Would have been very interesting if sales figures could have been added to the mix since a large portion of people who like/dislike DA2 never visit these forums.

As Rockpopple noted, you have serious sampling issues going on here, above-and-beyond the usual issues of forum polling. While those who detest a product are likely to complain in the short term, they're highly unlikely to stick around for years. The exact opposite trend is likely with those who are seriously smitten with a product; indeed, I would state that nearly everyone hanging around a product's forums two years after release is likely to have a positive opinion.
Of course, you may indeed be right - more people may have liked DA:O at launch than liked DA:2 at launch. But it's impossible to prove using the methodology you're using here.
Actually, you're wrong there at the part I highlighted. With regular products that would be the case, but since this is regarding games (and being discussed on forums) and when looking at the population of the polls, I'd dare say the most would stick around (just take a peek at which games the most own, it's varied enough to stick around).
Also, I'd gamble when looking in-depth that people wouldn't actually get more positive about it (unless some big patches/updates are released), but more likely less unless they truly love the game (in which case they'll permanently be able to ignore any possible flaws).
Your argument isn't null and void, but not completely with merit either.
@OP: Good thread!

Good poll. I hope Bioware finds a better balance between loyal fan expectations and wooing the CoD crowd in their next game.
Yeah...How about not trying to woo the CoD crowd ever again.

Really all they need to do is not SAY it, because pretty much everyone who heard it missed the point and actually thinks they were trying to get the entire CoD audience over here... which is absurd.

Look at DanUK's "Enjoy-O-Meter". It's about as "official" a poll as any of the above are, as long as Dan is keeping an eye on which Username is voting more than once and not counting their vote. If we assume he is, then basically the same rules that govern his poll governs the above polls, and in his poll the vast majority of people give DA II very high "enjoy...O" ratings. That doesn't mesh completely with half of the people hating it... but then again neither are very scientific.
I'm just saying that at the very least it's fair to say that opinions are rather mixed, even at this point.

Another thing to consider about polls.... people might not be being completely honest with them. I'm not saying anyone's lying! I'm just saying it's a possibility that SOME might be lying.

Which is exactly the result of these polls... Or you dont think so?

Of course they're mixed, and I agree with that. I'm only wondering as to the DEGREE of the split. The polls in this excellent study (this thread) say it's evenly split, and it has WAY more numbers than DanUK's unorthodox poll. I'm leaning towards that one.
I'm just wondering, after looking at DanUK's poll, how many people might be either overstating or understating what they really feel about the game and how they vote for it in other polls. That's all. I think it's a legit question, as none of these are scientific polls.
But they're good. Let me be clear: I'm not complaining.

Bioware you should seriously consider a sticky, so that people add to these polls rather than starting replicas.

I'm a freak of nature..loved DA:O when it came out..LOVED DA2, and now going back and replaying DA:O I'm having a hard time finishing.
But that's because the only thing I didn't like about DAO was the painfully slow combat. And it's even harder having experienced DA2's. Buuuut saying that around here is usually call for lots of hate heh.
The new combat is a step back from Origins IMHO. Origins combat was more fun and I played both on console.

Very informative thread! It's a shame that there are so many fans who dislike DA2.

If any sales were to be taken into account, you would (I think) have to discount the first month or at least first 3 weeks because DA2 is a sequel and the first few weeks are mostly made up of fans of the first title. Unlike DAO which was a new series so sales figures while might have some who bought due to Bioware brand most of it would be more reliable or useable from standpoint totally new setting and story plus gameplay meaning most of the sales for that would be new players (to that new IP).
If wanted to cut out most of fans of either brand or series would have to discount first 3 weeks of both games and the real comparrison comes after that imo.

Yes but we have to realize that his thread header does not indicate that it is a poll so people who enjoyed the game would be more likely to go into his thread than those who didn't, thus dramatically affecting his results. The way something is worded can affect the results of polls. And you are correct opinions are very mixed.

Probably too late now, but would have been interesting to see a breakdown on each poll between console and PC gamers... I am sure the platform one plays on has quite an impact on whether you like the game or not...

EDIT: Ok, it is not fake. Your polls are right. But from what I have saw from other polls there were DA2 winnign all the way.
EDIT2: And I found a nice comment on your poll " dont trust 12 year olds to give you an answer to a game please... go read a review from a proffesional EX:IGN,Game Informer, The Escapist etc. "

Well for me personally I played DAO and DA2 on Xbox 360, LOVED DAO but was greatly disappointed with DA2. I doubt I set the trend for console players though, lol.

Another Xbox 360 user here that loved DAO and was extremely let down with DA2.
