Leliana - Laura Pyper
Alistair - Jamie Bamber (though too old now, I suppose, perhaps he'd do for Cailan), maybe Charlie Hunnam
Niall/Jowan - Ola Rapace
Loghain - Paul McGann? He's been in a lot of crap, but he can act, and even act tough. Saw him at the Globe last autumn.
Maric for flashbacks - Damian Lewis
Wynne - Clare Higgins
Anora - Clémence Poésy, if she can surpress her vowels orlaisienne. Image IPB If not, then maybe Romola Garai
Eamon - David Warner

So apparently my DA movie would involve thin sculpted people shouting at each other. Like 90% of Hollywood movies then.

So you're saying the French are short?

The most important thing is that Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson not be allowed to write, direct or come anywhere near the movie.

THIS!

You know, there was a category for "Game most deserving of an Uwe Boll adaptation" in a rating of really bad games somewhere.

I'd really love to see Mila Jovovich as Leliana, but would sincerely hope she'd say something like "Chicken good!" or "Multipass" somewhere along the lines. Maybe when succesfully lockpicking some door, and then state "Multipass!"

By the way, who's going to take the role of Sandal?

I’d rather see a TV series than a movie, and to portray Thedas in the mature setting it is intended to be seen. I mean, I’m surprised that people are comparing Dragon Age to Lord of the Rings. Dragon Age is more in tune with (though tamer than) A Song of Ice and Fire, than it is with Lord of the Rings.

As for actors, I don’t know – relatively, good unknown ones. But an actor for Sten, I notice a lot of Africa-Americans, and Arnie – though the Arnie quotes in a DA setting made me laugh to the point I would enjoy seeing it, but I look at Sten and I think Middle Eastern actor.

Hugo Weaving as Loghain? Let's think about that a bit...

"Well, Mr. Cousland, it appears you've been living TWO lives. In one, you are the only living heir to the Teyrnship in Highever, you are an accomplished warrior, and you have a shot at marrying my ****y, duplicitous daughter.

The other is spent with the Grey Wardens, where you cut down Darkspawn, drink poisoned blood, and feed Cailan's fantasies, ultimately leading to his demise.

Now ONE of these lives has a future. And the other does not."

Yeah... doesn't quite work for me either!

Most of game/comic to movie adaptations are full of fail, so why bother.

Just have Blur do a 3D animated movie like the trailers.

Oghren needs to be played by Mark Boone

Check it out, fat, ugly, dirty, but a complete and utter bad @** takes out like 20 vampires! He's also the corrupt cop on Batman Begins.

CGI. Why pay a ridiculous amount of money to actors when they can just use what they have and make it a movie and then use that money to rehire the voice actors.

Don't know what the movie would be about though, I played the game, I know how it ends. :P

The way you get input is do the book not the game (assuming as the author you have the rights to the book I am not sure how that works).

Intensity for logain yes.  I have started reading the stolen throne and I am amazed.  Not only is it a good game book it is a good BOOK!  (which as impressed as I was with your work in the game I didn't expect...sorry).  This I think would make a great movie.  You also captured the character of logain in the opening of the book incredibly well.  The first major battle we see, is also amazinly like the battle where calin dies...with people making different choices.  I would love to be able to point that out to logain at some point....

Oh - I want to jump in on this bandwagon!

Here are my choices:

Alistair - Channing Tatum

Leliana - Eva Green

Sten - Conan Stevens (okay - so I know he's not as dark as Sten, but that could be easily fixed, no?)

Zevran - Giulio Berruti

Loghain - Daniel Day-Lewis

Eamon - Sean Connery

Teagen - Sean Bean

Oghren - John Rhys-Davies (yeah - Gimli is still stuck in mi head XD)

Wynne - Helen Mirren

Morrigan - Catherine Zeta-Jones

And I'm sure I could think of more, but these are the ones the popped into my head.

Hmm. I have to say that some of the actors people are picking for Alistair are a little on the old side. With movies you'd have to much more consider the physical age and appearance as much as the voice and personality.

For me, Alistair is best represented by a young British actor like Simon Woods or Hugh Dancy.

For Morrigan, Kate Beckinsale might work (also British) but I also like Emily Blunt or even Ellen Page (though she's a bit young... mind you, it's not as if movies never take liberty with character ages).

For Leliana, Milla Jovovich is nice. Bryce Dallas Howard or perhaps Evan Rachel Wood could also work.

For Zevran... Antonio Banderas? Seriously? I've seen people suggest him, but this is clearly based on voice. Physically the man is just too old and too... big (meybe 10 years ago he would suit, but not now). I would think Gael Garcia Bernal, myself, or even Alan Cumming (he certainly can do flamboyant).

For Loghain, I would go with Gary Oldman or even Anthony Hopkins... someone with intensity.

Meh. I know we'll never get to actually have input in such a beast (were it to ever happen), but still it's nice to imagine. Image IPB

<3Hey, how about Jamie Bamber from "Battlestar Galactica"  as Alistair! I think he would be perfect, I was watching some behind the scene videos this morning and his personality, his voice, his body, his humor, its all just PERFECT! He just needs his hair lightened, and BAM, you've got Alistair!

For Morrigan, when I hear her speak, I think "Elizabeth Hurley", but sexed down just a little.

This is a random pick, but for Eamon, I keep thinking Patrick Stewart.

For Anora, just because I love her and because I know she can play deceptive, I would pick Trisha Helfer.

Terrible idea to make a movie about the game. but I could very well see a movie set in that world which is, for a game world, quite detailed.

-----

Here's my suggestion:

The movie begins with an intro (ala LotR) - perhaps visualizing the intro of the game itself about the curse of the magisters and their return as the first darkspawns.

-----

The action could center on any of the following:

- The first Blight and the creation of the Grey Wardens - or

- Andraste's Holy March against Tevinter - her betrayal and martyrdom - or

- Kordillus Drakon's wars that led to the foundation of the Orlaisian Empire - or

- Marec and Loghain's war against Orlais and the freeing of Ferelden - or

- a movie about Morrigan and her child - a prodigy attracting the attention of the Chantry, the Tevinters and the Darkspawns...

The only rules for my movie version of DAO :

NO voice actors playing the parts
NO models (that means Victoria Johnson, Alleykatze sit down)
NO one from Firefly, Galactica, LOST or any cult shows

think outside the box people.

David, I love you. You're seriously exactly like my best girl friend. I could imagine having slumber parties with you and squeeing over chick flicks all night. I'm not sure why you know every super fan-girly thing about me, but I like it.

Some of these choices for Zevran are skin crawlingly bad (Jamie Campbell Bower looks like someone hit him in the face with a frying pan, all acting ability aside).I have to veto Gael Garcia Bernal too, although that one I can at least imagine.

Ian Sommerhalder is probably the best suggestion so far, with runner-up going to Giulio Berruti or maybe tied with Berruti and Bloom. My vote, however, goes to Eduardo Verástegui (too bad he wouldn't ever do it)

Kate Beckinsale. Take her character in Underworld, deduct pointy teeth, give her red hair and leather armor and BAM. Leliana.
