in light of Sten’s, Alistair’s and Leliana’s) has more potential if it spawned according to the origin.

I’m sure it will never happen unless some ambitious modder has a go at it, but how would you personalize the nightmare according to origin? Some of those character nightmares are split between ‘a character’s ideal life’ or, as with Zev and Wynne, a worst case scenario.

Just brainstorming, but HN seems pretty straightforward – similar in a sense to Alistair’s but involving your own family. CE could be a return to the Alienage or a rehash of breaking into Vaughn’s manor. Mage could see a return of Mouse or, in a ‘what if’ he/she wasn’t recruited by Duncan, being marched to Aeonar. Maybe each of them could rely on the character’s choice to become a Warden and, once confirming it, break free.

Any other ideas?  I haven’t the faintest what the DE one could be and I haven't played dwarves enough to get a firm grasp of how theirs might play out.

It's an idea that's been floated before, and in practical terms it'd be quite a bit of extra work to customise a nightmare for each origin. Plus, what if you don't really consider the events in your origin story to be too pivotal to your character's personality (unlikely, but just saying...)? Perhaps you think the time your apostate mage was captured and forced to join the circle is the defining moment of his/her life, or whatever...
But just for gits and shiggles...
DE: alone in the woods? The Dalish are nomadic, but they're also tribal/family orientated. What would you do if your clan just vanished...?
DN: maybe a rich banquet. Something extravogant and comfortable. The DN was snatched away from a life of privilege to become a warden, and I'm sure they secretly (or not so secretly) yearn to go back to it.
DC: Tricky one. Possibly an endless, tireless Proving battle, taking out your rage on those you hate - whoever they are. Your worthless family? Your oppressive aristocrats? The bullying carta? The hated darkspawn?
