I could care less how easy peasy games are for other people or how often people whip a game on nightmare some people can't figure out the fact that just because something is easy for them it might not be for others.
For example I just played the Sir Varnell quest on normal and got beat 3 times in a row when in all other games I had no problem at all. My current group of Aveline, myself as a bow rogue, Sebastien and Anders is extremely wimpy.
lol ok.
Obviously you're not using him right.
I think he's saying his whole group is wimpy, not Anders in particular.

Can't stay consistant at all every time I think I've got it enough to switch to hard the game kicks my ass.

Obviously not and that is the point of me asking the other fellow who he has so he can be helped. Anders the way I have him built goes down very quickly and is tough to protect in the kind of mob situations generated.

That's even worse if Ave, 2x bow rogues and Anders is wimpy for him.

I'm doing OK on nightmare on my 2nd time thru. First time, however, I had to drop to casual for that damn Pride demon just before the end, and it still killed me 8 times, or something. (Before I realised that blue circle means run, or you're gunna die.) I was just picking abilities to see what they did, and that approach can seriously screw with your party. Which characters and abilities did you take?
By "huge guy" do you mean Orsino, harvester variety? Ignore him to start with and take out the other enemies. Other than that, I can't really remember this fight except that he has a zillion HP and I had to keep everyone on the move.

Right, and that's the OP's problem as well. At least you recognize thats the case, and know to take appropriate action.Beerfish wrote...

But posting a rant here that basically says, "I can't figure out how to play this game even on the easiest settings." with NO other information just invites piling on. It means the OP hasn't taken the time to study the available options, learn how different abilities interact, choose the appropriate tactics for the situation, or even just use the Reload option to go back and get the right folk for the job.
Instead, he complains that he's getting whipped.
No sympathy.

Extremely wimpy in the damage dealing department, very very wimpy. The problem with the bow rogues as I have developed them is the long cool downs for their big damage attacks and low Const. Aveline is a great tank, not so good at fast take downs, Anders as built is a healer, low damage, the two bowmen are fine if they are kept clean in areas they can avoid mob attacks.

Don't pidgeonhole Anders into the healer route and turn him into a mage that's all about buffing your other party members while choosing the vengeance route of his personal tree. Martyr+haste with essentially no cool downs=lawl for whatever enemies you meet.
But yeah, Aveline's pretty bad with the DPS output.
