Hi there,

I was wondering if someone could give me a little hint. I searched the net but didnt find something useful.
I used texmod to get a Mage Armor from DA2 and retextured it. Now i have the Jpg but dont know what to do with it. Do i need a specific file Name ? And how do i make the Jpg to the right File Format ?

Sorry, i couldnt find it ( was searching for an hour now ) :crying: Helps please

Texmod is unnecessary for DAII. You'll want to extract the texture you want from its .erf, edit it in Photoshop or Gimp or Paint.net... something that can edit .dds files. Then you'll need to repack it into a new .erf and drop it in your override folder.

Texmod is basically the devil.

Here's a tutorial. As written, the tutorial focuses on face-swapping, but it's relevant for any .erf file, including, artfp.erf, which contains all the textures. It will spit them out in .dds format, which you will probably need a plugin to edit in your image editor of choice; Google will steer you right.

The programs you'll want for unpacking and repacking .erfs are all on the page that Twofold Black very helpfully linked (while you were typing your post, I assume :P) :)

Hmpf.. I cant get it to work.
Even if i use those tools. Unpack the .erf file it gives me file names like [f086db31a615bf33].dds
but there are nowhere armor textures.. I extracted artfp.erf and texturepack.erf.

What the volus am i doing wrong here ?
Was retexturing for 6 hours now and cant get it to work this is really... ahh im starting to cry .. hit some volus... :pinched:

But even if...
it gives me the right file, what do i do then ? Like i understand i just need this stuff to find the right file. But i already have the armor file (which i edited). Do i need it to find the right file_NAME ? I dont get it at all ^^

Oooh, yeah. You need to download the finlename database as well.

On the pyGFF project page, download the "fnvdump-20110320.zip" file and import according to the instructions. Most of the filenames should show up after that.

Once you have the file and edit it like you want, you need to pack it back into an .erf, preserving the correct folder hierarchy. And yes, it has to have the correct filename (which will be an actual name, not a hex string).
