No, they're using the predicate-substitution operator to show the argument is invalid.  But that takes logic to see.

This.

I could make the arguement valid, because just because I'm used to seeing straight romance doesn't mean I like or want to. You know how people complain about having gay romance "shoved in [their] face!"? How do you think I feel walking around and seeing almost every single romance in many a media be between men and women? But I don't make the arguement, because hey, I'm tolerant and I want other people to have their say.

Besides, I like characters and if they swing the opposite way to me then fine, that's what they do. I don't want them excluded just because I'd rather not take part in it myself, they're characters, and every trait makes them interesting to me. *shrug*

It depends where you are from. Came across some documentry on BBC last night about Uganda introducing the death penalty for being gay. I don't really care what people get upto in private, but I fully understand people not wanting it forced on them in their entertainment mediums for whatever reasons (social, political, religious, personal).

Just in case anyone thinks I was making up the Uganda thing.

How do you come up with "forced?" No one has to buy the game. It hasn't been forced upon anyone. The OP is clearly a long-time Bioware gamer, so he knew sexuality would be involved at some point. It's not the Uganda thing you are making up. It is the idea that anyone is coerced into a sexual relationship in a video game that you are fabricating.

Anders is openly gay. Even if you shut him down right away he hits on you. You then have to take him as part of the story.

Putting yourself in someone elses shoes works both ways.

While it's true no one is forced to buy the game, no where on the warning labels does it say "game contains openly gay character".

Call me a homophobe I care not. Its disgusting, you ruined Anders, and DA2 in the process. Let me guess SW:TOR is going to be full of gay on gay wookies and ewok. As a straight person this is a disturbing and a disgusting. You lost alot of "core" fans with this. Im sure you gained some special intrest groups though. Im done, goodbye.

I kinda agree with you. Why is Bioware pandering to 1% of the population? I recall 2 or 3 romance lines for Merril and 1 for Isabela. But nearly every Anders or Fenris convo had a romance option, sometimes it was either be mean or be gay. I found it disgusting not that they included gay crap, but that they gave the finger to heterosexuals. I thought they wanted a bigger market share?

All this pro-gay rhetoric is kinda like alot of atheists and science, I blindly believe in whatever scientist say so that makes me smart! Derp! I'm pro-gay so that  makes me open-minded, progressive and a good person. Look at me! I'm so tolerant of others... unless they disagree with the things I'm tolerant off.... then I get very untolerantly tolerant.

Hmm, it must be different then if you play mHawke. FemHawke only had to turn him down once, and it was done. The little rivalry shift meant nothing, because even so she (and I) tried for rivalry, he went down the friendship path fairly quickly.

Aside from that, there still was no inappropriate groping or grabbing being done anywhere in DA 2. Even though Hawke might not have minded it so much had it come from Fenris. Bad girl, bad, bad, bad.

I'm not a fan either. I prefer the JE method where it's there but it's something you have to go looking for. That way no one who came across gay romance in JE can claim to be shocked.

Yes, so what? It's a perfectly valid argument, and one that highlights the problem of the "no-homosexuality button".

Should we dance around the issue, by not giving strong and valid arguments and examples, because doing so would be a dick move?

If he had argued for a character customization that tells the world something, for example his stance and posture does not make for easy conversation, or flirting at all, or one that screams lesbian or flamboyantly gay, or bear man gay etc. & the world would adopt it self in part to this, making it an effective "I'm straight", or "I'm homosexual", or "I'm Zevran and I'll go down on your shoe if it smells good enough", or simply "I'm not interested in any advances" ~
well then at least its a valid discussion, but if he argues for a no-homosexual filter, then he should be prepared to hear the simple argument that a no-heterosexual filter is just as valid for reasons I mentioned in my last post.

Not liking this argument is a dick move, because its saying that my offence to you is more valid then your offence to me, only because you should be used to it by now.

It does have a "sex warning" on the back. And since hetrosexuality is the norm, that is implied by the label.

1) Statistics of the amount of gay or bisexual people in a population are bound to be inaccurate because not everyone is willing to come out

2) Females get a bunch of lines for hitting on males as far as I can see, so no, they aren't giving the finger to heterosexuals

3) "Gay crap"? LOL

4) It's hard to feel sorry for people who are disgusted by what other people do in their own bedrooms

How? You can still chose to only romance women as a DudeHawke.

I could **** about being severely creeped out by Jacob because every coversation with him (short of being a total dick towards him) made my FemShep sound like a desperate, horny stalker.

But I stopped talking to him to avoid the discomfort. See how easy that is? :wizard:

I can confirm Anders doesn't hit on you if you are playing male Hawke (As I hate Anders I only talk about his quests afterwards tho'). I think Fenris has that bug, after you say him back off during his first convo another flirt option later appears and instead of normal left side it is in place of diplomatic option.

Oh the horror, you have to work with a gay guy? I guess you hated Leliana in DA:O as well.

I bet you had the same problem with Jade Empire, KotoR, ME1 & ME2, or is it just homosexual men that should be warned against?

Err, not to speak for everyone else but I'm actually replying to this because I can't stay silent if I see something homophobic because I believe it is an inaccurate way to view the world. I would hope that the others here are replying in terms of their beliefs, not because they want to pick on the OP.

My copy had a warning sexual content label. As I said above as hetrosexuality is the norm, you don't need a specific label for it.
