The Witcher 2 shows how it's done, Dragon Age II remains sockpuppetry. NSFW.

Am I the only one who thinks that BioWare needs to start paying more attention to their cinematics after seeing this? I mean, honestly, the Dragon Age II sex scenes are just embarrassing by comparison. There is no feel to them. No atmosphere. No steam. No sexiness. Here's hoping that BioWare mans up for Dragon Age III and does the subject justice instead of tiptoeing around it.

... And before someone starts hollaring about pornography and how its corrupting our children, this is nothing worse than what you'd see in your average cinematic epic. If I were a parent I'd also be a little bit more concerned over the gratuitous blood geysers but that's just me.

The Witcher 2 doesn't feature trading cards. Now, are you done trolling the topic?

The cinematic presentation certainly fell flat on its face, yes.

The Witcher 2 is cinematic. It's atmospheric. It's beautiful. Dragon Age II... well, it's everything but. I hope that BioWare can take a few lessons from the competition and come back stronger. I'd rather not have to sit through more awkward sockpuppetry in Dragon Age III.

...I was thinking of a sharp retort to shut up the Witcher 2/Dragon Age comparison but I just lost my train of thoughts.

I would not have minded seeing Fenris and James Hawke in that position, indeed.

It's by an european developer, around here we are less squemish about sex and nudity than you americans.

Maybe i should try finish the first Witcher sometime. I've tried it three times but always lost interest...

While I didn't mind the cards I do prefer having awesome romance scenes over them. I'm glad that CD Projekt listened to the critique and went for a more cinematic approach. It's really paying off. You can feel the tension just by looking at the picture and that is what I want to see in Dragon Age III. Improvement, please!

*glances at the exploding darkspawns from DA2*

Yeah... Americans kinda tolerate violence over sexual content.

How is DA2 sockpuppetry? It's just a fade to black. DAO was sockpuppetry.

You can't change your characters appearence correct? That's a lot more importent to me than being able to yell "score!". To bad about the trading cards - guess you will need chalk and a chalkboard now..

No.
I still remember the horrid sex animations from DA:O.
I'll keep the tasteful fade to black of DA2 over it any day.

Indeed. Just a couple of weeks ago I sat down to eat my tea while watching Matt Smith (Doctor Who) shagging the hell out of pretty German boys, all on the glorious BBC.

(For those whose interest is piqued by that, it was a drama called Christopher and His Kind, based on the novel of the same name by Christopher Isherwood. And it was excellent.)

the scene still looks a bit dull... or is it due to the graphic card of the OP

That's correct, or name, since it's simply the tales of the witcher Geralt from a series of books.

It's a bit negative at points, but at the same time it allows them to do a bit more story wise, given that they can call you by your full name, and easily have people talk about your description etc.

Too bad I don't like cacuasian guys with white hair as my avatars, and while my likness with Geralt stops there it's enough to cause a connection with the character that throws me a bit.

I'd take fade to black over this. Not even Hawke's sexy beard could save that trainwreck.

The fade to black might have been tasteful. The rest of it certainly wasn't.

Yeah, I had to bang 7 gram rocks to help imagine everything that happened after fading to black in DA2. Why can't both games just have sexy cutscenes? It would be BI-WINNING!

Perhaps, but the topic is about the sex scenes, not the whole romance :P

Really if I want to see two people I didn't create having sex cinematically, I'd probably rent a movie. Not really what I prioritize most in a roleplaying game. Or even a romance in a roleplaying game. Given a choice between more flexibility of choice and cinematic sex scenes I'd pick the former.

But whatever knocks your socks off.
