Well, it's funny when he gets beaten down verbally.  Which is pretty often; I'm fairly sure Barkspawn the mabari can outwit him.  He himself though, is completely devoid of any redeeming qualities.

I actually like Sebastian. He's a bit of a waffle, but that's ok in my book. As far as the religiousness goes, I think that he's actually quite reasonable. Despite the fact that he definitely isn't perfect, he still adheres to his goal and I find that noble.

Here's a banter he has with Isabela. I'd say it captures the essence of Sebastian pretty well.

Isabela: It's been years, and not once have you tried to get me to repent or turn to the Maker.
Sebastian: Preaching seldom works, Isabela. To change a person's heart, one has to lead by example.
Isabela: Huh. That makes sense. I can respect that.
Sebastian: I grew weary of the strings of nameless lovers and the nights full of mindless pleasure. You will, too.
Isabela: (Gasps) That's the cruelest thing anyone's ever said to me!
Isabela: I think I'm going to cry.

This, of course, doesn't stop me from thinking that the first thing he does after reaching Starkhaven, if Hawke doesn't kill Anders, is to nail a post on the chantry board offering coin for somebody to go kill Anders.:P

"If someone offers you clams, just say no. The last time I had clams on the docks, I was sick for a week."

Which is a bit silly when you think about it. Before you steam a clam, you make sure it's shell is closed (If it's opened, tap once. Toss it if it doesn't close.) and opened after you've finished cooking.

Clams are remarkably hard to get sick off if you pay a bit of attention, and as she's a sailor, Isabela probably knows how to prepare seafood.

It's the water quality.  If it's all crap (literally) then you're going to get sick no matter what.  I lived near a seacoast in a 3rd world country and the quickest way to gastro-intestinal doom was to eat from the "fresh catch" vendors on the docks- that's what I figure she's talking about, not cooking them herself.  Isabela is a wise woman.

I like Sebastian too... mainly for his voice and the "hunky Sebastian" face mod.
Yeah I'm shallow with both genders, go me.

Some of his "Maker wills it" banter gets on my nerves.
His basic argument is "Bad things aren't the Maker's fault, that's the evil in people's hearts. Good things? The Maker willed it to happen!"
Typical!

He reminded me a lot of Leliana in that regard.

That's just it, he's not really reasonably.  The thing that really made me hate him was the All That Remains bit with Gascard.  Hawke's mother is kidnapped by a serial killer and we've got 2 choices: wander around aimlessly just hoping you stumble onto something (obviously you do because of plot, but it's a REALLY long shot realistically) or let Gascard cast one blood spell to teleport you right to the killer's hideout.  Every other character understands how dire the situation is and won't hold hold it against Hawke to use the shortcut.  Even Fenris and Anders who are both rabidly anti-blood magic.  Sebastian is the only one who'll lose approval if you do it.

She never stops either. Certainly she goes on to become the Divine's left hand regardless, and never renounced her belief or faith in the Maker.

Once you did her personal quest, there wasn't really much she said at all.

Leliana was never like Sebastian.  I omniloathe the new Leliana, but she was never the preachy pain in the ass that Sebastian is.  Leliana occasionally mentions her faith but she doesn't write "Maker!" on a sign and beat people with it.  This guy repeatedly pesters someone who spent his life as a slave to a sadistic archmage with no semblence of a conscious.  I just want to punch him in the windpipe.

Fenris: My faith was never strong. It's difficult for a slave to have faith in someone who abandoned them.
Sebastian: The Maker didn't enslave you, Fenris.
Fenris: He didn't help me much, either.
Sebastian: And yet you stand here, free. Perhaps he helped you more than you think.

So the Maker isn't responsible for anything bad that happens, that's mankind's fault.  But if anything good happens, then oh we should all praise him for eventually, maybe helping.  Typical zealot.  His entire kind are a waste of life.  (Oh and since that can be easily misinterpretted, I must clarify.  I don't mean his kind as anyone religious.  I'm religious myself.  I mean his kind as in the type that shoves it down your throat every time they open their mouths and try to convert every single person they meet.  The kind you can't ask what time it is without a lengthy response about how their deity is so awesome.)

What the hell are you talking about, Merrill is down-right adorable and sexy as all hell!
In my order of romance preference of the gals: Merrill, Isabella, Aveline (even though I understand you get nowhere trying to romance her).

Aveline is cool and all, however would rather her just be a friend due to her attitude/personality. Shame because redheads really get my engine revving.

It's a shame it wasn't possible to 'romance' non-companions as well in this game, what with the entirety of it taking place in the same city anyway. A romancable Petrice, Cullen, Saemus or even Bran would've added so much more to the story, especially considering certain events that follow; with the current ones it never gets that personal.

Having Cullen at least be 'flirtable' would have been pure gold. Especially if your import warden was the female Amell who flirted with him. (And who demons tortured him with visions of)

She's not quite as deformed as other elves.  That's about all I'll give her.  First Enchanter Orsino looks like ****ing Count Chocula.

Okay NOW we're talking.

=/  I can see some people liking Cullen, but the rest of those are just awful.  And if Sebastian took a vow against fun, I'm sure Petrice would have as well.  But the general idea is good, not all romance options should HAVE to be combatants.  How old is Orana?  She talks like she's a kid but she looks older.  Either way, she would've been a good option if she was older.  The hero rescues the poor elven maiden from a horrible life as a blood mage slave and gives her freedom and a job as a maid at his estate.  I want this option just so I can name the firstborn "Alistair."

LOL!  Orsino might have been moonlighting as a spokesperson.

This is true since merril automatically says she loves you after doing it once and isabella actually changes her feelings over time, merril doesn't change much as far as I know.

Yeah, I'm still not sure why they thought changing the elves to look like they all have chromosomal disorders was a good idea...

It looks horrible to me as well, but they tried to make them look more unique instead of looking like cute smaller humans with long ears Image IPB

It was one of those 'good concept but terrible execution' moments. Seeing the actual drawings they based them after, (in the strategy guide) they look superb. But didn't translate well to game.

I also much prefer the drawn character design to Merril than how she actually ended up. Looked a little older and more dynamic. But I'm guessing they felt she looked too much like 'elven Morrigan.'

The concept art for Merrill was horrible. It was skankish and absurd. They were wise to move away from it.

An opinion is not a claim and does not need to be substantiated.

However, I will pretend you said "would you kindly provide me with a link, good sir, so that I might come to my own independent aesthetic judgment on the matter?"
