Great, now I DON'T want to have happy ending in ME3.
So, who would prefer a happy ending to ME3?

I would like to see my Space Hamster rise to godhood. Nothing else will do.
How would this go?
Harbinger: ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL OF THIS SPACE HAMS---
Space Hamster: YOU FOOL. YOU HAVE AWAKENED SOMETHING FAR MORE TERRIBLE THAN YOUR PUNY MIND CAN COMPREHEND.
Harbinger: OH SHI----

I'd actually prefer endings that makes you emotionally unstable and you just want to cut yourself ..just saying.
This would explain your avatar.

MAKE THOSE CHOICES REALLY MATTER. You don't have to worry about keeping it all together for the next one. Make it so if you saved the Rachni you are f*cked. The reapers know their "songs" and how to abuse them. Make it so happy rainbow time is impossible if you saved the Rachni queen. Make it so pushing Garrus to be a hard-ass causes him to pull the sniper shot off on the Turian councilor when needed. Otherwise he wusses out and you're hosed. Things that you can't just quickload and do another way. You've already picked your renegade and paragon options via your import. Get crazy with it.

If I wanted an ending like that, I'd be playing Fallout non-stop.
But I want everyone alive, all species still here, and all Reapers destroyed at the end of ME3.
That's what I'm going for. I kind of expect 4 or 5 billion people on Earth to get Reaper gooed before it's over with, but that leaves around 7 billion. Humanity gets roughed up something fierce in that scenario, but survives as a species and is enough of a galactic power that they don't get rolled over by pirates and raiders after the reapers are dead.
This is exactly where I see it going (hopefully). The Coucil races and the galaxy at large sees the sacrifices Earth has made and allow/accept us into their "inner circle." Kind of like the end of ME1, but on a much grander scale.
And lollipops, too, mother****er...

I'd rather a bittersweet ending - the galaxy is saved, but at great cost. Perhaps Shep and the team die, or galactic civilisation basically collapses.
I'm not OK with that, personally. If civilization collapses, you didn't really win. If Shepard dies, you didn't really win.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of variants of the ending, and eventually it'll boil down to a Paragon/Renegade choice IF you meet the requirements to do so, but I really want to see a Reapers lose decisively and the heroes to do the classic heroic pose in the wind as the final shot, at least for the ultra-Paragon ending. (Then after the credits, Shepard can throw airquotes at the Turian councilor while standing on Harbinger's burning corpse.)
The trick is how to get there, and I hope the story leading up to it will be good and full of both choices and callbacks to the previous two games, but I want the possibility of a perfect ending where the galaxy is saved and we get to be the Hero with a capital H.

Happy ending and Shepard dead are mutually exclusive.

With that said, I do not think there is going to an ultra happy and everyong lived happily ever after ending.

As mentioned, given the fact that BioWare has stated they'd like to expand the ME Universe, this could cause problems. On the other hand, in Mass Effect: Retribution, the writers picked a canon storyline to use, so it is possible they may simply take that option for future ME products.
I want a lot, and I probably won't get it all. Still, ME is about choices, and I want to see consequences to those choices. The developers have said they want to have wildly diverging paths in the third game, so I'm looking forward to experiencing them.
