Is it a flat regen, or is it added to the way classes regen, ie Mage/constantly, Rogue/per hit, or Warrior/per kill?

Well, that sucks then. But, I'm just curious if the +stamina regen adds to the stamina regen that goes with the types? I mean, if a warrior gets stamina on kill, does say a +5 stamina regen add to the amount you get on kill?

I don't think it does. It's very hard to measure because you can't actually see a number when the stamina is restored. If it's anything like Anders' self healing on killing blows it's probably something like 5%/10%/15% of stamina pool from Critters/Normals/Elites or even higher. This would be pretty easy to analyze by pointing at the stam pool right before the kill, but even if it was so the numbers would be so small that a bonus from +2 regen rate ring would pass unnoticeable unless you pump the stamina pool to something like 5000.

I don't think this is the case though. I'm pretty certain that the restore rate for rogues' basic attacks and warriors' killing blows are proportional to their stamina pool so increasing it will have an effect.

I'm almost positive it's a passive 'X mana/stamina per X second of combat'. Since there are several skills that offer a passive +10 mana/stamina regen and until I got one of them my mage was dipping two thirds of her mana in a fight. The battle with the Arishok on my warriors/rogue gave me some idea on the regen rate, but I didn't do any counting. They had no +X stamina regen items/skills and bottomed out stamina, my mages both had a mastery skill and mana was no issues at all for the fight, just spell cooldown.

So, basically, screw items that give +regen and focus more on a flat +health/mana amounts, and just realize you're only getting back mana/stamina from potions, end of combat, and some talents?

Mana/Stamina regen items only seem to be of noticeable effect on long fights or lots of active ability usage without regaining abilities (Blood Lust, Death Blow and such). Really, Arishok dual would be the most idle fight for those items.

Oooh why do I even bother?

Okay one last time-

- Base stamina regen rate is 0.2% of total stamina per second.
- Base mana regen rate is 0.3% of total mana per second.
- Every point in mana/stamina regen rate (described in items and abilities as +# mana/stamina regeneration rate) regenerates additional 0.01% of total mana or stamina per second.

To determine which item will provide more mana return consider this:
- At each level, 1 mana regen point would give the same amount of regen rate as an additional 3⅓% increase to your total mana pool.
- At each level, 1 stamina regen point would give the same amount of regen rate as an additional 5% increase to your total stamina pool.

This is only to determine the mana/stamina regeneration rate.
If you want to find what item will allow you to use more abilities for X amount of time you need to create your own formula considering the regen rate per the amount of time compared to the added amount of mana/stamina.

That's because you didn't make the addy for your cool analysis a linky, that's why.  People get lazy sometimes and want to be spoonfed and their hands held.

I think what OP is asking, why it seem like those items doesn't even work. That's because generation rate of the items is so small that you can't even "see" it without been battle very long time. So, most the time +renegade items has as much value as toilet paper. Just go for items what adds total amount of something.

Now, the +20 health regen rate upgrade on Merrill's armor, that's a bit more significant...
