Self: Being attacked by a melee attack -> Guardian Angel

It's not like stealthing, the GA actually draws aggro, which is very nice.

EDIT: Maybe even melee/ranged, can't remember. Just like Anders, I have a serious dislike for him. All that whining about the maker, evil blood magic and kittens is really getting to me. I do like Anders dmg-wise, so I still use him every once in a while, though.

Recently been messing around with a full-on Elemental, and I have to say it's pretty much cheapening Nightmare. I can destroy an entire mob with one Firestorm, and stragglers (and next waves) die insanely quickly with CCCs (Staggers and Brittle both). I've even stopped really being anal about exploiting CCCs (i.e. insta-pause at the sight of a stagger to use it) because I just flat out DPS dudes into oblivion. I've also found you can still inflict Brittle on dudes who are immune to cold, which, if you're just looking for the Punishing Lance/Shattering Arrow CCC, is more than reasonable (especially with pretty short Grasp/Cone cooldowns).

The only threats to my survival with this experiment have been Varric Punishing Lancing me to exploit a Brittle, and me walking through my own Firestorms (been happening way too often, ha ). I'd have to say that's the definition of survivability and effectiveness. I'm going to try a Elemental Mage from the start (that Hawke started as a FM/SH controller) but I don't expect anything terribly different.

Why would you insta-pause? Tactics make it nicely automatic. The only thing that I do manually (if I don't see bolts of lightning on a stagger) is Hemorrhage if it's worth it. Sometimes I pause when I've disabled Archer's Lance because I got one up da butt a little more often that I would've liked. :)

LOL.. Welcome to my world.  The only fight i've run into that has been a worthy challenge for my all ranged party is Xebenkeck.   I have been messing about with it for a few days now trying various different approaches.  The challenge is to have the battle completed in under 2 minutes. :)

I'm on 360, and for some reason without pausing to aim it becomes....difficult to attack who I want it to (the targeting is painful for me on 360).  I only will really do it if it's me that has to exploit the Stagger (I always let Merrill exploit Staggers first).  Unfortunately it happens...a lot.

Man, from the video's I've seen, it looks nice, actually. It at least looks like you're able to switch target very quickly. On PC, we have to use the mouse which kind of break it a bit for me. If there would be a something like an FPS view with a "Lock on current target in center" or something that would be awesome.

At least, when I see Arelexx switch targets it looks like a nice to have. On PC, we do have a "Target nearest visible," but if that target isn't down yet, no matter where you move, pressing the button always goes back to that target until it's down.

Well, in terms of no-pause gameplay, I'm definitely no AreleX.  I'm not exactly good at rotating the camera to consistently target a mook with any consistency (particularly odd since I'd call myself a good CoD player and a reasonable Halo player).  So I have to pause a lot to satisfy my innate paranoia that the game will decide to screw me over and target the wrong enemy.  Which, oh, the game has done that way too many times.

Yes. It was easy.  Everything in there is weak to fire.  It was an absolute ass stomping for my build.

The only battle that has been moderately challenging is Xebenkeck.  I will post the videos shortly.  I have been toying with Xebenkeck and using it as a platform to test various builds across all three mages.

you know you could have purchased a couple of fire staves for lik 50 silver right? Lowtown trinkets. Just load the autosave untill they are in stock. It really shouldn't take long. Were you packing fire % gear? PLease tell me you were :).

Good to see you honored my request for HD and stats. Thanks for that.

I'm glad it wasn't a pushover which I half expected it to be. :)

Hehe.. They have waaaaaaaaaaaay to many hitpoints for it to be a pushover.

8000 for the rage demons
4000 for the abominations
15000 for the revenant
I have no idea what Xebenkeck has but she can take dual haste with 4 characters flinging 180+ damage per strike at her plus spells for 25 seconds. probably 50000HP

I'm sure you can get it done even quicker. :)

Someone was shooting the Revenant with a cold staff, and during one Brittle, Varric got stunned. :(
