She gets encased in pure Lyrium says the wiki... though she could just as easily be transmutated into pure Lyrium..... Either way, if just having Lyrium in your possession makes you a mag-er-angel-thingy... then being encased in it or becoming it would make you virtually omnipotent.... I never really understood how she could be reprimanded or even killed in her new form...

She pulled a Saren. It wasn't the Lyrium Idol, it was the hardware the Reapers implanted her that made her crazy. After Hawke left Harbinger ASSUMED CONTROL and destroyed Kirkwall.

This is actually how pure lyrium reproduces. Take control of a sentient mind, destabilise it, and then turn the whole body into pure lyrium. That idol started off as just a small piece, and now, all of Meredith is pure lyrium.

Her remains are corrupted lyrium, her corpse will probably be locked up in a templar vault by the Seeker. Or perhaps those remains will serve as a plot point later on, who knows.
