Even before release, I told Mike Laidlaw that the star ratings would be useless unless they showed us the formula used to generate them. He disagreed.
I was right.

Would it really kill them to release the formula? Or the source for the other scripts?
I generally dislike how much seems to be hidden this time around. no script source files, no toolset, I can't say that I understand why they would make a game so moddable, and then hide all the details and not release the tools to do the modding. Mike Laidlaw said himself that the tools they used to create stuff was a modified version of the DA:O toolset..... well... why not release it then?
(TBH, my guess is they incorporated third party tools they don't have permission to distribute)
Yep. Inventory management is so much easier in this game._Loc_N_lol_ wrote...

In DA2 apparently the star rating next to an item tells you how good an item is if you are too simple to work this out for yourself, however I find myself looking at three belts that give 3% Physical Damage, one has three stars, one two stars and the last no stars, surely they are all the same?.
Does this apply to any other items and does this system actually work?.
The system doesn't work so well with items that do not have a "base value" (armor, damage) that scales (belts, rings, amulets)
