Is there a way to remove the 'light aura' that comes when your controlled character is not in any light? Better yet, can it be controlled?

Also wondering wether you can remove the ability to make stuff glow and have their names shown by pressing the infamous tab button...

Any help appreciated!

The vision thing isnt just for elves, even humans get it. I don't believe dark vision and low light vision feats actually make a difference...

you can change the "highlight" TAB, to another hot key. I changed mine to the spacebar.

I understand. however some things in NWN can not be changed, they are hardcoded. The highlight is one of those hardcoded features.

I guess you want to disable for players, well not possible since this is pretty sure client-side so neither NWNX will help you with this.

I have however seen a GUI feature disabling this for NWN2.

Fair enough.. And I doubt such an GUI feature is possible for NWN1.

However, the illumination... Assuming its client side, and considering it comes when your character is not in any light, wouldn't it be possible to make the client think the character is in light when it really isn't, at least not in any visible light?

Invisible light? :P

There is a way to make the pc not have light aura, however without knowing what is going on in your mod, its hard to say why your seeing it. usally, if the PC is not wearing a Light enhanced Item, and does not have a ultravision, or dark seeing ability/spell cast on them, then they should see the area light exactly as it was set in the area properties in the toolset. You can of course adjust that in game with the gamma slider under options, and I have only ever seen one PW make this impossible. That PW is Ravenloft PotM. their dark areas are very dark, reguardless of how the gamma is set. However to get that darkness effect, they really turned up the fog. Playing with the light settings of an area takes time, and can be numbingly maddning when it isn't quite right, but you can tweek it to what you want. Just remember the settings once you find what your after, because of course you will have to re-set the light in the other areas as well. Good luck.

nwnx does allow you to programatically adjust the visibility of players which would be a work around.
But the downside of this, is that it will make the entire player invisible or visible to another player. It wouldnt be limited to just the aura/highlight.

You could say.

If player A is outside of Rage of Player B, then keep them invisible.  (Tab wont illuminate them, because they are not visible)

If Player A is inside of Range of Player B, then make them Visible. (Tab will then illuminate)

Not the best remedy, but there are pseudo methods of getting around it.

The tab glow is really just something that came into my mind when I posted this thread.

My goal is to be able to control the illumination completely, if a player has no light source and is in dark, he shouldn't see anything. Anyway, I'll try to play around with the area settings... I'll post here if I manage to find the proper settings.

EDIT

Weeell... Seems that setting fog distance to minimum 30 and fog amount to 20 is just enough to counter the illumination.
