Companions hatin' on me

For example, when we went through that smuggling passage for one of Anders' quests, he ended up killing the mage being threatened by the templar. I got rivalry from Fenris and Sebastian. What the hell did I do? Go hate Anders, not me.

And they expect you to do and fix and save everything! With a sarcastic Hawke, control one of your companions and talk to yourself (try not to rip the fabric of reality, Bobbin Threadbare), and you will even comment on it.
At least most are not as bad as Carver, who had his blood replaced with distilled Haterade straight out of the womb.

Well you agreed to accompany him on a anti-templar mission, so you are partly responsible. Bringing Anders and Fenris along wasn't such a good idea. And they already hate Anders, they can spare some hate for you.
Ah, so true.

Yup. Just pick any dialogue option other than the one with the star, and she's dead. I'm sarcastic Hawke, and I just told him to stop glowing, he says something revenge-like, the mage calls him a monster, and he's like "OH I BET YOU'RE ONE OF THEM TOO!" and stabs her. Pretty crazy.
Yeah I feel like mommy to everyone. If someone does something bad, it's like everyone blames me for bad "parenting." Can't please everyone though I guess.

It's funny because I got the 'you can stop glowing' line too and he didn't kill her. I think there's another dialogue choice after that, isn't there ? Anyway, that you "let him " kill her is probably why you gained rivalry with the other two. Or maybe it's an unfortunate choice of words and they expected you to scold him for being a bad bad mage or something.

Indeed. I stopped anders and got +5 with sabastian.
First playthrough I chose the peaceful option and got the mage girl killed though, was surprised. Almost all playthroughs after I have saved her though (except one where I wanted him to leave the party after that, the sod still appears in cutscenes talking to varric in the hanged man and at the end though).
