Just out of interest, is everyone who's having this problem playing the Region 2 version of the game? If so, maybe it's region specific (might explain why Jesse has been unable to recreate it so far).

All i can say is i am going to be very upset if it messes up my choices on my almost completed playthrough as i was planning on exporting that character as my renegade character to 3 and do not want to have it all out of wack :(

I don't know this for sure of course, but I think this glitch only triggers if you start a new game or NG+ with the patch enabled; as it seems to incorrectly record the decisions you make in Genesis.  If it messed with games already started before the patch I think there would be a lot more complaints about it on these forums.

I can't guarantee that of course, but it seems to be the case so far.  I am going to try enabling the patch later on in my playthrough to see if there is an impact.  As long as I don't save the game if anything goes wrong, it should be fine if I delete the patch again and continue.

ok if you have time could you update us on if your choices are messed up after you start the game and enable the patch much appreciated if you can. You also make a good point Sestrensaz as there probably would be alot more people complaining if everything was out of whack by just starting up a save after installing the patch.

Well, for what it's worth after I installed the patch the game seems to remember my decisions fine. I went to the Citadel and spoke to Anderson and the rest of the Council as well as Udina - they all responded as expected. Udina was the advisor, Anderson the councillor.

So, I would tentatively say that this glitch doesn't appear to affect games that have already been started. I guess a work around for now is to start games with no patch, then install the patch and carry on as normal. This is obviously quite a problem for anyone wanting to start a NG+, however. So still quite an annoying bug.

Ok that is good to know thanks for the update! Yeah it will not help anyone wanting to play NG+ with the correct choices hopefully they fix this soon.

I just checked and the same problem is happening to me. Council saved, but Jacob says they're dead. I'm playing on a 80 gig PS3 with Region 2 version of the game, my patch is version 1.02. I have the cerberus network, arrival and alternate appearance pack 2 installed. I was so happy to hear the NG+ was fixed, and now I have to wait again.

Jesse, why are you guys even having the Genesis comic come up on a NG+?  Does that make sense to you?  The choices have already been made for that character.

And from what I am reading in this thread it sounds like the glitch causes the canon choices to be defaulted.  As if Genesis never even ran.

This just happened to me today. Jacob says Kaiden is dead, but when you start playing the game, it realizes your choices from the comic book. Its just one incorrect audio mixed up line somehow that doesn't change how the game reads your choice, at least I think so.

Have you been able to recreate the problem Jesse? I know you were working on it yesterday just curious if you have made any progress in determining the problem?

Same problems. Region 1 (NA). I started a NG+ and all my choices are not properly reflected. Kaiden died when I saved him, council seems dead when I saved them, so that does not bode well for the rest. I am deleting this NG+ and waiting for a fix. I wanted this playthrough to be the one I carry over to ME3. Please fix. Thanks.

If you go to your room which person shows up in the photo frame? It should be best guess the person that died (it use to be a bug in 1.00 not sure if they have addressed that or not, I forget)
Me I am still using 1.00.[/quo

Ok but why are you still using 1.00 considering they fixed the New game + glitch in the second patch and the corrupted data glitch that some people got so IMO its alittle strange that you are using that version unless you haven't played it in awhile then I understand but if you have I just do get it but your right also cause I chose to save the cousil but when I went to talk to the reporter it said I didn't but when it came to who I saved it was correct so far.

Glad to hear y'all can reproduce it.  The sooner its fixed, the sooner I'll be back to playing it.

Though, MINOR not-a-bug irritation I have noticed:  the departure cut scene for Illium is not "skipable".  No need to address if 'fixing' introduces more problems (even minor ones).

I've just encountered this. After the patch (1.02, PAL Region 2) I started a new game+, made the same genesis decisions (including saving the council), but this time the game acted like I'd sacrificed the council when I eventually got to the citadel. I thought I'd made an error in the comic and picked the wrong selection.

I was so annoyed at myself, I started a new game with a new character (wanted to try a different class anyway), chose the same outcome for the citadel, but this time noticed that the game had me sacrificing the council when I talked to Jacob just after meeting the Illusive Man for the first time.

Should I wait for another patch before visiting the citadel, or has the damage already been done? I suppose it depends on whether the flag for the council fate is being incorrectly set or incorrectly read.

(Edit  - Clarify Patch Version and Region)

I think the only way as of now until bioware provides another patch to fix this is to delete the patch information and play the game at 1.00 version. Create your new game, play through the prologue and watch/make your choices in genesis. Then after the character creation save your game and quit then reinstall patch 1.01 and 1.02 and in some regions (1.03). Because if you play through genesis without the new patch it will transfer your choices over correctly since something within the new patch is causing the glitch to happen. Very inconvenient but at least you would still be able to play now rather then wait for another patch.

I think the patch data is merged into the DLC/Game data file itself, so if you already have the patch, then to get rid of it you have to delete your entire game data/DLC file. Then redownload the DLC, and reinstall game data and then reinstall DLC. Start game, ignore the patch request, and then go. AKA, get the Preparation H b/c this workaround will be one pain in the you-know-where.

I too suffer from this issue. Luckily I have multiple saves, and in one of them Kaiden is alive! And so is the council!

I should have never updated! :(

I have multiple saves as well, but I want to play as a sentinel, then adept and then engineer. Need new game for playing a new class.

I'm going to delete my DLC/Game data and do the whole redownload bit and wait to run the patch till AFTER I create each of the games with the class of characters I want to play. Yeah... this is going to take 5 hours. Because the whole intro cutscene is NOT skippable.

I think the earliest point to save at will be after one confirms with Jacob whether or not the council survived (I usually sacrifice Kaiden unless I'm selecting a romance with Liara).

Question that I'm not sure anyone has tried: have folks gotten the bug if they install the CN pack AFTER they install the 1.02 update?

Hello everyone! First time here...

So, having recently been introduced to this fine series my copy arrived some few hours ago. I went ahead and installed the game & DLC, presuming there would be no problems. I then went ahead and downloaded the CN and while it was doing so looked around, stumbled across this forum, and to my horror I've come across this problem. I'm a bit gutted that I am potentially now facing a broken (brand new, may I haste to add) game. Quickly, while the CN download neared its finish, I deleted both game install and patch. CN has now finished and I am now re-installing the game (minus patch). Is this a waste of time - i.e am I still likely to require a re-download of CN?

Thanks.

I have tried this and it did not work.

That being said I just recently purchased the game and I'm having the same issues. So the only fix currently is  to delete the game data and DLC then reload without the patch? Doesn't the patch fix some nasty save data corruption error?
