I get it, it's hard being a mage with the tempations of demons and all, that is the structure of the universe, but in da2 every other mage hit the demon form button. Really?
There needs to be some sort of advanced mage defense and tactics against such temptations. Incidentally, looking at stats, to get the most out of being a blood mage, you stack CON not Wisdom... makes sense, merill was an idiot, and the least wise mage I have ever seen in a while. So was Edwin Odeiseron.
I think the tower in Kirkwall just produced crap mages. The mages in fereldon seemed more.. stable by and large.
DA3 needs more strong willed mages

Wait... what? Did you just say Edwin is an idiot? BLASPHEMY!!! The whole Edwina thing was on purpose.
And what do you expect from Kirkwall's Circle? Look what their blasted leader did in the final moments to "help". (I liked DA2, but it wasn't without stupid moments, and that ranked right up there with Riordan throwing himself off a high building to SOLO the freakin' high dragon instead of waiting for the ARMY I mustered.)

Lol. I don't really understand where you're coming from with this thread.
The impression that every other Mage is a blood mage is just that: a perception. The rate of exposure to blood magic increases as the game goes on; however, there are well explained reasons for this (given by the Senior Enchanter). In addition, even amongst the Circle Magi there are several instances of Magi that both resist and are repelled by the idea of blood magic. Many of the 'normal' Magi can be heard pronouncing the Maker or Andraste's name in shock of discovering blood magic amongst their circle.
As for Riordan. That's my favourite moment of DA: O. Insane and inspirational.

I mispoke, I meant to convey that Edwin had VERY little wisdom (his wisdom stat was laughably low), and in game he did not always make the wisest decisions (Edwina)

Edwina was the result of a botched Intelligence check, and the DM didn't offer him the chance to make a WIS check to see if he realised he'd mistranslated it.
Either that or he DM'ed it.
It was aggroing Elminster that really got Edwin in trouble.
Anyway, the reasons for the blood mage deluge in Kirkwall were many, but partly to blame are the recycling of sprites and limited number of enemy characters.
