I wouldn't mind if Hawke got dumped. But I don't think it will happen. DA2 feels like an introduction to a Shepard-like hero. No other races to play, just because it is more economic. It prevents race/origin specific dialogue. It also saves developing alternate armors for specific races (this idea is supported by giving the henchmen their own armor) to further reduce the cost. In this line of thought the Warden is a no go. At best we get a new Hawke-like character. That's unlikely too, because we have this rise to power idea behind Hawke and the seeker's story woven into it. I think they meant Hawke to stay for a while.
If this happens, looks like I won't be buying any more dragon age games.
Same here. Hawke is a boring character. I just never cared for him or his rags to riches story, blah......hell I can remeber as a kid at my grandmothers house and having to watch "The Golden Girls", had better story then this and that stinks.

I also doubt that BW has any intention of going back to a voiceless protagonist. I don't think it is beneath BW to have only 2 VAs for the Warden (even if the warden can be any race or age) but new dialogue would have to be created to account for the Warden's allegiance to his race/heritage. It'll be silly if a dalish Warden deals with the dalish elves and there is no mention of his heritage from himself or the dalish. It'll be silly for Varric to explain to the Warden about Orzammar dwarves when the Warden himself grew up there. Options would have to be different when dealing with different races. An elven Warden would care more about elves than humans etc.
We'll definitely see Hawke again. If not the PC, then at least an NPC.

to be honest it really depends on the whole story line /plot of the da3
Probably but it is likely the devs would follow the path of lesser resistance.

Basically, which means the time of the warden is done. This obsession that some folks have with their warden is unhealthy lol. They need to get over it, and move on and just accept that the best they can hope for is a mentioning of their deeds.

Had those cameos and teasers not been in there, I wouldn't have enjoyed the game nearly as much. But you can only tease so much before you have to pay up!
From the the above I think you can probably guess what I would like in DA:3 or even some DLCs. For some, the Origins story was left wide open, while others have a dead Warden (an Orlesian replacement if they played Awakenings and didn't use their original Warden).
Hawke was a victim of circumstance, her entire life was just being in the wrong place and the wrong time - or perhaps she was in the RIGHT place, again it's all open in my mind.
I would like the Origins gang back, my Warden and her LI story advanced, maybe even concluded (careful with that one though, my pitchfork is sharpened and ready!!)
I would like to see what happened to Hawke and her compainions too.
I would REALLY like to see the two tales join together, perhaps even the choice of playing Hawke or Warden (with wichever protagonist you don't select story playing along side concurrently).
Gah, I'm rambling worse than Merill. I'll go sit in a darkened room now, someone give me a shout when the DLCs start coming out please? I'm suffering withdrawal already....

His / her story is only just beginning, heck the ending just about literally had a 'To Be Continued' sign on it. And honestly, I like Hawke. I don't mind a Shepard-like protaganist. I'd like to see BW do something completely different and stick with the same companions. New faces are cool and all, but it'd be fun to actually have our companions back again.
As for the Warden, though I love my Wardens in their own right, I do feel that Awakening and WH gave us closure on that story. I don't argue that it could have been done better / less ambiguously, but overall, to me, it felt like that chapter of the story of Thedas was over.

But seeing as the warden is pretty much indestructible and the same goes for Hawke, teaming them up would make for a 2 men (or women) army. Virtually unstoppable. I'd still prefer this to Hawke choosing the mages side while the Warden chooses the templar side and they'd have to kill eachother in the end. Although I'm reasonably sure BioWare won't do things like this but you never know..
