Some of us have been playing video games since we were tots and I thought it'd be interesting to see what people's first video games were. I decided to add memorable into the question because I'm sure there are some games that aren't even worth mentioning. For instance, I don't really want to nominate Animal, Vegetable, Mineral as my first memorable game. >.>

For me, my first memorable game would be The Fourth Protocol on the Amstrad CPC.

It introduced me to adventure games, which I've had a passion for ever since. It was fairly difficult as well, if I remember correctly, but it was still a great example of a text/point-and-click adventure. :3

Edited: Switched the link for an image since the link didn't appear to be working.

A game called Phantom Slayer, many, many years ago. It was an ancient 8-bit game for one of the pre IBM PC micros and was a real milestone for me as it was the first FPS I'd played. I may have subsequently moved on from shooters but it set the scene for the sort of user interface I'd always prefer.

I'm old enough to remember when Pong was released...as silly and simple as it seems now there is no way to describe the impact it had, so that was memorable for me.
Personally Baldur's Gate had a great impact on me...I realized that there were Computer games for D&D fans like me and that the Medium was more than just shooting games.
I should mentiuon that I didn't get my first Computer until 2001...so I was unaware of all the Titles that were out there.

Traps 'n treasures on the Amiga. Loved that game to death, a very hard but fun puzzle game.

It was.  The computer I played Phantom Slayer on had 32KB, and a 900 KHz CPU...

The graphical style is very familiar but I can't place it. What is it? :P

Outnumbered, it was on the floppy disks that were actually floppy. :P Sort of an education adventure game back in the day. It was highly memorable... I'll provide a link in a moment.

Details, and a download can be found here. It included math problems and random trivia.

Pac-Man. I miss playing Google Pac-Man. :( That is the earliest memorable game I can recall. It may not be my first. I was exposed to several arcade games around the same time period. It is all a bit fuzzy.

I might check that out. ^_^

Speaking of floppies, I remember when the Amstrad switched over to them. Before then it was cassettes. The load time for the Robocop game in particular was excruciatingly slow. I could walk away for half an hour and it still not be done. Then, half way through the game, you'd have to flip the cassette over. And it would always freeze. Never did complete that game because of it. *shakes fist*

Do board games count? If they do, then I would have to say 'Ticket To Ride'. I hold pretty good memories of the times I used to play it with my friends... Times long gone. :)

But if we're only speaking about video-games, then I'll have to stay with 'Heavy Rain'.

First video game was Pong.

First memorable game was Arena; the Elder Scrolls. All games before that paled in comparison.

My first memorable game? That would have to be Mega Lo Mania.

For several reasons. One, it was the first game I bought completely by myself, meaning my own "hard earned" money ;-) Two, because out of my parents, grandparents and friends, I was the only one who understand how it worked. ^^ Three, I played...play actually, the **** out of that game. Honestly, I still have my SNES connected to my TV because of MLM...I still think it's an awesome game. Oh and four, because that game's largely responsible for my love for strategy games which is, along with RPG, my favourite genre.

Well, there you go. :-)

There aren't many games out there with alien overlords dressed as Elvis.
