So I’ve looked around (maybe not well enough though) and I have a specific question. I want to import my ME 1 character into ME2 and play, but I don’t want Ashley as a romance (I want no romance from ME1). It seems like the ONLY way to make it through ME 1 w/o a romance (as a male) is to either be a jerk to the women (as well as replaying the whole game) or to set Ashley as the romance but dead (which I hear still registers as a romance/picture of her on the desk). Is there a way to use Gibbed’s editor to do this/can you point me to the place that already has this information.

All I really wanted was to import and play ME2 again without some previous girlfriend (edit out Ashley as a love interest). I’ve looked at the plot flags, but I’ve read loads of conflicting stories about what works, If i were to do the following, would this work/can anyone confirm:

I import my ME 1 Shep.
Save game
Edit that Save Game with Gibbed’s Mass Effect Save Editor (Build revision 25) for
1) Plot/MassEffect1/Flags/[Player] Romanced someone (currently checked, so I would uncheck) and
2) Plot/MassEffect1/Flags/[Player] Romanced Ashley (currently checked, so I would uncheck, and Daidan and Liara are unchecked)

Would I be able to play ME 2 w/o any ex-girlfriends (esp. ones that might try to haunt me in ME3 for being nice to them in ME1)? I don't want to kill off Ashley, but I was also not intrested and adored Tali from day one.

-Thanks for any feedback or direction to pre-existing pages I couldn't find.

the romances are easier to avoid in 2 and you don't need to be a jerk, shepard lets them know he's not interested and they seem to take it well

Sure, but im more concerned with the romances in ME 1. I just want to romance Tali as my characters FIRST girlfriend/love intrest, and I am wondering if I can edit out (with Gibbed) the previous misunderstanding and dive right into ME 2 again. The whole "cheating on your ME 1" romance seems harsh since i was only ever nice to Ashley and didn't want her to die.

You can possibly avoid it by just not talking to Ashley or Liara at all.

Alternatively wait for the Genesis comic to get a release for PC and 360 as it has a "no romance" option.

The comic looks intresting, to be sure, but it only allows you to make 6 major choices (from what I read) and I was hoping for more of the particulars to be imported.

Still looking for help/confirmed use of the Gibbed ME1 flag editor to remove Ashley as a ME1 romanace.

if you are going to edit your save that way, you are going to have to reimport the character into ME2 (basically, once you fix your romance flags, change game status in raw to complete - livedtofightagain) and then import this character from ME2. should fix your romance flags. also - you could simply use key phrases to stop romances with both Ashley and Liara. with liara, I believe neutral option (I just want to be friends) is the none bugged one. and with Ash, I think it was "you're out of line" option, which permanently removes the romance flag and allows you to keep talking to her with no fear.

edited to add - very important.  your second import most definitely has to be from the ME2 save, just reloading the game will NOT apply ME1 changes.

also - when editing romance flags, you also might want to edit romance progress in values.  just set it to 0 for all LI's

So it seems like I am being misunderstood. Repeatedly people keep mentioning something like “you can avoid/simply pick conversation options with Ashley or Liara…” There are no conversation options in ME2 that will remove the ME1 romance. I assume these people are talking about replaying ME1 and choosing specific conversation options, which I and others are looking to avoid, as mentioned above. Moreover, I was looking for confirmation that the process I described worked (or didn't), rather than guessing or suggestion, although I thankful to thoes that are trying to help. I am going to post a list of what I am doing and report back later if it seemed to work (though I’m guessing we need to wait for ME3 to really know).

There is the process, and I’ll report later and post on youtube if it works (I have yet to see an “ Ashley lived and WAS NOT romantically involved with Male Shep.” video.

1) Downloaded Gibbed’s Mass Effect Save Game Editor.
2) Backed up the ME2 profile/saves I planned to edit.
3) Opened the save I planned to edit (in my case, this save was a genuine playthrough in which I beat ME2 already)
4) Under the tabs Plot/Mass Effect 1/Flags I UNCHECKED three boxes, [Player]Romanced someone, [Player]Romanced Ashley, and [Citadel]The Fan intimidated Him (not necessary for romance, but a known bug). Also, liara and kaidan were naturally unchecked and Rescue Ashely was checked.
5) Under the tabs Plot/Mass Effect 1/ Values, move all three romance progress to 3 or less (I used 2 for all, since 3 is an unconfirmed value. 6= sex and 4 is what Ashley gets if you romanced her but she dies, also unconfirmed). It is worth noting that I was as nice to Kaidan as possible as a Male Shep and his value is 3.
6) Save the file.
7) Run Mass Effect and select New Game
8) Choose to import a ME 2 character
9) Choose the save that you edited.
10) Enjoy.

Is that even going to happen?

dude, isn't that the advice I gave you?  other options are being mentioned for the future reference - in case you decide to play through ME1 again, so that you don't have to go through this process.  except I also mentioned that you can edit out the state of the game to finished/lived to fight again even if you haven't finished the game - in other words on a freshly imported from ME1 character and it will work exactly the same way >_>

and yes it does work, as I've created several impots that weren't actualy imports in such a fashion, making sure that ME1 variables were the ones I wanted and not the default ones.

Unless I was misreading, 1/2 of the post was about replaying ME1 and nothing mentioned actual success in the Dibbed editor imports. Just "you might also' and "should fix your romance flags" whereas I was looking for something confirmed. If thats what you meant by "might" and "should" then thank you =D.

I'm making fast progress and will update with results and links to youtube videos for possible reference.

Thanks m8, I never knew what numbers to use since there is no cap on any numbers in gibbed. I think I have like 12 or something like that on romance xD
