I just want one ending where you can be with you LI. if i can have that I will be happy

life isnt always rainbows and butterflies... neither is defeating the reapers

The option should be there. Should not be forced into any kind of ending. I'm sorry but spending 100's of hours falling in love with the universe and then to see it all destroyed in the end is not something we should be forced into when this trilogy was all about choice. What was the point of getting Tali her homeworld back when the mass relays end up being destroyed and now she can never go back?

If you don't want to see the "happy" ending you never have to, never pick it. Same with this "bittersweet" ending. Options should be there.

I would like it as one possible ending, no unicorn required though :-)

I don´t see why there couldn´t be a happy ending too. So that there are different types of endings.
Instead of one(the three are the same, so i doesn´t count.) Like in Dragon Age origins, were you could choose the fate of your warden, both on how you played, and what you choose in the end. And all the endings are great! : D Mass effect should be about choice, and there is no reason that there coulnd´t be more endings than one. In this game. Please bioware?? : D

HA! 12 months ago this was being talked about. "Thread Necromancy" haha I like it.

Pretty interesting to see where we've come since then. And what will happen. I side with many on this thread: choice. Lots of endings seem to make the most sense to me at this point. But unfortunately, I'm scared come April we're just going to get elaborations on the current endings. Those endings are here to stay and be final in the canon.

Yes my Shepard deserves to survive and reunite with Kaidan after all the s*** she's been through to save the galaxy!

It's still bittersweet, considering how many have died and the devastation in multiple planets!

I thought the current endings were "beautiful" in an artistic sense, at first I was spellbound. But after a week of reflection and activity within the BSN community, I have concluded that it would be nice--ideal, to me--to have both the current endings plus additional endings that include Shepard living. Ideally, after the war, Shepard gets to continue communication with his/her crew, friends, superiors, etc.

Yea I agree completely. I don't mind the current endings remaining canon either. But if this is the last of Shepard's story, why can't we see all sorts of endings? It's not like we're going to have a sequel that needs to take into account whether Shepard sacrifices to spread synthesis/cyborgism, right? Maybe they do have something planned with that in mind.

But if not, let's do both! Lots of endings for all! I know that would absolutely bring up the replay value. 10 fold or more.

Agreed! How about Shepard (or us!) gets to enjoy all the work he's done. My character deserves to build that house on Rannoch. Imagine it. He/we united the Geth and Quarians (as did Legion - a great character!), cured the genophage, defeated Cerberus, etc, etc, etc, but none of us get to enjoy it at all. Bring back Shepard I say (there is that one ending..?) and let him have that one last big win.

I would prefer an OPTION (BESIDE other otpions) for a happy ending.

My plan was to play the trilogy full paragon, full renegade and mixed (make decissions depending on my actual mood). But now... for what? Never for RGB-Endings...

I think too many of us can answer that question with a firm yes,and who says the ending should be dark and mysterious cause of goddamn artistic integrity and cause the whole game is dark and gloomy is retarded.Depressing and dark does not mean artistic nor does it mean deep and meaningful.Oh yes, lets not forget the ending didn't even make sense,so we didn't even get a damn explanation,so waiting for a happy ending is like wishing for rain in a desert.

I've thought about it and read a little just recently and given the ending I got I suspect something is afoot. And I suspect I know what it is. Anyone for a big glass of indoctrination?

To be honest, I would not mind a happy-ish ending. Now, an ending where everyone lives I can't agree with. Depending on what you did and who you were partied with should determine who doesn't make it. I wouldn't mind Shepard living and ending up with his or her love interest. Why not? It's a game based on choice. It should have had good, bad, and bittersweet endings. I thought the series was all about that?

A happy ending that is as bad as the current endings would suck, too!! I want the POSSIBILITY for a happy ending. You know, ONE or TWO of the 16 different endings promised, could have been happy endings... tss

I want an ending that is dictated by my actions in the game

If my renegade Shep blowing stuff up, annoying the Turians whilst screwing over the Krogan, then I would want (and expect) a "Bleak" ending. Maybe with Humanity as the dominate force in the Galaxy or maybe with Humanity suffering a greavous loss of its population which can be amended.

If my Paragon Shep is making waves, helping everyone and pulling all forces to the table and directing them together for the greater good, then Yes, I want a "Happy" ending, where we all come together and realise that being Human, Turian or whatever, that we all live in the same Galaxy and victory together leads to a dozen millenia of peace.

But I want the choice, based on my actions. As we was promised.

I want multiple different endings , read DIFFERENT. A Happy, one, a sad one , a sadistic one, a gay one, even fluffy bunny puppets ending . As long as they are not a copy and paste , change hue color kind of ending.

I don't *prefer* happy ending. I wish there were vast spectrum of endings, and happy ending should be one of them. Hell, I don't know I can call it a happy ending knowing millions of lives perished during the battle. It'll be bittersweet at best.

I find this here tragically ironic.

Me personally, I do want a happy ending. If you're going to end a trilogy, may aswell end it on a high. (With max Paragon choices)

Depends. For some of the Sheps I played in ME1+2 the available endings are indeed ok, all I would like is to chose for myself if I want my Shep to survive (like e.g. DA:O).
The Shepard I really liked most to play just needs to survive because there are things he has to do.
All I need is a DLC where surviving Shep goes looking for his lost crew, to uhm... save them. Yes, thats all he wants to do... has nothing to do with Jack... promise...

I think there needs to be at least one "successful" ending, yes.

The ending we got was not "successful" by any stretch of the term.  Millions dead on the Citadel, trillions more to die, galactic civilization doomed...all because we acquieced to the final boss who didn't even make sense.  By no means did Shepard succeed.

I'm not looking for an ending akin to Silent Mobius, where Katsumi and the AMP fly off over the rainbow to some ear-grating J-pop.

Ideally, I'd love a "memorial" ending. You take your two squad-mates ground-side; in orbit, perhaps the Normandy maneuvers between Hackett's command and Harbinger to cover their retreat, and is ultimately destroyed. Everyone aboard dies. The only survivors are your ground-team. Fast-forward, Shepard recovers from his/her injuries. They show Shepard, now with a limp, crouching over a makeshift Normandy memorial with his friends. S/he has a picture of the crew from ME1--a happier time--and sets it down. Perhaps the camera pans over the photograph, and the player hears funny or memorable lines from the characters who died. Mordin's seashells, etc. Camera draws out, and you see they're in the middle of some debris-strewn wasteland that search-teams and civilians are picking through, looking for loved ones. An utterly dismal scene. Cue acoustic "Leaving Earth". The end.

I would like a CHOICE about it.
I would like it as a POSSIBILITY, but not the be all and end all.

Variation and impact, to see it, from seeing your squadmates and companions, LI to hated, survive or mourn or be mourned.

I would like the CHOICE to have Shepard live or be buried and mourned, or even not at all. I would like the choice to be able to see the Reapers win, I want to see this cycle and characters in it in their last acts of defiance as much as I want to see those acts of defiance turn into the killing blows against the Reapers.

I want to see Hackett plough his flagship straight into a Reaper, or blow it to pieces in a coordinated attack at range with a ruthless barrage of Thanix fire, live or die, win or lose, I want to see the Destiny Ascension show why its such a cornerstone of the Asari Fleet, I want to see it either disintegrate in flaming defeat despite its strength, or sledgehammer a capital ship into hell on its own.

I want to see the fleets show just how many Reapers they can cut to pieces before they run out of slugs or run out of ships and lives. I want to see the groundforces, spearheaded by those characters we know and love or hate, from Grunt to Kaiden, to Ashley and Wrex, to Tali and Garrus, to Jack and Zaeed and Major Coats (but mainly those we're attatched to, those that can represent their races, from the still living, to the doomed to the ghosts of the past, (Javik)) and everyone in between make their last stands or make their triumphant charges, I want to see them all at their best whether they fall or whether they stay standing.

And most importantly, I want a CHOICE of how these events all unfold. WIN OR LOSE.
Ambitious and costly to develop, but Mass Effect's success as a series should brook nothing less in its finale, it deserves something like this, or better made and more succinct but certainly something that will convey the same impact.

"Mass Effect." This is enough to tell you how the ending should be.

Not sure I'm following you here.....

Whatever the ending will be, there can't be an ending where "Yay! The Reapers are defeated and now the universe is back to normal again!" There needs to be severe consequences because of this war, whether it's casualties or the destruction of many systems in our galaxy (For example, we might have to destroy mass relays to kill Reapers if it comes to that, and in the process eliminate complete solar systems in our galaxy, just like what happened at the end of Arrival).

Yeah, no. The severe consequences are already there, namely billions of lives lost to the reapers and the scarifice of some crewmembers. Depending on your way to play the game, there was never the hint that additional sacrifice was needed. Edit: Well, except that is what you wanted to say... I just realized that.

Ok, I want a hard to achieve happy ending like in ME2, but also some not so happy ones.

I'd like a happy-ish ending (in which most of my bros survive and the Reapers are defeated), but I want to have to really work for it--no free rainbows for you, Cheez!

And a mandatory "oh sh*t" ending for if you suck at the game: Reapers win, everyone dies.

This.

Choice and consequence... I'd love to have the option of a very hard to get happy ending. Or a good ending at the very least. Also bad and/or terrible endings
