The hundreds of hours I have spent in developing a NWN2 module PW in which my students can interact seems ready to be scuttled by technical LAN issues at my school. The tech support guys are great and we are working on a solution, which I'm pretty sure is LAN related rather than NWN2 related.
My question is whether the server is best on a LAN or the DMC.
The situation: 10 students on laptops connecting over a LAN to my laptop, which is acting as the server. The required staged files are being installed to each student's personal drive (using the autodownloader has been a failure due to speed). The LAN has plenty of bandwidth and runs wireless networking well - normally. Something is slowing the file transfer down and investigations continue.
Today I had 2 students able to connect and run the PW reasonably well, so there has been some progress. If anyone has any tips of things to look out for (I know my description of the LAN architecture is scant but I am not privy to all the specs of it) I would appreciate it. I have gone through the tips for module design and server configs for the autodownloader.
Cheers

There might be something on the network throttling transmissions, but a laptop does not generally make for a good server. That could be a large part of your problem. At a minimum, make sure you aren't running anything else (clear out your system tray) while you run NWN2 server, especially not the game itself.

Also need to know the specs of the system you're using to host.
Could be it's not up to the task of hosting the server and running the DMC at the same time.
