And Pong and Crystal Castles (with that cute little bear!) on Atari.

The first "Memorable" game I played was Halo, that was incredible. No game has ever gotten me actually excited about the storyline apart from Mass Effect and Uncharted 2 though
I'm going to have to introduce you to some older games, if you can ignore the dated graphics.
Sounds good
When I was a kid, some of my favourite games were Crash Bandicoot and Rayman. Heck! they still are! I have them on my ps3 and psp

Oh, shush you.
I'm trying to think of recommendations for earlier games. What style of game is your favourite? I see those PSOne games you liked are platformers but you like Halo, which is an FPS and Mass Effect, which is an action-RPG, so let's narrow it down a bit.

Ahem anyway Hugo's House of Horrors was the first game I found really memorable. Oh and Dr Mario still some of the most fun 2p memories I have from being a little sprog *nostalgic sigh*
@Jigsaw - Have you tried Jade Empire?

You know, that's funny, I thought the same thing. >.>
Streets of Rage on the Megadrive was one of my fondest memories of two player gaming with my sister. We'd be in stitches with it.

Also Commander Keen was another very memorable one and Super Mario Bros 2.

Streets of Rage was an awesome side scrolling beat em up from Sega. I've been playing Streets of Rage 2 on xbox live recently and finding it harder than I recall. It holds up well today though. I loved the Streets of Rage games.

Cool beans must check that one out, is there a demo for it or will I have to spring for the full version?

You can download the trial version for free, I think the full version is around 400 points. I wish they would release Streets of Rage 3 aswell.

And the first memorable game - KotOR, on a classmate's PC. Though that had only gotten me interested because there was a lightsabre fight right at the beginning, and my friend told me I would get to play as a Jedi later in the game. It was a Star Wars game and I highly expected I would play as a "lightsabre wielder", the fact that you started as a simple soldier nearly put me off completely. I learned what a masterpiece it truly was only when I finally got it on my own computer.
That thing blew my mind at the time. It took me quite some time to actually 'get' what the game was about and how it worked. I had never played a game that would make me think, consider my actions and stuff like that; up to that point the games I played were arcade crap (think Pinball, mindless FPS's, Starcraft with power overwhelming and the gathering), not that my Pentium I with a Voodoo 2 (that's the one with 4MB, isn't it?) could handle anything more. I remember Armored Fist used to give me trouble at times. This was from 2000 to 2003, until I finally upgraded.
I think I only played KotOR 2 more and for longer. Even so, no other game since KotOR 1 has truly enthralled me to that extent. Of course, I was also an avid Star Wars and Star Trek fan and any game built around those universes appealed to me, but not without lightsabres and Starships.
Ah... bitter-sweet melancholy...

I played my fair share of Super Marios and Donkey Kongs but KOTOR is what made me a gamer. It was my introduction into RPG's and the story had me at the edge of my seat. I remember going "OH SH*T!" when I found out who Revan really was. Good times.

One of the first memorable ones would have to be Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles for the PS1. First game I actually spent hours and hours playing.
