I basically look at it as an interactive 30 hour movie,
There you go. I wanted a deep western RPG in the tradition of Baldur's Gate 2 and DAO. Instead I got an interactive movie with respawning CoD black ops gameplay. Not what I thought I was buying....
In terms of general game play though, it wasn't that different from Origins. In Origins, there were large chunks of dialogue scenes, then you exploring or doing some quest, and then talking to the person again.
The main difference is you're confined to Kirkwall and the surrounding environs, resulting in the world feeling much "smaller." DA2 does not have the same travel-the-country-feeling that Origins had, and I admit that I got sick to death of Kirkwall after a while. I got the feeling that the devs' way of trying to keep Kirkwall "fresh" was to include the "respawning CoD black ops gameplay" that you mention. Unfortunately, that just ended up being an annoyance.
