Coming out of DA2, what did you learn?

In the end I learned that the mages go on a rebelion against the Templars and Chantry... thats it.
There was absolutely no extra lore, 1 new creature to fight (rock wraiths) and no new far off worlds or countries.
Every time DA2 came close to revealing something new about the world of dragon age it shuts you down and leaves you hanging. For example, Merrill's side-quest, for about 2 hours you go on quests for Merrill trying to rebuild the Eluvian mirror to try and find lost Elvan lore and history. You finally fix the mirror and go to activate it when that S.O.B. Keeper ruins the whole ****ing thing and bamm no new info for anyone.
Here's another example, First Enchanter Orsino gives into blood magic and transforms himself into an abomination. I'm sure everyone was hoping for some cool new hideous form he would take but noooo, he turns into a harvester from Golems of Amgarrak. How sad, they couldnt even be bothered to conjure up a new design for a demon, or for this instance a golem gone crazy... why they hell did he transform into a golem anyway? that makes no sense.
Thoughts?

And we found out about that pre-dwarven civilization, more about the qunari culture, more about Rivain and Tevinter...

And we found out about that pre-dwarven civilization,
We found out nothing about the primeval thaig save for the fact that it exists.
more about the qunari culture,
Not much more than Sten already told us.
more about Rivain and Tevinter...
And if the game were actually set in Rivain or Tevinter that might mean something.

And what exactly did you learn about that pre-dwarven civilization? That they built or found a stature made of lyrium that went MIA? You did learn something about the QU'n from the Qunari but not much more, already knew Qunari mages were on a leash. What new knowledge came for Rivain and Tevinter?

I've also learned that elves look very malnourished when the Qunari steal all their cookies.

Never stand close to a Saarebas.
If you're a Templar you want to stay right next to a Saarebas all the time, it's criminally easy to shut them down.

We found out that dwarven society doesn't start with the Memories. We found out that the dwarves of the A. thaig woshipped gods, not paragons, and at some point ate them out of desparation.
We found out that "standard" Qunari have horns, have a variety of chemical weapons, and that they revere at least the book that their Jesus wrote stuff in. Also that they like tattoos.
DA:O didn't take place in Orlais or Nevarra or Antiva, but we learned about them there, does that not count as having learned that lore from DA:O?

Wynne is an abomination. Irving is a liar and conspirator.
Besides they're not from DA2.

2.DTA, especially mages and family members
3. Diplomacy does not work in the DA Universe
4. The Chantry probably secretly kills more than any other organization
5. Dual wielding long swords is too cool for DA2
