Sebastian and Anders at Act 3

Not that it's unreasonable for him to demand Anders death, I mean this is a world with capital punishment and Anders just mass murdered a pile of innocents.
Mind you, on the playthrough I kept I killed Anders, perhaps (pettily) because he used me. I distracted Elthina for him, I trusted him, and this is what he did?

I get that he'll be forever clueless about raising that army he kept mentioning, but it still would've been nice to wrap up this loose-end. Sebastian was terribly dull and I shudder to think of him featuring into any big plans within DA3. That is, unless it finally lets us personally execute pious NPCs...

I agree 100%, I'm still regreting buying his DLC 'cause he's an one stupid zealot idiot... Hawke helps him (if player plays honorable Hawke whichever version of character), he is responsible for many deaths and then expects from Hawke to just kill Anders? I mean really, if he were man of justice and Maker's side he would not crave for such execution, thus actually being same as Anders - seeing only one side, having understanding only for his version of justice. Even Elthina scolds him few times 'cause of that... I can't stand Sebastian, he's dull and I actually laugh every time when he starts swearing - horrible character, just horrible.

Heh. Sebastian couldn't be more one-note even if he were to put his back into it. Just good fodder for Isabela.
Is it just me, or does he seem to be worse in combat than Varric too? Granted, 'tis a tough act to follow...

He always gets targetted on mine, and is far to squishy to stand up to any kind of punishment. So I leave him back in the Chantry, praying for the party's safety or whatever, with his friendship/rivalry barely going anywhere.

Yeah, that was it! I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way. xD Anders claims to be doing it for all mages through the entire game up until that point, then it's all about him becoming a martyr; I can't look at him the same way after that.Inzhuna wrote...

Honestly, the only thing that bothered me about killing Anders is when he says something like, "Kill me then, I can't wait to die and be a martyr for mages!" I don't remember verbatim, but my Hawke was rivals with him so that maybe affected it.
I sat there for a minute and almost didn't do it just to spite his ass, but I didn't want to lose Seb. xD
But seriously Anders... wtf? x_x
Gah, I know. I hated that. 'The sooner I die the sooner my name can become a rallying cry for mages across Thedas'. I really wanted to kick him in the head for that. >_<

I didn't see it that way at all. A martyr does wonders for a cause. It motivates people like few things can, and that's what he wanted. He wanted the mages to start standing up for themselves and if his dying was what had to happen, then he was happy to die for it. He said that precisely because this was about something bigger than him, and he honestly believed that was the best way he could help.vocalemuse wrote...

Ugh, did that make any sense? I feel like I'm not making myself very clear.

I was only irked that I had to use the murder knife. I may have thought Anders deserved to die, but as a long time character and possible friend, he should have gotten the quicker death of the giant execution sword. Of course, this way they can bring him back if they want. There's no coming back from decapitation. Still, a knife in the back is kind of a sleazy way to execute someone.
This! x 10. I wanted a murder bazooka just for that moment... and little bitty bits of Anders all over the place.

He's definitely worse than Varric, because Varric is hot shiznit. If Varric isn't raining down the death by the endgame, then you've done something wonky with his build or equipment (and that's hard to do, since Bianca autolevels).
Seriously, is this "Varric sucks" idea actually a thing that's out there? Because I find it baffling.

Personally I was hoping for death by phasepunch. But I'm a bit biased.PurebredCorn wrote...

I really wish you could use the companion interaction option for that. I'd like to see if they said anything dramatic or had different kill methods, or if any of them refused.

Anders and Sebastian both make good points on their beliefs but still I rather have Sebastian declare war on me than killing Anders again and making me feel horrible about it.
*sighs* I like them both but at some point there both douchebags but I really rather see someone go then kill them, I guess I still like Anders too much from before, I blame Justice for this.

It seems to boil down into two camps: those that like Seb, and those that hate him. I hated him. He was a useless character and utterly annoying. Another warrior or mage would have been better because Varric was archer extraordinaire= no replacement needed.
Zealots just aren't enjoyable companions....unless you can corrupt them and turn them to the dark side.
I still wanted the murder knife option or the chance to fight him if you choose to spare Anders. <_<

Course if you hate him, it's a moot point... I'm sure if we get a Seb DLC you'll have an opportunity to kill him...
Me, I'm hoping to romance him.

"Sebastian, the chanty can not condone revenge."
"It is my right, my duty, to show Anders there no where in Thedas to hide."
"Sebastian! This is murder!"
"No, what happened to Elthina was murder."
*Waits in the chantry, occasionally checking his mail to see if anyone has taken up huntng down Anders.*
I can see the DLC now. Make it happen Bioware.

I wish Sebastian had been a warrior too-- you can never have too many. But if he is doing poorly in fights, it's because of you--you have to replace his "grandfather's bow" as soon as loot or budget allows, and make sure you give him stealth. I thought he was awful at first, but with the right build I always take him into my final battles now. He's that good.

I didn't necessarily have a problem with him as a fighter. I bought the best bow I could find for him (I think it had 145 damage + messy kills + attack...something like that). I still found Varric to be better in battle, just because of Bianca- massive damage plus 4 rune slots made Varric unstoppable.
If we get more Sebastian in DLC, and he has more/better story, I would be willing to romance him. As he stands now, he is too much annoyance without enough benefit- to me. I know plenty of folks love him.
I read that there is supposed to be more Seb to come, I just wish we knew anything concrete about upcoming DLC. I want to know what to anticipate.

Huh, just finished my playthrough and I went and killed Anders, let me tell you, I wanted to keep Sebastian to see what was what at the end but when I actually did and had camera just standing there at his face seeing him made me feel horrible, I mean, he is a douche for doing what he did but still did they have to add that much drama to make me feel bad about it? Thanks alot Bioware I dont think I can do that again any time soon.

Whenever someone says "I felt bad about killing someone" and they're talking about a video game character, it makes my heart happy and I want to give a cookie to Bioware (or anyone that made the character).
Thumbs up.

The only way I would kill Anders is if he tried to kill me. Someone that loves you doesn't want to physically harm you. That act would tell me that he had truly become an abomination. But until that time I cannot kill him for killing others, no matter how awful the crime. There's still a shred of Anders in there, and I would stay with him until that sliver of humanity was gone.
I agree. How many people does Hawke slaughter throughout the game? :innocent:
Anders isn't just going around, sucking out random souls and killing all in his path. He has a particular group he rains wrath on. Whether you agree with his motivation/reasons, he's not crazy. My mage PC was even more hardcore than Anders, and was only mad that he didn't let her help.

Ha Ha!! I would pay to see that. LOL
You don't get this guy though... the reason he always retreats to the chantry is because he is so hot headed. Did you see his face after he nailed the Desire Demon with his arrow? Pure rage. The chantry has simply tempered his fire. I have no doubt, when he comes back in the DLC, he will be in warrior mode, not Priest. He's been there, done that. And it all fell apart.
