Hawke but I wouldn't mind a new protagonist. They won't go back to the Warden cause of the voice issue.

I wouldn't mind if Hawke got dumped. But I don't think it will happen. DA2 feels like an introduction to a Shepard-like hero. No other races to play, just because it is more economic. It prevents race/origin specific dialogue. It also saves developing alternate armors for specific races (this idea is supported by giving the henchmen their own armor) to further reduce the cost. In this line of thought the Warden is a no go. At best we get a new Hawke-like character. That's unlikely too, because we have this rise to power idea behind Hawke and the seeker's story woven into it. I think they meant Hawke to stay for a while.

If this happens, looks like I won't be buying any more dragon age games.

Same here. Hawke is a boring character. I just never cared for him or his rags to riches story, blah......hell I can remeber as a kid at my grandmothers house and having to watch "The Golden Girls", had better story then this and that stinks.Image IPB

Who is this Warden you speak of, and who is this Hawke you also speak of?
I'm from some backwoods village in Orlais and I dont here things as much.. save when this Seeker came by asking about some black haired woman named Morrigan that me dead pa had some dealings with.

Both. Think about it. Playing an RPG where you continue the story of 2 known characters at different times would be interesting. Yes the HoF may have made the Ultimate Sacrifice ...but that still leaves the (Orlesian) Warden-Commander who made quite a pivotal decision and could confront Morrigan. I doubt that Bioware would develop DA3 with Duo Protagonists (liks say, Halo 2, only game that I can think of that has done it) but it would be cool and lead to some interesting scenarios.

Would much rather have the warden back than Hawke, and for the most part would rather see more of the DA:O companions rather than the DA2 ones.

Hawke and warden's story is over let them be and seriously who would want them as a companion that is stupid having fixed dialogue for them is insane.

I'd want a new character possible qunari but i wont push it.

I still want a voice pc though.

Warden, sorry but Hawke doesn't even come close to my warden character.

I want a new character, although I wouldn't mind having Hawke in an expansion before DAIII hits. And some day I would like to know where my Warden(s) went off to, although I don't really want to play as them again. (I mean, the ones who weren't dead or with Morrigan.)

Doesnt matter who you "want" to play in DA3. Because the liklihood of you playing your Warden again is pretty close to 0. Why? Because for you to play your warden again, that would mean that they'd have to go back to a voiceless protagonist. And again, the liklihood of that happening is slim to none. Essentially, you will either end up playing as Hawke again or have to roll up an entirely new character because your warden's story is basically over.

I doubt we'll ever see the Warden in person again, let alone play as him. Think about it, the Warden can be any of the 3 races. If the Warden is an NPC, how would the game present him for those who are playing DA3 for the first time and has no DAO import saves? Let the gamer create him using the CC just for an NPC?

I also doubt that BW has any intention of going back to a voiceless protagonist. I don't think it is beneath BW to have only 2 VAs for the Warden (even if the warden can be any race or age) but new dialogue would have to be created to account for the Warden's allegiance to his race/heritage. It'll be silly if a dalish Warden deals with the dalish elves and there is no mention of his heritage from himself or the dalish. It'll be silly for Varric to explain to the Warden about Orzammar dwarves when the Warden himself grew up there. Options would have to be different when dealing with different races. An elven Warden would care more about elves than humans etc.

We'll definitely see Hawke again. If not the PC, then at least an NPC.

Probably but it is likely the devs would follow the path of lesser resistance.

Basically, which means the time of the warden is done.  This obsession that some folks have with their warden is unhealthy lol.  They need to get over it, and move on and just accept that the best they can hope for is a mentioning of their deeds.

Hawke. Her story isn't done. I'd like to make some goddamn decisions that matter. As for the level thing, eh, you can always start over again, did it in ME, it's no big deal.

I loved both games, I'll make no secret of it (as I put on my flameproof jacket) BUT, I loved Origins more. I think that is why the characters in DA:2 did not make as much impact on me as my Warden and her friends from Origins. All the while I was playing I was waiting, begging practically for some information on the Warden and Leliana. Each time there was a little tease about the Origins characters I was extremely happy but always left screaming for more. At times it was almost as if I was only playing DA:2 for those little teasers. I think I missed some things in there bcause of that!
Had those cameos and teasers not been in there, I wouldn't have enjoyed the game nearly as much. But you can only tease so much before you have to pay up! ;)

From the the above I think you can probably guess what I would like in DA:3 or even some DLCs. For some, the Origins story was left wide open, while others have a dead Warden (an Orlesian replacement if they played Awakenings and didn't use their original Warden).
Hawke was a victim of circumstance, her entire life was just being in the wrong place and the wrong time - or perhaps she was in the RIGHT place, again it's all open in my mind.

I would like the Origins gang back, my Warden and her LI story advanced, maybe even concluded (careful with that one though, my pitchfork is sharpened and ready!!)
I would like to see what happened to Hawke and her compainions too.
I would REALLY like to see the two tales join together, perhaps even the choice of playing Hawke or Warden (with wichever protagonist you don't select story playing along side concurrently).

Gah, I'm rambling worse than Merill. I'll go sit in a darkened room now, someone give me a shout when the DLCs start coming out please? I'm suffering withdrawal already....

I'd like to see a continuation of Hawke like with Shepard in Mass Effect. I hope that's what BioWare is going for...

I think it'll be Hawke but I'd prefer not, for some reason I just couldn't get along with my Hawkes, the dialogue seemed too disjointed to be congruous. Anyway not going to complain, enough of that already, it'll be Hawke, it's been set up that way and the Warden retuning would be bizarre, given it's been 10 years they probably would have gone to the deep roads by the time of DA3 and there are only well known NPCs as the other options. As much as I liked Alistair in DAO the DA2 Alistair is a terrible hero.

I would like Hawke but... it may end up with a new protagonist seeing as how you only import the world and not the PC

Hawke.

His / her story is only just beginning, heck the ending just about literally had a 'To Be Continued' sign on it.  And honestly, I like Hawke.  I don't mind a Shepard-like protaganist.  I'd like to see BW do something completely different and stick with the same companions.  New faces are cool and all, but it'd be fun to actually have our companions back again.

As for the Warden, though I love my Wardens in their own right, I do feel that Awakening and WH gave us closure on that story.  I don't argue that it could have been done better / less ambiguously, but overall, to me, it felt like that chapter of the story of Thedas was over.

I had assumed the warden's story had officially ended after With Hunt. Although DA2 seems to hint at the warden still playing a big part in adventures to come. The first priority should be to continue Hawke's story however. If there were a way to implement the warden in this adventure then all the better.

But seeing as the warden is pretty much indestructible and the same goes for Hawke, teaming them up would make for a 2 men (or women) army. Virtually unstoppable. I'd still prefer this to Hawke choosing the mages side while the Warden chooses the templar side and they'd have to kill eachother in the end. Although I'm reasonably sure BioWare won't do things like this but you never know..

Would love to finish Hawkes story (throw in Merrill li amd Varric as well, got to have my trusty dwarf bard to tell my story). Would also love a BG2 nostalgia type story, yep god baby ftw (not big on ms/mr average heroes)... but no more wardens, just no, would rather eat broken glass.

edit:
death to silent protagonists  :P
