It made me smile to see a Warden Alistair grace my screen during my playthrough, however, I was wondering if having him refer to my Warden, who was his beau by the end of Origins as an "old friend' was a small bug since it gave me the impression that she may be dead or he and her had parted ways.
I know I'm drawing huge conclusions here and I'm not expecting him to go into great detail about his love during a Qunari invasion but maybe he could have said "close" or "good" or possibly "this is from someone dear to me" when handing the amulet to Hawke.

I feel there is more emphasis on King Alistair and his Warden wife or consort. At least with their cutscene it seems as though the Warden is alive and well. Guess that's what I get for having my Warden keep Alistair all to herself :P and maybe something 'has' happened to the Warden as a consequence of making Alistair remain as one of the Grey.

I *thought* I heard that he was supposed to say something slightly different there so it very well could be bugged.

I'm fairly certain it's a bug. I imported a King Alistair/Queen Cousland save, so I can't speak from experience, but others have encountered this, and apparently it's bugged to think that your warden died killing the archdemon.

Yeah, it's a bug. =/ If your Warden is in a relationship with Alistair at the end of DAO and you're both alive, he should say something like, "Here, take this. It belongs to the love of my life, but she's always finding stuff like this so I bet she'd want you to have it," when he gives you that amulet before leaving with the Wardens.

Hopefully it'll be fixed in the upcoming patch, along with other missing dialogue scenes!

Warden Alistair has a couple of things he can say when he hands Hawke the ring.

Dead Warden + Romanced:
"Here, maybe this might help? It belonged to the love of my life... and she doesn't need it anymore."

Living Warden + Romanced:
"Maybe this might help? It belongs to the love of my life... but she seems to find stuff like this everywhere she goes."

Dead Warden:
"Here, maybe this might help? It belonged to an old friend of mine... who doesn't need it anymore."

Living Male Warden:
"Here, maybe this might help? It belongs to an old friend, but I'm willing to bet he'd like you to have it."

Living Female Warden:
"Here, maybe this might help? It belongs to an old friend, but I'm willing to bet she'd like you to have it."

King Alistair has a few lines based on the Warden relationship too. Also, Isabela has a (bugged) line that doesn't appear but should if Alistair joined the threesome.

Isabela: So you're a king, now? My, something new to brag about!
Alistair: Isabela. Yes, I remember you.
Isabela: I suppose borrowing you for the summer is out now?

Married to Fem Cousland:
Alistair: Well, I suppose I should get back to the old ball and chain.
Teagan: You know, the queen hates it when you call her that.
Alistair: No she doesn't. Just because she killed an Archdemon... she doesn't scare me.
Teagan: You keep telling yourself that, Your Majesty.

Warden is the Mistress:
Alistair: Well, I suppose we should be getting back.
Teagan: The Grey Wardens are waiting for you in Denerim.
Alistair: With more questions, I'll bet. Lovely.
Teagan: Indeed. You-know-who should already have returned from her mission.
Alistair: Is she? Well! Let's not tell the queen, then.
Teagan: Wouldn't dream of it, Your Majesty.

Or, if Alistair became king alone:
Alistair: Is she? Well! The day's looking up already.

No romance, but Alistair still king:
Alistair: Well, I suppose we should be getting back.
Teagan: We should. The Hero of Ferelden should be back in Denerim by now.
Alistair: You're always so formal. S/he has a name, you know.

Thank you peoples. <3

Awwwww.... those lines... *cries then swoons* Wow, well I'm glad I posted this now. I'm playing DA:2 on the PS3:

1. Will there be a patch for all platforms?

2. Do the DLC's in Origins I carry across with my saved Warden game i.e Awakenings, Witch Hunt cause any problems?

The Alistair lust from this fangirl has been sated... for now. :P I swear I need Dog like closure for Alistair... in WH: it reads (yes your dog is fine and was making lots of puppies)... In DA:2 it should read (yes Alistair and the Warden are fine and are making lots of sex... the end.) :P

Pretty happy it was just a bug and can be fixed. ;)

1. Yes, there will. They've said it should be here before the 30th, but since you are on PS3, the patch needs to be submitted to Sony who needs to approve it for PSN distribution. So... it's coming. Eventually.

2. It's more than one bug, but as near as people have figured, the game pulls approval information from the imported save. Unfortunately, if you import from Awakenings or any other DLC that isn't part of the main DA:O game, none of your companion approval information gets pulled into it. This means that a normal DA:O > DA2 import should work, but a DA:O > Witch Hunt or DA:Awakenings > DA2 import would lose that data.

Also, there's a line from Drunk Alistair that implies that Isabela slept with him. Possibly again, depending on DA:O.

I wonder if it's possible to create a community patch of sorts for Awakening that lets OC approval ratings get imported...

Oh god... am I sad enough to go back, reload my saved game without the DLC's and start all over again.

Yes... yes I think I am.

Anyways... have to go back and romance Fenris properly anyway. Stubborn bastard! :P I just have to keep my Hawke from taking a walk down **** town. No sampling other companions for her.

There's a fan mod that changes it to look for the presence of certain flags (such as romance completed, made love, etc.), rather than approval ratings to determine whether a DA:O character was romanced. Unfortunately, as I said earlier, there's more than one bug affecting the imports... that's why Zevran seems to keep thinking the Warden is dead, even if the Warden survived. There's actually entries in the talk table for these, so we know the voice over has been recorded and everything. It's just... broken.

My DA:O > DA2 import was bugged. Alistair gave both lines at the same time :(

Right, I'm using that mod, in fact. What I mean, though, is that if the game is looking at approval (mod nonwithstanding), then a patch for DAII isn't going to solve the issue. The issue lies in Awakening's import feature, and that's where it would need to be fixed.

Maybe someone should post in the Toolset forum to see if anyone thinks they can take a crack at having Awakening not toss aside 95% of the imported data.

Not me, because I'm daed-tired, and I just finished my rogue playthrough which was an ordeal. I hate rogues. I want to go to bed, and dream of warriors, mages, and Merrills.

Alistair is so sweet. That's why he's still my favorite LI.

Though the mistress lines crack me up.

I never heard the mistress line in da2 Or any other than the the hero has a name line, I was a lot put off. DAA recorded my warden and AListair disappearring together myseteriously etc. I mean, yet nothing However I killed the architect in DAA and it also records that as its alive. I dont know whats the issue with that, I went back and replayed and saved to make sure architect died but still records it as alive in da2

He said the same thing about my romanced Warden, an 'old friend'. I didn't mind so much, seeing as they presumably weren't on the same mission together, so they may not have seen each other for a while.

I was overjoyed to see him because that was the playthrough where I sent Bethany to be miserable and homesick in the Wardens. But I know that if she's with Alistair, he'll cheer her right up with his silly humour, just as he did for my Dalish Warden.

All the LI cameos are bugged.  I started a thread about it here.  I started out just talking about Zevran, but since they're all bugged, I changed the topic.  I am hoping it gets fixed with the patch.

Edit: *grin* Dare I say at least he's not getting into Isabela/Hawke's pants ;)  Zevran's cameo was disappointing on SO many levels, though it was good to have a bit of his humor in act 3 at the very least!

When he offered Isabela/Hawke sex, I had a 'WTF, aren't you with the Warden anymore?' moment. I was relieved that it is a bug.
