Out of curiosity, I checked to see if the 'pre-order ME3' link on the masseffect.com site worked - it still doesn't. Is this deliberate or is there some sort of technical error?
I'm in Australia if that helps.
ME3 still not available for pre-order

You can currently pre-order from amazon.com, no idea if it's available to australian customers though.

EB Games has it for pre-order. I haven't yet because I have no real idea what the game will be like, and I'll likely wait for a special edition to be announced, but the standard one can be pre-ordered. It's been in our system since around January.

We won't have any "real" pre-order things going on until BioWare starts to really talk up the game. Places like Amazon and EB Games only have pre-orders available on the grounds of "We know Mass Effect 3 is coming out, but that's about it."

Well Amazon doesn't sell games ot Australia unfortunately. I do notice though, and thanks Terror, that EB has it. $98 isn't bad, thought there isn't a chance in hell I'm paying that much.
Interestingly they also have ME2 on PC for $48 which includes a $20 EB gift card too. Not too shabby, and gives me even more reason to wait.

I have my copy pre-ordered at Gamestop. Needless to say, once the CE is announced, it will be switched to that.
But I'm in the United States, so I really don't know how to help you with your pre-order problem.

I'd recommend waiting for any announcements of pre-order bonuses before pre-ordering.

The best place for any Aussie gamer to buy games is OzGameshop, free shipping and the prices are reasonable. I'm sure you can pre-order directly from the official website when there is an official release date announced (they'll probably link to other retailers based on region as they did for DA2).

I am just curious here, why do people want to pre-order the game so early ? The release of Mass Effect 3 is at least 7 - 8 months away yet. hell it might not see a release till January 2012 for all we know. There is no information on anything ME 3 related such as pre-order bonuses (of which there will probably be about several hundred if I know EA). Any pre-order you make now is pretty pointless since it is highly likely you will end up changing the pre-order to get a specific bonus you want from another retailer.

I want to know what types of promotional item each vendor is offering before I place an order, but definitely collector/signature edition. I do hope however that we get to carry over our promotional items from ME2 to ME3.

There are some sites in the UK that are doing a pre order, but i'm waiting for the ultimate edition to be announced.

I'm waiting for some more info to find out how the game is shaping up. And if I decide to buy it, I won't settle for anything less than a Collector's Edition.

For my part, paying off a game well ahead of time is my way of making sure I don't have to worry about accidentally being short of money on launch day, as I'm terrible at holding onto my money. (If I ever get married, I'm abdicating all financial responsibility to my wife, and she will thank me for being responsible enough to do so.)
