Browsing through the forums over the last 3/4 days, i've noticed that a large percentage of DA2 players are a little peeved to how DA2 turned out. (major understatement in some cases!)  Why though? Sure its got quite a few problems, but I can see these said problems being easilly fixed in a patch! The quest bugs, repetitive areas, boss fights, ninja assasin enemies appearing outa thin air etc, could easily be fixed in a few hours of work from bioware, then implemented in an update.

Allot of people also seem to think that bioware don't care, there happy that they have your money, pfft to those who are dissappointed in the game.  Many more also blame EA.  My views? I simply think bioware tried to release a game to please everyone, and just like clothing with the "one size fitts all" tag, not everyone agreed.

We must admit, some of the changes that bioware made for DA2 were actually decent changes, and very good ideas!, but it was the EXECUTION that let the game down, hence its current status.  The story was a little rushed (pacing wise), but it is still good! if act 1 was quicker and act 3 was longer, i think that would improve the game immediatly.

Some might argue, why would bioware make a patch? It would take too long, be to large a download, probably cause more problems then fixes, so why bother? To answer these questions I have four words.  STALKER. Shadow of Chernoble.  On realease this game was virtually unplayable, yet THQ listened to its fans and released a HUGE patch about 2/3weeks or a month after release, which fixed a large percentage of the games problems, and the game actually resembled what the dev. aimed for it to be.  Hell MORE people actually took a chance and bought/played the game afterwards.

To further cement my point, some of the bugs/niggles that occur in the game have allready been fixed/workaround by the game community.  This shows that even without a toolset, many of the problems are quite easily fixed.

I feel that DA2 is a great game, I immensly enjoyed it, and despite the flaws, I will play it again.  I implore you bioware! Please think on what Ihave said.  Your fans are eternally loyal, but that loyalty has been stretched as far as it can possibly go with awakenings and DA2, please do not dissapoint us further, and prove those who are against you WRONG: That you do listen to your fans, that you acknowledge that you make mistakes, and fix what needs to be fixed.  We understand :) Nobody's perfect !

It could fix DA2 for those players whose only quarrel with the game is its bugginess. For many, however, the game has a lot more problems than that.

only in a bug sense but for a while at least it will give the naysayers a bit more flame,so I guess you could consider that a yes!!!

I suppose that depends on a couple things.

1) If your gripe was bugs and the "epic" patch you mention was mainly there to address said bugs.

2) If the patch included something more than simply bug-fixes to address all the other concerns out there :)

Satisfaction is relative. So are *some* fixes, in this sense.

I personally would like a toolset. That would make *me* very happy, other people could care less and they have their own concerns.

I'm sure many people will be pleased with the patch and many people won't be. Epic or not. :)

I’m sure the repetitive areas couldn’t be fixed with a few hours’ work, the reason we got them in the first place must have been because they saved months and months of work!

A few hours? I'm not gonna explain the details of software development (I'm a web programmer myself), but sufficed to say: no, a few hours will get nothing at all done. Just nothing.

Making entirely new maps, applying them to the game, testing them to fix the repetitive areas. Writing new story and dialogue, and getting the VO crew back together for all that, testing it all, to fix the lack of choices and consequences. It's just not something that's done in a patch. That's development stage stuff. And what would be the point anyway? This is not an MMO, it won't have an appeal a year from now, so there's no point investing a huge amount of resources into it now that the game's already out and the reviews have already been made. Whatever damage has been done, has been done. It can be mitigated by swift patching, deals such as the ME2 for free deal etc. And most importantly by gathering as much info and criticism as possible to ensure that what caused this will not come to pass again. Most of which are things BW is already on top of.

I think DA2 was a decent game, though an obvious low point considering the top-quality I'm used to getting from BW. I also think that the shortcomings here were a good thing. Everyone, group units and companies included, make mistakes. They are the things that make sure we keep improving. I have very little doubt that the next titles to come out from BW will be all the better for the lessons learned in DA2. Unless of course, as some fear, it was never BW's fault to begin with. If it's EA's well-known "fast crap instead of slow quality" buck-making policy, then I fear the future will be very grim indeed.
