Because if you have Flemeth follows Chaotic Neutral pretty darned closely. Looking around at all the posts everyone seems to think she is either very good or very evil. Maybe she is simply very neutral and randomly chooses who she will help based on how she feels at the time? Sure she says some things with a lot of insight but don't a lot of characters have insight?
Just because she saved the Warden doesn't mean she saved Hawke because she's building some super hero army in the mirror. The way I see it, she knew Morrigan was going to send the Warden after her and what better way to ensure your survival than to give someone an amulet with a piece of your soul in it and have them take it somewhere to resurrect you? That definitely falls into the "out for herself" category. I mean, seriously, if I just watched someone slash their way through darkspawn like that and they weren't a Warden, I'd ask them to do the same thing. Well, if I had the ability to put parts of my soul in objects anyway.

She does say bodies don't matter - thats why I argue against people that say shes a ancient dragon - not only does she create a body from magic and a piece of soul, she doesn't seem concerned if they killed her other one or not - this was just insurence. Sounds like shes much higher up the food chain.
