But I liked Charade very much. (and no, not in that way. eww.) It was nice to gain instead of lose a relative for once.

My favorite part of the quest was this exchange when you meet her:
Charade:*blah blah blah*... I'm your cousin.
Aveline: You have a cousin?
Hawke: I have a cousin?
I laughed harder than I should have.

Yeah, I found that scene hilarious as well. If anything, I like how that quest and Leandra's death made him more human and less of a greedy bastard like he was in Act 1.Captain Uccisore wrote...

You get hints before that. His attitude in most of the start of the game is largely motivated by the fact that his parents kinda treated him like crap and he's the one that ended up having to nurse them through....cholera? I think?
Point being, guy's had a pretty hard time of it, and he's flawed, but he -does- have reasons for being that way, and you can actually get a pretty amicable relationship going with him by the end of the game. Hell, in my game, he basically told me he was proud to be my uncle.
And yeah, the cousin was awesome. I'd totally sign to have her as a companion in the next game.

When you check up on Gamlen in Act 3, there's a note on his table. It leads to a quest where you find Charade.

In Act 3, you get a quest to go check on Gamelin. Once you do so, click on the note you see on the table then ask him about it. You'll get a quest and can figure the rest out from there.

As a matter of fact, he squandered the estate, which left the 3 good family to struggle an entire year. He was a cheating scoundrel and was always at the whor*house. His attitude toward Hawke was "Shut up" most of the game, degrading Hawke's mother. He never spoke about any daughter (His poor wife!) and he kept the jewel a secret. He was one of the most dreadful personalities in the game. I think Hawke should have dragged him to the Deep Roads and let Bones have him.
Hawke's cousin even got the cold shoulder in my playthrough- only THEN however did he recognize how proud Hawke's mom would have been. Hawke's statue with his foot on the Arishok's head should have had his uncle begging at his feet. But...to each their own...

The only real thing Gamelin did wrong (and its a big one) is make Leandra think her parents died hating her. But he did love his sister very much. Not sure how you missed that.

Odd...I played the came twice...and he was an azz-kicking take-no-prisoner skullcrusher the entire time. He had a kind heart but was sick of the bloody bickering, as the dialogue can attest to- my favorite being when he said he couldn't go a week without seeing one bad mage!
Hawke was a burning warrior who sliced enemies like butter. There was a hint him and the Hero of Ferelden (DA:O) ended up somewhere, according to Varric's story. Now there's a nice storyline. Especially since my hero in DA:O has a baby somewhere in Morrigan's arms!

After I returned his daughter to him, he was very sweet at the reunion, and he thanked me. Then I clicked on him again and he goes, "So I hear you've been slipping it to that pirate ****..." You know, while she was standing right by me.
classy fellow.

A generic human. "rah rah we beat the Qunari".

Its representative of Kirkwallers in general having victory over the Qunari. Not Hawke specifically. If it were, it would change gender to match Hawke's. Instead of always looking like a random male guard.

Um. Gamelin wasn't actually married and didn't even know he had a daughter. So it shouldn't be surprising he didn't talk about her.

Actually Gamlin WAS married, got ditched, and had a daughter- Hawke's cousin Charade, whom Hawke meets in a fight wherein she kicks some serious ass. Above you can see where to discover her.

Looks like loser Uncle "Joe" Worthless had a youngin' who turns out to be one kick-ass fighter...and she's a LOOKER too...I hope she can return to the game in DLC as a fighter. Why can't I kill my uncle? He's the reason for Mom's death and Bethany's perils and he spits on his daughter, pretty much. She should have skewered him in his own house.
I say let DOG have him for a chew toy.
Alright, who let him out of his cage? Someone grab the prozak quickly!

Same thing happened in my game. But its not like Isabela would be remotely offended by it. I thought it was hysterical. He also has funny lines if you're in a gay relationship.

You can reconcile Gamelin with his long lost daughter if you want. I love that Charade is an archer rouge and the letter she sends is hilarious. She flat out asks if Hawke is sleeping with the captain of the guard. The very married captain of the guard.
That was bloody hysterical- that and Varrics tales spreading about beating Arishok bare-handed, or something like that...lol.

Lets try this again... Gamlin was seeing a woman named Mara (whom they never once said he was married to) who left him. He had no idea she was pregnant at the time. He never talked about his daughter because he never knew he had one. They say that directly when you reconcile them.
