I saw fat people in DAO.
And in DA2, I specifically remember that when you clear out the Bone Pit and tell the miners to go back to work, one of them is rather chubby.

He had a chubby face, not body. Same with the first mercenary you see when doing Gamlens personal quest (to find his daughter).. Double chin, perfect body like the rest.

It turns out this is what the Tevinters were doing all those years ago.
It took turning a city into a massive glyph and sacrificing thousands in blood magic rituals to tear into the fade itself, but they achieved their goal: No fat people in Kirkwall, ever!

I think they were sacrificing or messing with a demon/Forgotten One, personally. [/unnecessarylorespec]

... In order to exterminate obesity in Kirkwall, of course.

Its for the same reason you dont see heavy actors, cept bit parts or comedy. Beauty is defined by the generation, to many folks Marylin Monroe would be considered heavy compared to Lindsay Lohan say.. I mean I am just gratified they havent made all game peeps going towards the Skeletons society calls "hawt" .
For some reason the game fellas all tend to veer towards a Vin diesel or Da Rock build,,, o ok i admit it, i think they are hawt anyways LOL

The reason is obvious, Sten in DAO stole cookies from a fat kid and liked cake. The city is full of Quanri, obviously they have stolen and eaten all the goodies in the city.

How REALLY fat do we want them to be?

I mean, we're discussing a society that still has to kill things they want to eat somewhat directly. Farmers. Mill workers. Hunters... these professions do not really permit one to be drastically out of shape. The nobles might have been heavier, or shop keepers... but I'm guessing they don't have a lot of fatty foods available to them other than luxury items. Weight ratios are not going to be reflective of the present day.

I think the portrayal of the monarchs(weight-wise) in the series isn't really realistic. Compare Henry VIII to Calian or the Viscount, and see what I mean.

Henry VIII was in good shape when he was younger. Overindulgence AND other health related issues made him start eating his feelings, but at one point ol' Harry was pretty fit.

rotfl berrfish best answer YET!
ya did they believe that Henry the VIII had hodgekins or some disease that caused his massive wgt gain? idk I would think it makes sense life of luxory leads to wgt gain, as well as mishapen peasants squeezing out 8 kids should.. but I mean Im kinda relieved we dont see that stuff LOL

Really? I didn't notice that. How silly.
