LOL!Glad to know that I am not the only one who hates Merrill.Yup,she has a good heart,and adorable personality,but she is no doubt one of the most selfish character,besides Anders in the game..Ugh,sometimes I just want to choke her death lmao!

I love her voice actress. I even love her party banter. But I HATE her character. It's not that I think she's written badly.. I just hate her. I keep TRYING to find ways to like her and I can't. I have this thing about 'naive innocents' who bring about destruction because of their pride. I mean, at least it's acknowledged that Anders is insane by most people except his extreme apologists. (I did a romance Anders playthrough where I even let him live and ended up with him. But HE acknowledges that he's deluding himself on some issues and that he's a danger, so he's not trying to go Nuh huh. I'm totally in the right!) Merrill seems to want you to believe she's honestly in the right and how -sacrificial- she's been for her clan and woe is she...and yes, what happens to her is tragic. But her own fatal flaw of willfully not listening brings it about. And yes, I'd love it if it was easier just to kill her. I think in a place with the veil is as thin as Kirkwall, her blood magic has the opportunity to be WAY more dangerous than most mages are.

Actually, it's more the Dalish being xenophobic dumbasses and Keeper Marethari commiting what is quite possibly the stupidest action in the game that leads to clan's death, which is what I assume you're referring to. 

Funnily enough, outside of actual combat Merrill's actions never directly lead to the death of anyone. On the other hand, people quite often get themselves killed out of fear of what Merril might do.

Actually if Bioware brought out a DLC where you could kill all your companions I'd buy it especially if you could bring them back as the undead and then kill them again. Yes I would also allow Varric and Aveline to live. They are the only ones that didn't inspire me to want to rip off their limbs and bludgeon them to death with the limb of choice.

Merrill?  Meh.  I'm not a fan, not by a longshot, but I don't really want to *kill* her.  I do want to kill Sebastian.  But I guess it's better that such a thing is not possible.  If it was possible to kill Sebastian I'd just sit at my computer and constantly replay the scene in orgasmic glee until I died of either thirst or exhaustion in my computer chair.

I liked Merrill...but I feel your pain...would have liked to cut Sebastion up in little pieces...he got on my everlasting nerves. At least with Fenris I could kill him in the end if I sided with the mages or give him back to his master or watch him go bye-bye because I wouldn't do his quest fast enough(self centered egotist)...no I didn't like Fenris either.

Not all of them, no. But many inside the Gallows were. And you are defending them. And a criminal is nowhere near as dangerous as a Blood Mage. Mano-a-mano I got a reasonable chance of surviving, mano-a-blood mageo, i got next to zero chance to even know he was there.

Never ever played any game involving companions where I hated one of them as much.

Gudos to Bioware for making her as such but she boils my blood, I need her quests cause of the resources in it. But I am almost to a point to summon the resources rather than doing her quest. She is stupid.. ignorant to unbelieveable mesaures.. I just want something to be done to be able to get rid of her... My thinking is at her last quest to be able to hand her over to Dalish for them to execute her and me watch and laugh my head off ( being polite).

I guess finally I found Dalish elves' reason to exist in DA universe. They are waiting for next big shot hero to slaughter them. Warden could so Hawke. Wait for DA 3 and more Dalish will be blessed by main character.

In DA2 if you are a mage and unless your name happens to be Bethany there's a 99.9% chance you are a blood mage.

Well, i would never use the option. But i like to watch vidos of the pointless betrayals one can inflict on many companions in Bioware games. Some kind of amused horror. Like letting Morinth kill Samara. Or calling for Alistair's execution. Or delivering Fenris to Danarius. This stuff is so evil that it is funny. Well ok, letting Meredith kill Bethany just makes me sad. Merrill would propably be the same.

I don't see how it's comparable.

Merril wants to recover technology, causing outrage among a bunch of blockheads who's stated purpose in life includes recovering that technology.
Is it really Merril's fault that the Dalish are a bunch of lying cowards?

Anders on the other hand blew up innocent people to start a war, because he's an abomination.

Somehow I think that if Merrill and Anders switched causes, Merrill would still be as honest as she is, and Anders would still be the liar he is.

The biggest problem people have with Anders isn't that he did it.  It's that he didn't trust Hawke enough to say "Hey, I'm going to blow **** up and start a war.  You with me?"
