Which weapon set do you prefer to use (two blades or bow) and why?
Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?
Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword (from either game)?
Which is your favourite power/ability?
What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally? (in DA2 I seem to have a liking for my rogue to be flanked by 3 mages, lol)

No real reason why I'm asking this, just starting a conversation. ^_^

P.S.: Rogue love. :bandit:

Well as a Duelist I prefer Rapier and Dagger. But since I can't do that option I'm forced to use two daggers this time around. Near the End of the game I was using Finesse and one of the Carta blades.

Favorite power would be the Parry sustained combined with Throw the Gauntlet. My duelist was extremely high cunning and I loved having a maxxed defense score vs. all targets. Vendetta was my 'awesome button.'

As for my team, what could be better than...more rogues? My team of Swashbuckling Musketeers wouldn't be complete without Varric and Isabela at my side near constantly. Those two dealt with the crowds of flunkies while I dealt with the bosses. The fourth slot rotated by mood.

It usually was not Sebastian, which would have been rogue overkill. The rarer times I did bring him, (based on plot) he got Varric's slot.

1. The Carta's, since I can just keep them on. I then use the cash for accessories and the Stealth Boots. If I'd have enough cash, I'd also go for the two spirit daggers. I sometimes use the bow from the High Dragon in Act 3. I love its power, but it's not the kind of gameplay I like.

2. Assassinate/Vendetta.

3. (A) two mages for stagger CCCs and a warrior. (B) Izzy setup with her tree and disorient + warrior + mage.

1- Dual-Wield, I'd rather watch paint dry than play an Archer in almost any game, except Gauntlet Legends.

2 - DW all the way, baby. Who uses bows? People who are not basalit-an.

3 - For aesthetics, probably The Maker's Kiss, Coterie Shiv, or Finesse. For wrecking shop, Maker's Kiss in DA2, and The Rose's Thorn in DA:O

4 - Assassinate and Vendetta, I absolutely love these skills. Even the names are awesome!

5 - My favorite team is Merril - Aveline - Anders. All work very well together, and compliment my Assassin Hawke very nicely.

I prefer dual-wielding. Partially just because I think it's cool (I played a DW Warrior in DA:O partially for that reason) and partially because I like to jump into the fray rather than attack from a distance. (I'm doing a mage playthrough now and it's been a challenge to retrain myself NOT to rush at the enemies. ^^; ) I don't have particular weapons I get attached to--whatever I find that's got good stats is good for me.

My favorite ability for the DW rogue in DA2 ended up being Twin Fang. This is probably simple-minded of me, but...again, it looked cool. I liked to finish enemies off with this move, particularly if they were the last one left of the group, It just felt like a "finishing move" to me.

I like to mix up what characters I bring with me since I love them all and want to hear their opinions on things, but I did end up settling on a "main" party for battles that I knew would be difficult or plot-important. It ended up being Varric, Anders and Fenris. Varric was just because I decided early on that I wanted him in my party as much as possible (since he's my favorite character in the game). Anders was partially because I was romancing him, and partially because I wanted a healer. I thought I probably needed a warrior of some sort to fill out the party--I'm not sure why it ended up being Fenris over Aveline. I think I liked that his range was larger than my rogue's? It ended up working out pretty well, having Fenris saved my ass on more than one occasion. (There was one battle where I would've lost it if he hadn't had really good health regen with the accessories I gave him. He manged to survive fighting two tough enemies on his own after the rest of my party was downed.)

I should note that I'm still working on fully understanding the strategy of the game, so I wouldn't recommend following my tactics just because I did them. I don't know if my party was the best I could've done, but it ended up working out fine for me in the end.

Dual wield for the most part, though archery is extremely powerful on Nightmare. At the end of the day, it's more of a personal choice.

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?

Well depends on spec really. If you go DW there is little reason to switch to a bow, except hard hitting AoE bosses, so from that PoV, yes it is useful to keep a bow around, just in case you need it.

Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword (from either game)?

Well from DA2, the highest DPS daggers are the Low Blade and Finesse, so I wouldn't really change them, except for bosses that are immune to nature damage on NM (since they are both nature based). Shadow's Claw, Maker's kiss is always handy to keep around plus Carta's Left Hand if you are worried about knockback 'locks'. Rose's Thorn from DA1.

Which is your favourite power/ability?

Assassinate, hands down. Nothing comes even remotely close, damage wise. Contrary to popular belief I'm not much of a fan of Vendetta, mostly because you have to invest heavily on a specialization that focuses more on survivability (which quickly becomes irrelevant). Mark of death is also a nice skill and I'd say I've enjoyed backstab even, mostly because it gives you the ability to instantly teleport behind a target.

What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally? (in DA2 I seem to have a liking for my rogue to be flanked by 3 mages, lol)

Depends on the situation really. In most 'generic' cases, I won't really detract from the triad setup meaning, I'll almost always have a tank and a mage, the last spot would also go to a ranged combatant (usually another mage, given the choice).

1. Iv'e always preferred Dual weapons simply because its faster and in my opinion more satisying.
2. I always use Dual wield because i find archery boring.
3. My favourite in the first was voice of velvet dagger in awakening in DA 2 i have not made up my mind yet.
4. Assassinate is my favourite by far because of the damage output but i like pinpoint strike as well (nothing can go wrong with auto crits for a short time).
5. Warrior, mage and a range rogue.

1. Dual-wielding, because it has a higher DPS and is pretty damn awesome for one-hit-killing those pesky mages and archers.
2. My rogue has no talent points in archery, but uses a bow occasionally during boss battles. Mostly as a way to do a bit of damage while the good stuff recharges.
3. The Bassrath-Kata dagger. There are two or three that are better in terms of stats, but its story makes it a favourite.
4. Assassinate, definitely.
5. A tank, a mage for AOE and healing, and someone who's pure DPS

1. I prefer dual blades. I tried to play with bow but found it incredibly boring.
2. I stick to dual blades. Only time I use bow is for rock wraith.
3. I don't really know their names, I just know the sound they make when they end a mans life...
4. Assassinate
5. Seems I run with Avaline tanking and running bodyguard, Sebastian doing damage and running goad, and Anders running heals, haste and petrify (for assasinate).

My weapon of choice is two daggers

I always stick with dual wielding. If I want an archer in the party I'll bring one along

I'm just looking for something with the most damage output.

Favourite Ability is Twin Fangs - Probably my fav in the game actually as it can be secured so early in the playthrough

My team when I'm playing as a Rogue would be. Rogue Hawke, Aveline as a tank, Merril or Varric as an additional damage dealer and Bethany as my Mage

Bow in the early game because it's easier not to die constantly.  Later on with more survivability and Vendetta taking you into melee range anyway I was mostly dual wielding

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?

Even towards the end of the game I tend to switch to bows for the boss fights  - I find it's easiest if you keep everyone except the tank safely out of melee range for those.

Which is your favourite power/ability?

Assassinate.  For obvious reasons.

Aveline with upgraded Battle Synergy, Anders/Bethany with Haste and Heroic Aura and then the final slot can be filled usefully by anyone depending on the mission.

1. dual daggers
2. i only use dual daggers
3. finesse with Carta's left hand (i use finesse for the +10% crit plus it has that rune slot i use for a speed rune and i use carta's left hand basically because its strong and you get immunity to knockback)
4. Assassinate.
5. Aveline, Merrill and Varric. it would have been Bethany instead of Merrill if i could use her through the whole game

Some of the dagger attacks are more fun, but I use both in almost every battle.

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?
Frequently switch back and forth.

Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword (from either game)?
So far (only made it up to beginning of Act 3), Coterie Shiv is the dagger that looks the coolest.

Which is your favourite power/ability?
EX---TER----MINAAATE!...erm, I mean Assassinate

What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally?
Merril - Blood magic + offensive Primal and Elemental CCC spells + Hex of Torment
Anders - Vengeance + Wrath + offensive Primal and Elemental CCC spells
Fenris - upgraded Lyrium Ghost + Veneer of Calm + Battle Tempo + Sunder + Giant's Reach + Cleave/Claymore + 2H talents

1. Two blades or bow? Dual wielding is way more fun and satisfying.  Archery is kind of boring but before level 7 or so, it actually is more fun and more effective since whenever you hit a mook, they go flying back which is rather amusing and you don't die as often :P

2. Switch weapons?  Rarely once I get assassinate.

3. Favorite dagger?  Coterie Shiv - buy it at the beginning of act 2 and use it until you get the Low Blade.

4. Favorite ability?  I'd be lying if I didn't say assassinate :).  Explosive strike Vs. a staggered is alos damn nice.

5. Favorite team?  Merrill always.  Everyone else has their uses; except perhaps Sebastian.

I have played both Archer and Dual Wield Rogue. Either or is fine with me. The best thing to do, of course, is to specialize.

With Archery you can ignore the dual wield tree, and concentrate on bows and Assassination tree. There is not much more effectiveness than being able to assassinate that Coterie Assassin before he's even in range.

With Dual Wield, just forget the bow tree, but I must admit that the shadow tree is quite effective, epecially with Decoy active.

I never switch weapons once I've decided on a path. Favorite Dagger is Finesse. Favorite Bow is the one from the High Dragon (forget it's name. 134 damage though).

Favorite Ability (For Archery: Assassinate, For Dual Wield: Combo Backstab/Twin Fang, or Backstab/Assassinate.)

Favorite Team Members with Rogue (Either path): Fenris, Anders, and Aveline.

Archer is easier to play, but I prefer dual wield.

Just stick with dual wield. There's a couple boss battles (high dragon in particular) where bows are massively superior, but I didn't bother

Favorite dagger: I forget. The one with spirit in act 3 I used till the end of the game.

Favorite ability? Probably assassinate, or maybe Vendetta. Used either of them as combos to take out mages or enemy assassins fast.

Favorite team members: Varies by time in the game. Act 2: Fenris, merrill, Anders, me. Act 3, Aveline, Merrill, me and Isabella (once I could get her the dagger that stopped knockback, so I didn't have to micro-manage her). In Act 3 I found that Fenris wasn't tough enough against some mobs, he kept getting chain stunned and killed, and by then Aveline's damage and whatnot was high enough to hold threat.

Which weapon set do you prefer to use (two blades or bow) and why?

Dual-wielding, because I always play primarily dual-wielding rogues in RPGs. They're just what I find fun. Though I do end up controlling Seb a lot in combat, and it made me want to roll my own archer.

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?

I stick to dual-wielding for the most part.

Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword (from either game)?

Eh, I've only played one rogue so far in DA2 and don't remember any of the dagger names, though Voice of Velvet was probably my favourite from Awakenings.

Which is your favourite power/ability?

Twin Fangs from DA2 and Flurry from DAO.

What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally?

Primarily Fenris, Sebastian and Anders, though I switch between Seb and Varric a lot.

- Dual weapon.  I tried archer once in DA:O and never made it past level 13.  It just wasn't my bag.  However, I'm sorely tempted to try an archer in DA2.  Taking control of Sebastian is pretty fun.  (/eyebrow waggle)

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?

- I stick with a spec for better or worse, usually.  I like to see what works together and what doesn't.  My first mage build was something pretty crazy.

Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword (from either game)?

- My city elf (who's my canon Warden) used Rose's Thorn and Duncan's dagger then switched up to Voice of Velvet, which I think looks pretty sweet.  In DA2, I ended with Finesse and one of the Carta Hands.  Alas, no matter how much coin or drink I threw at Varric he wouldn't let me touch Bianca.

Which is your favourite power/ability?

- Liked Twin Fangs and Assassinate.  I also liked the Sabotage tree very much.

What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally?

- I usually run Fenris as my tank and have either Varric or Sebastian for ranged DPS.  My rogue run was the run I tried doing without a healer, switching between normal and hard, just to see if it was doable so I rarely used Anders.  I ended up using Merril more in my rogue run than my mage or warrior runs.

Dual wielding daggers. For role playing reasons.

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?

I never switch.

Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword ?

Elven Daggers. I like the look, and I can have a pair. Coterie Shiv is a nice one, just nothing to combine it with, aesthetically wise.

Which is your favourite power/ability?

Backstab and Twin Fangs.

What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally?

Rogue 2nd (Isabela), Mage (Anders), Archer (Varric). I generally disregard the tank whenever possible.

Which weapon set do you prefer to use (two blades or bow) and why?
Dual wielding daggers. I love archery too but I have always loved to play with dual wield weapons and in D&D I always take the two weapons feats as soon as I can. There's just something special about fighting with two weapons. I usually go for two rapiers or one rapier and dagger/short sword but I can't do that in DA.

Do you switch between the two much or do you stick with the one you like best?
I don't switch. It seems like a waste to pick talents for both of them.

Which is your favourite bow/dagger/sword ?
Coterie Shiv is nice, but like Song said there's nothing to match it with. I also like Finess very much.

Which is your favorite power/ability?
Backstab and Twin Fangs! Without a doubt. I love them.

What sort of team do you build around your rogue generally?
I like taking more rogues with me so often my party was Isabela, Varric and Anders due to him being the only mage with healing. But I like to have Fenris in the party too so I switch between Isabela, Varric and Fenris for the most part.

I'll tell you all my answers when my brain isn't squishy BUT: bows are taking a beating in this thread!
I think I prefer them but that might be because I'm a poncey fook.

I do really like the implementation of a melee attack during bow use, you know, without the having to switch weapons. Stops you getting completely raped should an enemy decide to try to steal your kidneys.

After Act 1 Archery gets stale and both Varric and Sebastian will always be better Archers than you'll ever be. Archery talents are also way too slow to fire and as you find ways to increase your attack speed you're always better off using basic attacks except for the occasional use of Assassinate and Hail of Arrows (if NOT on nightmare).

This pretty much nails my style as a rogue perfectly, except my favorite rogue talent is Assassinate.  Nothing like shanking an Elite from across the room and having them go down like a sack of potatoes!

I tend to mix up my parties, too, but my main party is the same: Fenris, Varric, and Anders. Fenris because he's an awesome fighter, Varric because he's just too cool to leave behind, and Anders for his healing.  I romanced Fenris on both my rogue playthroughs, though.
