Let's wait and see. BioWare might have some DLC and expansion pack up their sleeve.

I had assumed the warden's story had officially ended after With Hunt. Although DA2 seems to hint at the warden still playing a big part in adventures to come. The first priority should be to continue Hawke's story however. If there were a way to implement the warden in this adventure then all the better.

I never felt the 'end' in Witch Hunt. She was her old ambiguous self. My Warden said goodbye to her friend and allowed her to walk through the Aluvian. Even in Awakenings I found the end deliberately ambiguous. My Warden Comander stepped down and then disapears shortly after, later being sighted with a certain bard in Denerim. I prefer not to think of these things as errors, bugs, plot holes, (and a whole host of other overused words here *grin*) but some wriggle room for the writers.
Besides, I figure she's got another 15-20 years before the Last Journey after the events in DA:2 finish.

But seeing as the warden is pretty much indestructible and the same goes
for Hawke, teaming them up would make for a 2 men (or women) army.
Virtually unstoppable. I'd still prefer this to Hawke choosing the mages
side while the Warden chooses the templar side and they'd have to kill
eachother in the end. Although I'm reasonably sure BioWare won't do
things like this but you never know..

I agree, I would hate to have a face off between my Warden and Hawke! *shudders* I'd love to see the two groups working together though. Can you imagine the party banter between Zevran and Bethany?

New character without doubt. If you want to fiddle with a pre-existing hero whether Warden or Hawke do so with DLC and expansions and not in a new title.

Who would you guys like to play?

1. Do you want a new "role up perons to build on?"

2. Do you want to play as Hawke agian?

3. Would you like to play as "The Warden" again?

Let me start by saying: I guess they will force Hawke back on us, even though i'd prefer them to work on that as Addon to DA2, finishing whatever stories they have to tell with Hawk in fullfledged and quality Addons (NOT DLCs). Preferably an Addon that could be played as Standalone, or that does Include itself into the coregame, by replacing the credits of DA2 Core with the opening cinematic of DA2 Addon (Maybe the Addon introducing new Maps and such for the coregame as well). And finishing the whole Hawke story as far as it goes.

Then.. for DA3 i want something else. I would want to see the next generation. The Wardens Child + Hawke Family child.

I do not really want to see any of the characters again. Even though i would hope for Cassandra in DA2 Addon as Companion. But for DA3 i don't want to see any of the old characters again.

I do not want to run into Sandal and his ongoing Joke because he is "special". And i don't want to run into Heren and Wade again. I don't want cameos from people who are not supposed to be where they are.

I would prefer if they would make a storyline in Orlaise. It doesn't have to be the next generation, but still i don't want any of the old people to return. I had enough of them.

If they finish Hawke in DLC/EP then I won't mind playing a new PC.

I just dont want another cliffhanger which has happened with both my Warden/Hawke.

If my Warden was male, I'd be happy but oh well.

I've read interviews with the creators for the last two years, and they've said repeatedly that DA is about THEDAS, not individual characters. I suppose they could always change their minds if they believe sales will be bad without a returning character, but I'm guessing that the next PC will be a rogue since the canon Warden was the male human knight and the canon Champion was a male mage.

Hell no, no Warden. What if your Warden died? Screw that noise. The Blight is old news. I say bring on a new hero to complete the triumverate.

If, as is my hope, the next game's canon hero will be a rogue (and, God forbid, a female), I hope they give us the option of actually joining a bard's guild or the Antivan Crows. I just hope it's handled better than the mage story was handled in DA2 (as much as I enjoyed it, I have to admit that playing a mage in DA2 does introduce way too many situations that don't make sense). Of course, I'm sure they'll give us the fighter and mage options as well.

Dunno they might pull a ME3 situation because game is about shepherd saving universe etc he is main char in ME3 even if he died in ME2.

I have no ojection to them making cameos or the warden or hawke from import but as long as they arent in main story long because as npc they will alter how u wanted him to be and that they only make cameo appearence if lived. Then they go away like how wardens showed up in DA2 but only to pop by and say got other things to do. But they should not make either Warden or Hawke playable characters in DA3 imho. Hawke should be delt with purely in expansions or DLC follow ups to DA2 I think.

Sorry, I don't mean to derail this thread but I find this statement really interesting. I've not read any of the interviews so I don't know for sure. However, do you not think, as far as fictional worlds go, it's the characters that MAKE them?
If you remove all the characters (individual or not) from a fantasy world are they not all much and such the same?
Thedas without the defining characters would be the same as Norrath without it's defining characters, as would Faerun,Torril, Middle Earth?
For many (myself included) , the people in Origins and how they shaped or lived through events defined Thedas in my mind. Hawke has further defined things but with considerably less impact on me (no, that's not a critisism).
I guess the statement, 'you always remember your first...' has another meaning to me as far as Dragon Age goes:wub:

My two cents: I wouldn't want to revisit either the Warden or Hawke.

I'll go with as much variety as possible. Different races, human, dwarf, elf, qunari. Within each race a different background (Dwarf: surfacer, carta, noble). You don't necessarily have to make a different origin story for each, but make the choice have consequence both in build and story.

And I think abolish classes. Let rogues be as warrior like as they want, and vice versa. Any character (except dwarves) can use magic (with different IC consequences). Makes for more interesting builds and playability. I think its possible with careful game balancing. I want to be able to make a rogue that has only enough magic to be invisible for a short time or confuse opponents, who doesn't fight with two daggers but one longsword and no shield. Or a solder that fights with both bow and sword/shield that switches as situation dictates, without being a master of either.

Make joining the wardens, circle, templars, legion of the dead, etc. an in-game choice that opens specialisations. But there is no 'unlocking' of specialisations. You can't be a templar unless you actually join the templars.

Make learning new spells an IC thing too. I want to feel like I learned that healing spell from a strange, eccentric apostate mage in the forest.

I am very... unsure.

I would be fine with every option. - Its just a question of how it would be implemented.
The story of Hawke feels very openended and almost begs for continuation, but the mysterious appearance of Flemeth, the wardens speaking about a rising threat when meeting Hawke, the business with the Architect and Morrigan leave so many questions unanswered for the Warden as well.

On the other hand I wouldn't mind closure on the chapters of their lives, and an introduction of a completely new character with a different standpoint. - But I would only approve of a new character, if the questions raised in the first two games were finally answered at least a little bit, or if the game expands upon them.
I wouldn't want to play a game completely cut off from the recents events of DA2, because there is just so much left in the dark, and because the end-scenario of DA2 makes for an amazing setup for a new game.

i guess if theyre going for the rogue protagonist, the setting will be in antiva. :) zevran's apprentice?

for me, id rather have a new character rather than playing the warden or hawke again. personally i'd like to play the warden's and morrigan's child which i though would be the protagonist for dragon age 2.

There's a lot of interesting things mentioned at the end of witch hunt (about flemeth(which i believed is the old god dumat) and uruthmeil(?) in the body of the warden's child; about the change that morrigan mentioned at the end; and also flemeth's appearance in DA2 must have meant something...being a friend to the elves..)

The Warden (vanilla Origins, no DLC's) was allowed a satisfying ending - Hawke's ending was the exact opposite. As of now, I'm routing for Hawke as the protagonist of DA3. Why? because I don't want to see -

DA:O - "Become a hero and save an entire world!"
DA2 - "Become the most important person in Thedas!"
DA3 - "Hawke who? Become the most important person in Thedas in DA3!"

I would like to hold this as a topic that BioWare can get some info on and tell us why you feel you should play X over Y and what they mean to you.

I think that both Hawke and The Warden mean a great deal to alot of us and we should let BioWare know if you feel that way.

If you want a new role up character, let them know here.

I have always thought..IMO, that a story is shaped around the character you build and how much you care for that character and the characters that he/she meets and bonds with......to me that is where you get your great story from.

I'am sure alot of you have thoughts on this and I think it's a great time to throw ideas out there and let the people at BioWare hear you. Thanks.

hmmm...i'd like to be able to play as the warden and hawke. i guess it's asking for a lot, though. things could be set up in chapters. one chapter, play as hawke. another chapter, play as the warden. something like that. or maybe have the party be up to 5 and have hawke and the warden always in the party.

In order of preference:

1. Hawke
2. New protaganist
3. Warden

For me, the Warden's story is done. She's living her happy ever after. For technical reasons, it also seems like there are far too many unresolved epilogue bugs from Awakenings and Witch Hunt in particular. I don't want to import a Warden that is only 60% accurate based on my playthrough.

I'd like to see more of Hawke and her companions definitely, although not necessarily with Hawke as the protagonist in DA3. DLC or expansion would be enough if it wraps up her story.

I certainly don't want to play the Warden agian. Mainly because I don't want darkspawn to be the major enemies AGIAN. They were way to cliche' for me, I prefer my enemies less generic.

I'd be ok with playing as Hawke agian...

But honestly I want to play as an entirely new character. I don't want Dragon Age to be like the mass effect franchise, I want new characters and new locations everytime.

Well, it's tricky here.

First choice, I want to play my Hawke or/and Warden again. No DAO/DA2 NPC for sure, I'd hate having to play Cassandra simply because she's not my character.

Second choice, a new character that would go looking for the Warden and Hawke. They both disappeared at the same time (remember that it's stated that the Warden disappeared 10 years after the Blight Events, and so did Hawke), so I really want to know what happened to them and their companions... AND their LI if they romanced someone. I doubt they disappeared with them.
