I mean seriously when you go see Knight Commander Meridth there is a point when you actually see her with her new evil sword now she is facing opposite to the door so when Hawk and his companions comes through they get a clear sight view of it! Seriously Bioware think you got an epic fail on this one.

Yes, how dare Hawke see a sword and not automatically think of the Idol which looked entirely different last he set eyes on it seven years prior. What a dope.

To be sure, it's an evil-looking sword. It has a skull at the tip and has red veins of metal running through it.

After seven years of dealing with demons, blood mages, and abominations, Hawke should have at least noticed it. I mean, the first thing I noticed during Meredith's debate with Orsino in Act 3 was that her sword looked scary.

My mage had a staff with a skull on it for almost all of act 1. He doesn't judge.

Hawke makes a flippant remark about her keeping that sword shiny at some point.. I forget where.
Which is strange considering it doesn't shine at all.

I know right? I mean right at the beginning of Act 2, you can clearly see that the Arishok has a tattoo on his arm that says "Kill Viscount". How can Hawke be so blind?

C'mon Bioware, get your act together.

Yes but once you are battling her you're characters turn around and recognize it being the idol, it clearly looks like the idol from the handle. I think its just the way Bioware have programmed the game not much thought given *sigh* I have no clue what lead them to push this game out soo quickly when DA1 was as great as it was.
I am curious though IF I was a developer and made a game that did amazing then sat down making a sequel surely I would want to better my last game...It almost feels like developers these days don't look at previous games and just blindly make a sequel hoping for the best.
Thankfully Bethesda do not use such methods otherwise we would see a new Elder Scrolls game a little too often...

"So I notice your sword as a skull on the tip. You know one of my staffs also has a skull. Can you do magic with yours? ....No? Maybe you can come over to my luxurious estate sometime and I'll show you the magic my staff can do. *winkwink*"

The handle looks very little like the idol.

Well I don't like TES. If this ruins a game for you..well. Honestly? I didn't even think it was the idol. Did you notice it was the idol until she revealed that it was? If not, then why should Hawke? He/she was obviously too occupied stroking his/her beard to notice.

Hawke fails at being Genre Savvy. He should know that people with red lightsabers are always evil.

It was a mighty fine beard.

I don't know, it vaguely resembles the idol at best.

We know she had a secret mage fetish, so it is possible. You could feel the tension between her and Orsino.

Possibly Varric should too.
But maybe that's only if you touch it.

I did notice the sword and how ugly it is, but I don't see how Hawke could have recognized it as the idol. Speaking of which, why didn't this piece of the idol make chairs fly and speak to Varric?
