One of the funniest most loveable charters in the game. I thought i should say it.

I wonder what he was talking about when he said " The old lady is scary".

This is the wrong forum to speculate but at the end of the first act where he froze Ogre and he says "not enchantment" has a lot of folks buzzing.

Any ideas as to what he's talking about? I'm not versed enough in the lore to even speculate.

I believe that the "he" could be a reference to the old god baby. Morrigan's baby that was fathered by the Warden at the end of DA:O.

the old lady is most likely Flemeth, who probably is the source of Sandal's prophecy. perhaps she likes to visit him in the night and tell him of it

I always liked the idea that flemeth and Sandal are both old god babies from previous blights, perhaps Sandal was a messed up version due to being a Dwarf. he came out retarded

I believe Sandal is Flemeths child from a Chastined Dwarf long since dead. One of her regrets being that she left him in the Deep Roads to die. She visits him on occasion to check in but never tells him why.

I thought sandal had said 'boom' when asked how he froze the ogre. I assumed some kind of freezing grenade or something. Flemeth would make more sense though.

Wasn't there some (ingame) speculation that sandal came from a lost thiag who had mages? He was found in the deep roads afterall.

Interesting replies here.. I had just assumed the "scary old lady" was the ghost of Hawke's mother. I've never had him trigger that dialog when she's still alive.

As for the "not enchantment," the way he says it made me understand it as like a type of enchantment, a Not enchantment. As in whatever you use it on no longer exists, because it's Not. Sounds stupid, I know, but that's how I took it.
