We can't assume that the Templars will be the PC's enemy in the next game.ishmaeltheforsaken wrote...

It isn't completely implausible, since apparently the templars rise up as well as the mages in the other Thedas circles according to the epilogue.
That's what I was talking about in my post. The Templars and the Chantry are no longer on the same side. Cullen will either be a Seeker or normal-dude (and thus, no longer a Templar), or an enemy, if a sympathetic one.
I hope they bring Cullen back in DA3

The only thing we know at this point is just that something is going on with the circles rebeling. Past that was just Varric saying that the Templars rebeled as well. We can assume that is will play a part in DA3. It seemed important to Cassandra at the very least. Varric did say the "Brink of War" at the start of the game.
Only trick is where would the PC fit into all this. Neutral party that both sides want? Or are we even assuming that it's the greater concern? I'm guessing something has to be going that has the Warden's worried and looking. Hopefully something more interesting than just angry mages and templars for yet another entire game.

My belief is that the Templars and mages both will be the PC's "enemy" (though, I use the word loosely). DAII seemed to set us up to work with the Chantry, so I can't see us taking either side like we did in Kirkwall.

Cullen is a templar placeholder, about as interesting as a doorstop in his new "now with less crazy" incarnation.

Yes, and I think it would be too complicated to allow for the PC to be either with or against either mages/Templars in DA3 ... unless it was a loose affiliation where you just choose who to side with like in DA2. Otherwise it'd be a shed-tonne of work to create 2 different-looking games for either faction. IYSWIM.
That said, I really don't want to be working for the Chantry. I don't necessarily see the presence of the Seekers as a sign that you will be working with them or for them, but more that they will be the central force behind the main plot of the game. And perhaps like DA2 and the Templars, you can choose whether you support them or not through your decisions in quests.
Because, well, I really don't support the Chantry. <_<

I'm so mage-oriented it's not even funny. I don't know if I'll ever play as anything but a mage, which is a bummer in some ways because I'd really like to meet Bethany. But I liked Cullen, he seemed level-headed, not a fearmonger like Meredith or the other nutjob Templar sympathizers in the game (like Fenris).
Oh good, I'm not alone. And what's funny is I played almost exclusively rogues in Origins. But I feel like mage!Hawke gels with the story in DA2 so much better, and I'm one of those crazy people who likes Carver, too.
OT: I actually like Cullen. And this comes from someone who was indifferent to him in Origins. I never got the love some people felt for him in that game. You meet him very briefly, and while he doesn't come across as severely bigoted, his experiences with Uldred definitely tainted him into someone who was just a bit on the irrational side. And yet in DA2 he's overcome some of his issues. I find it hilarious actually that he's probably the sanest templar left alive at the game, and that he's willing to turn on his commander for (potentially) a mage.
I definitely feel like we'll be seeing him again. Whether it's as an NPC or a full-fledged companion, I'd be very surprised if he failed to make an appearance. And while I was never big into him before, I actually think I wouldn't mind him as a romance option. He comes across as very repressed, which could be fun to help him work through. Now I'm getting evil thoughts...

I'll bet some peeps didn't want to be working for the Grey Wardens. Or for Cerberus. I think it'll be the same.
I doubt we'll be forced to be Seekers, but I think we're going to be furthering their goals and working with their peeps.

Cullen will be one of your Warrior companions. Connor will be one of your Mages.
Depending on what you did Conner could be dead.
So. I really doubt that.
I don't think Lilianna will be a companion, though she will be in it.
The only one I can see coming over to 3 as a companion is Cassandra.

Yeah we need Cullen because he's the next best thing to Epic Templar Guy. We can never have Epic Templar Guy but we can have another "near" epic Templar.
This is the best opinion I've seen on this so far.

Let's ask Varric: Which skirt was he now?
