I would mutter to myself how all of this should have been in DA 2 and how this really is the fall of bioware, then depending on meteoritic user review I might buy it. Oh and if it ended up longer and better than the actual game with a new cast of characters although Sebastien can come along as he is part of the chantry and it should revolve around the chantry trying to get back lost Templars or recruit the mages in taking out the new Templar order.
What will you do when they announce the Dragon Age 2 expansion?

I'm ready to pre-order it!
I didn't mind most of the changes that others complained about with DA2. My only gripe was that the side quests where some random person gives you money were poorly executed in the sense that they didn't feel like real quests. I would only learn about the quest after the fact, checking my journal to try to figure out why the hell this guy just gave me money.
Ideally these quests would have been given in a dialogue with the quest giver, or at a minimum on some sort of Mage's Board / Chanter's Board type of interface.
IMO, an expansion with lots of side quests is exactly what DA2 needs. The excellent art direction, balanced gameplay, challenging combat, compellign characters and engaging story are already set up for the world of DA2. All that is missing IMO is a few more area maps, some new monsters/enemies and some good side quests.
(I haven't finished the main quest yet, so I have no idea how the expansion would fit in to the story.)

Wait for some reviews to see if they've addressed any of the many issues I have with DA2. Then check the forums here once it's out to see what (if any) problems/issues people are having with it. Then think carefully about whether I should buy it after being let down so hard with DA2. Bioware still has the capability to make great games, I just hope they'll take their time with an expansion and release something truly great like DA:O and Awakening.

This one wont, DA2 was hardly an RPG, and vertainly not good enough to justify buying anything without several good reviews from sites not affiliated with/taking advertising money from EA.

It has been stated before the game came out that there would be more small DLC items and no large Awakening type expansions for DA2, Im at work and cant look it up, but it has been said by BioWare. Not Trolling, they said they didnt make enough money off of the large ones etc.

DA2 DID prove the devs listen to gamers and critics, and take an active stance in fixing the most common complaints (they were way to gung-ho while making DA2 though. They attacked complaints so head on they created entirly new glaring problems!)
While DA2 was a disapointment, ultimatly, in the long run, I feel it will beneficial to the series, as long as a good balance between DA:O and DA2 can be found.
Hopefully an expansion for DA2 would offer the perfect chance for bioware to start finding that balance long before DA3.
