After a couple playthroughs, one of the things that sucks is that when your characters are close to being badasses on the battlefield, the story is almost over.

What would it be like to have your characters badasses at the beginning of the game?

The XP/Gold glitch allows this to be possible.. And if your level 40+ before Act 2, a ton of items from the merchants are scaled. I saw a breastplate with over 400 armor, 177 attack. A ton of stuff is scaled to level. I have a several 4 star items so far.

Once you're geared up to your level, put it on Nightmare and go to work.

I just got to Act 2 and am still drooling over the items at all the different merchants. Plus I'm also 1500+ gold heavy. Shoppers delight.

The only drawback is the most of the unique items aren't scaled but there is more than enough to make you forget about the Champions armor. You could still wear the chest piece and look cool :).

You get a tease of badass overpowered Hawke in the prologue. Anymore than that too early would take the fun and challenge out of it.

most of the item tables for merchants are random and scale with level. so if you shop proper you can get a lucky random rare to pop up.

hm I may try this. Can you just tweak a new game file to make yourself level 20 from the start?

This is why so many people like NG+, and why I think every RPG should have it.

Enemies do scale to your level, but the stats on the equipment aren't that great, the only equipment that you find that's any worth is the generic kind. It's hella fun though.
