I'm at a loss on where I should post this but I guess this side of the forums is the right place.

I'm currently having problems with the EA Download Manager crashing and showing errors.  I recently got and registered my free Mass Effect 2 from the Bioware Sequel Celebration promo but I can't download my copy of Mass Effect 2 because the EADM keeps on getting errors I am unable to fix. :crying:

Everytime I try to login my account, EADM suddenly shows this: http://img815.images...984/error1o.jpg

Now of course I already have games registered but it still shows this error.  In addition to this, it always says "The game installer cache directory is invalid.  Please select a different directory."  Now I keep on trying to change the directory but EADM does not save the settings and instead pops this up no matter what I do: http://img834.images...263/error2o.jpg

Could somebody please help?

From the EADM, in the upper right hand corner, where it says "Welcome, (Your Name)" - there's a button next to it. Click it - then do REDEEM CODE - and use the code you get after you register the promo.

I downloaded it and it doesn't launch from the downloader program. It looks like it downloaded a zip file but manually opening that up and running the launcher gives a 'missing Awc.dll' error. Anyone actually been able to play this free version of ME2?

Yes, I was able to download and play the copy from this promotion -- although only with some difficulty.

I also had the problem complained about in the OP (shows "No games detected") -- in my case, since I had purchased and installed DA2 via EA and the EADM program, it was particularly worrisome. Note that I went through the "Redeem Code" process even though my copy of DA2 wasn't showing (which probably wasn't wise, but it all turned out OK).

After starting / restarting several times (and once, when prompted, I upgraded EADM -- no change in the problem), I finally clicked on the "Log Out" button (under the wrench tool bar button). Once I was logged out, the first several attempts to log back in failed with a message along the lines "There was a problem logging you in, please try again later". So I did, and eventually I was able to log in, and once I logged in both DA2 and ME2 appeared in my list of games and all was good.

So... I suspect that if you have "Automatically log me in" and there is a problem with the login, the EADM program doesn't display the error message and makes it /appear/ as if you are logged in -- but you really aren't, at least not all the way. Thus, you can't see your games or download your games.

tl;dr: Try manually logging out (using the option in the EADM application for this purpose -- don't just close / relaunch EADM) and logging back in. It may fix your problem.

So I've been having a problem similar to the OP's. I log in to EADM, and Mass Effect 2 shows up, ready to download. I click it and it starts preparing to download for a few seconds, then the installer cache directory error message pops up and the download stops, and it says no games detected. If I click anywhere else, the error message pops up a dozen more times.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and the same thing happens. Logging in and logging out also doesn't work. I brought up the task manager and watched it the "processes" section while trying to download ME2, and the EA core server vanishes right before the problem starts. Idk whats going on.

Many of us are currently in this boat.  Few have found help by trying the many fixes suggested in the threads in here.  The rest of us keep toying/waiting till we find our answer...

I'm also trying to download mass effect 2.
I did manage to start downloading the first time, after deleting the cache folder.

You might try this:
1) log out and exit EDMA. make sure the application is not running in the background.
2) If exists, delete this folder:
C:\\Users\\[Your user]\\Documents\\BioWare\\Mass Effect 2
I've had this folder already before installing ME2, probably leftovers from the demo.

I did manage to download 27% of the game, but then my PC went idle, and went to sleep mode, which stopped my d/l.
When I try to resume, no matter what I do I'm getting the infamous "the game installer cache directory is invalid. Please select a different directory ."

Anyone?

Downloaded ME2 with EADM but when I try to install any of the ME2 DLC exe files it says "Mass Effect 2 does not appear to be installed. Please install the game and try again".

Howdy y'all, I'm having the same problems with the awc.dll. I've tried the fixes found here:
http://social.biowar.../index/778021/2
but none of them worked. Have Bioware/EA acknowledged the problem or said they're working on a patch or something?

I had that error for awc.dll, but the fix worked for the EAAccessinstaller.exe thing.
